Making a Scene: The Young and the Restless Fashion Hits of the Week — Wedding Edition

Making a Scene: The Young and the Restless Wedding Fashion

    DANNY AND CHRISTINE'S WEDDING

On The Young and the Restless, Costume Designer Mandi Line went all out, dressing the bride and groom and all the guests — invited or not — with perfection.

Christine and Danny’s Wedding on The Young and the Restless

In a behind-the-scenes video for The Young and the Restless, Lauralee Bell (Christine Romalotti) modeled three different wedding dresses before the shooting of the show’s wedding episodes. In a new and fun way to involve fans in the wedding planning, the audience got to choose among the three styles.

“Mandi and her team did amazing work with the designers to craft three beautiful options for Cricket’s wedding day. Each design shows off a different aspect of Cricket’s personality, while staying true to her playful and feminine signature,” Bell explained in the video.

Michael Damian, who, of course, stars as rockstar Danny Romalotti, also loved the interactive way the wedding dress was shared with the fans, who he deemed in a behind-the-scenes video as just as much part of the Danny and Cricket love story.

Ultimately, the fans picked the bodycon style. The strapless dress featured a deep plunging neckline, diamond trim around the waist, and a simple, gorgeous train. But Christine’s fashion didn’t stop there. The bride also wore a silky white robe while preparing for her big day, another off-the-shoulder white gown for her reception, and a completely different outfit for Christine — and Danny, too — as they left for Paris. For the ceremony, we loved Danny’s white suit with a white silk tie!

Damian told The Soap Scene that filming the wedding was the longest shoot he had done in a long time — and we can see why. While it was explained that some of the guests (and the wedding planner!) couldn’t make it, there were suprise appearances by Christine’s best friend Nina (Tricia Cast) and Danny’s sister Gina (Patty Weaver).

For their send-off, guests showered the newlyweds with fresh rose petals on their way out the door of the Genoa City Athletic Club. Danny wore a black leather jacket, and Christine was in black slacks and a white, long-sleeve silk blouse.

    What The Guests Wore

Props to the set design department as well for the beautiful transformation of the GCAC dining room into the lavish wedding venue.

Guests arrived in sparkles and shine, and not just from their jewelry. Esther (Kate Linder) was in a black and diamond dress, and Diane (Susan Walters) sparkled in blue. Abby (Melissa Ordway) — who apparently looks great in any color — was in a teal gown with spaghetti straps, while Tessa had a softer look in her flowy lavender dress.

Also wearing lavender was Lauren (Tracey Bregman) as the matron of honor, and officiant Michael (Christian LeBlanc) was in a black tux and bow tie. Best man Daniel (Michael Graziadei) had a modern yet classy look in his gray tux with black lapel and tie (which he took off for his performance).

Tracy's (Beth Maitland) glittering dress was beautiful, but we dare anyone to deny that it wasn't her smile that lit up the room. Amy (Valerie Pettiford) took a fond walk down memory lane with her former singing partners — but that gown she was wearing flowed beautifully to the beat when she declared  it was time to get the party started on the dance floor.

Mandi Line promised all the glitz and glamor of a wedding like only The Young and the Restless can bring — and she delivered.
