Cameron Mathison on Soapy September 30th

Soapy hosted by Rebecca Budig and Greg Rikaart Interview General Hospital's Cameron Mathison

On Tuesday, September 30th, General Hospital star Cameron Mathison joins co-hosts Rebecca Budig and Greg Rikaart on CBS’ podcast series, Soapy.

General Hospital fans, of course, have known actor Cameron Mathison as Drew Cain since he joined the show in 2021. But before that, Mathison played Ryan Lavery in All My Children from 1997 to 2011.

The Soapy interview was a reunion of sorts — while on All My Children, Mathison’s character, Ryan, was married to co-host Rebecca Budig’s character, Greenlee Smythe.

The GH actor shared his memories and insight of the time of Ryan and Greenlee’s AMC pairing, and how it related to his life at the time. “We were married on the show. Ryan and Greenlee definitely had their moment for sure. A long moment. A lot of people remember us together,” Mathison shared.

He fondly recalled to Budig and Rikaart that the Ryan and Greenlee storyline was during what he described as “a fun, magical kind of new chapter of life that we sort of experienced together.”

Mathison said it was a time when he was in his 20s with a lot of changes going on in his life. “Like moving to New York from a small town in Canada,” he explained. Rikaart noted how, at that age, moving, and starting a new life, and then finding success really makes an impact on a person, and those in your sphere. “The people who are along for that ride, at that time, really hold a special place because so much growth is happening, right?” he asks, and Mathison agrees. You can watch the clip below in a sneak peek preview of the Soapy interview with Mathison.

You can see the full episode when it drops on Tuesday, September 30th. Soapy is hosted by soap vets Rebecca Budig (Dr. Taylor Hayes, The Bold and the Beautiful), and Greg Rikaart (Leo Stark, Days of our Lives, and Kevin Fisher, The Young and the Restless).

Soapy is a new audio and video podcast that dives deep into the legacy, fandom, and enduring appeal of soap operas. The show premiered on Tuesday, July 8th, releasing weekly episodes online.  Fans can listen to Soapy hosted by Rebecca Budig and Greg Rikaart on Audacy and other podcast apps, and can watch full videos every week on the CBS Brand YouTube Channel.

Soapy hosted by Rebecca Budig and Greg Rikaart is produced by the Paramount Multiplatform Production Group, and executive produced by Mike Benson. Andrew Pemberton-Fowler serves as producer.
