The Young and the Restless Brings Up Wyatt Spencer — Is a B&B Crossover Coming?

On The Young and the Restless today, Sally Spectra shared details of a painful past relationship with her best friend and business partner, Audra Charles. It may have been a fitting memory for what’s currently happening in Sally’s life, but the moment took some longtime viewers by surprise.

Today on The Young and the Restless, Sally Spectra (Courtney Hope) told her best friend, Audra (Zulekya Silver), that Billy (Jason Thompson) proposed. Audra had some questions — one of which was why Sally hadn’t given Billy an answer yet, suggesting her friend wasn’t ready for that level of commitment.

What happened next came as a surprise.

As longtime viewers will remember, Sally Spectra wasn’t always in Genoa City. The character originated on Y&R’s sister show, The Bold and the Beautiful, in 2017 and crossed over to Y&R in 2020.

In today’s episode, Sally shared with Audra that she was afraid of Billy’s proposal because of a painful past relationship. She explained that she had been engaged a couple of times to someone named Wyatt, but he kept breaking her heart for someone else. Sally even noted that Wyatt never bought her a ring, but the other woman got one. Ouch.

But let’s pause for a moment on Billy’s proposal and focus on what Sally said. Wyatt? L.A.? Yes, we heard right. Sally just took us on a walk down memory lane that led straight to The Bold and the Beautiful… but why now?

Who Is Sally’s Ex, Wyatt?

The “Wyatt” Sally was referring to was none other than Wyatt Spencer on The Bold and the Beautiful. The son of Bill Spencer (Don Diamont) and middle brother to Liam Spencer (Scott Clifton) and Will Spencer (Crew Morrow), Wyatt was played by Darin Brooks for 10 years. Wyatt hasn’t been seen on B&B since 2024, although he’s still mentioned often by his TV family — and fans remain vocal about wanting him back.

“The door is always open on my end,” Brooks told TV Insider in February, revealing that he spoke with B&B’s executive producer and head writer, Bradley Bell, a few months prior. “I talked to Brad a little bit, and we don’t know what’s on the horizon yet, but I’m open to it.”

Interestingly, Brooks also commented that he would be open to being on another soap as well. “I would be open to that, too … I’m back into my acting class again, where I’m getting re-inspired and reinvigorated.”

On the same day, Brooks told Michael Fairman that he missed everyone at B&B, and teased, “You never know” when asked about a possible return in the near future.

Sally’s Memories Aren’t Random

While what Sally mentioned to Audra was factual, the timing felt a little pointed. Yes, she was talking about past proposals, and those painful memories were clearly influencing how she’s viewing Billy’s proposal — but Sally has had other significant relationships since Wyatt.

Most notably, Sally and Adam Newman (Mark Grossman) shared a serious relationship. Not only did Adam propose a few years ago, but he also fathered the baby she lost, Ava. Sally has recently been opening up to both Audra and Billy about Ava, as fears continue to surface that something could go wrong with her current pregnancy.

That’s why this moment stands out. It’s not that the history with Wyatt doesn’t matter — it absolutely does — but it’s the first time in a long time that it’s been brought front and center like this. And that, hopefully, is a sign of something more.

Whether Darin Brooks returns as Wyatt to The Bold and the Beautiful, shows up on The Young and the Restless, or even makes a quick stop in Genoa City on his way back to L.A., it’s hard to imagine his fans being too picky.

However it happens, the point is simple: Any storyline would be worth it just to see him back on screen.
