The Young and the Restless Weekly Recap August 3-7

Mariah came home from treatment, telling Sharon that she was there to stay. She said she had learned a great deal about herself and was feeling better, grateful and ready to move forward. Tessa welcomed her home, and Mariah described the experience as moving from darkness into the light.
Noah warned Mariah that he believed Matt’s redemption was an act, while Mariah pointed out that she had also done terrible things and understood what it meant to actually put in the work to change. Noah remained unconvinced and told her not to let her guard down.
Noah and Sienna ultimately decided to leave for Los Angeles because they did not want to remain around Matt. Noah hoped that by the time they returned, Matt would be gone and Nick would have completed rehab.
Nick’s Recovery Takes a Troubling Turn

Nick spent the beginning of the week struggling through withdrawal at rehab. He had nightmares about Matt hurting Sharon and Noah and woke up convinced that he needed to get out immediately. Once he realized the nightmare was part of his withdrawal, Nick decided not to call Sharon because he did not want to worry his family.
Noah visited his father to tell him that he was leaving for Los Angeles. Nick admitted that he did not want Noah to go but respected his decision. The two shared an emotional goodbye, with Noah promising that he would be there if they needed anything. After Noah left, Nick cried.
Nick was able to attend Victor and Nikki’s vow renewal and insisted that he was following his rehab program. He even told his parents that seeing them together gave him the peace he needed.
The next day, however, the rehab contacted the Newmans because Nick had not returned. When Nick eventually showed up at the ranch, he claimed that he had planned to spend the night with Christian and became defensive when Adam questioned him. He insisted that he would never use drugs in front of his son.
Nick later admitted that Matt’s presence at the ranch was a trigger for him and said he planned to return to rehab. But while his family was trying to locate him, Nick secretly called his dealer, bought fentanyl and took some pills.
Victor and Nikki Renew Their Vows

While Nick was struggling, his parents celebrated one of the week’s happier moments. Victor surprised Nikki with the ring she had previously returned to him and put it back on her finger. The family gathered as the two recommitted to their marriage.
Michael officiated, and Victor and Nikki exchanged new vows about spending the rest of their lives together. Nikki told Victor that despite their stubbornness, she wanted him to remember that he was her world and that she wanted to be by his side.
Their family celebrated the reconciliation, with Abby calling her grandparents an inspiration and Claire saying they had taught her what true love looked like. Nick’s toast was particularly meaningful given everything he was going through. He said that seeing his parents together gave him the peace he needed and called their enduring love proof that love could conquer all.
Victor and Nikki then prepared to leave for Venice, giving themselves a chance to enjoy their new beginning together.
Adam Declares War on Billy

The secret deal between Adam and Sally exploded when Billy told Victor about Adam buying Newman Media, prompting Victor to confront Adam about the deal. Adam insisted that he had gotten the company back for Victor and wanted some gratitude instead of constant second-guessing.
Adam immediately confronted Sally, who was furious with Billy because she believed keeping the deal quiet had been necessary to protect Spectra-Charles from Victor.
Adam’s anger turned into a plan when he told Chelsea that he intended to use Newman Media to damage Billy and Cane’s reputations at Chancellor and force Lily to cut them loose. Chelsea pushed back, telling him that she wanted no part of another campaign against Billy.
Billy, meanwhile, continued digging into Chancellor’s history. He told Cane that he’d discovered a clue involving unexplained money that came into the company before Katherine gave it to Philip and wanted to know more. Cane became increasingly frustrated and warned Billy that he could reconsider having him at Chancellor if he did not let the matter go.
Matt Refuses to Leave Genoa City

Cane questioned Matt about his past and listened as Matt openly acknowledged the terrible things he had done to Nick, Sharon, Noah and Sienna. Matt admitted that he had even tried to kill Sienna and understood that forgiveness might not be possible after all he had done over the years.
Adam confronted him and warned that once someone crossed Victor, they became either a useful tool or an enemy. Matt insisted that he believed he had changed, but he also made it clear that he was staying in Genoa City. He asked Adam and his family to leave him alone and warned that he would hate to be forced into doing something they would all regret.
Mariah was even more direct when Matt approached her at Crimson Lights. She told him that what he called redemption was offensive to people who had actually done the difficult work of changing. Sharon agreed that Matt should go somewhere else and prove himself away from their family.
Matt apologized to Audra when he saw her, but Billy remained suspicious. He told Audra that Matt might either genuinely be trying to become a decent person or be exceptionally good at pretending, which could make him even more dangerous.
Danny Takes Over The Shadow Room

Danny found a new reason to remain in Genoa City when he took over as the manager of The Shadow Room. He told Christine that he planned to continue performing while also spending more time with his family.
Danny also invited Daniel to work with him. Daniel admitted that he had not been doing much with his music because it was not the same without Tessa, but Danny offered him an opportunity to get back to work at the club.
Meanwhile, Claire and Holden’s relationship continued to develop. Claire admitted that she still wanted marriage someday, while Holden said he wanted commitment too despite having spent most of his life dating. They eventually slept together, and Cane later asked Holden to keep an eye on Billy while he investigated Chancellor’s history.
Kyle Still Wants Revenge on Victor

Kyle remained unwilling to simply move past everything Victor had done to his family. Victoria tried to convince him that Victor had changed after nearly losing his life’s work and Nikki, but Kyle was not ready to forgive. He told Victoria that Victor’s war against his family was going to end and that he intended to stop it.
Diane was more cautious when Jack told her that Dr. Laurence Markham had been apprehended and Patty had been transferred to a maximum-security psychiatric ward. She acknowledged that part of her was tempted to support Kyle’s retaliation against Victor, but she ultimately believed they needed to focus on rebuilding their lives instead. Kyle, however, approached his parents ready to discuss how they could hit back at Victor — and hit him hard.
