The Young and the Restless Recap September 3: Phyllis Plots Against Sharon For Matt, Kyle and Victoria Make Secret Plans

TL;DR: In today’s The Young and the Restless recap for Thursday, September 3rd, 2026, Phyllis and Matt plot his return to Genoa City by having him save Sharon, while Adam and Nick worry about Phyllis’ involvement with Matt. Meanwhile, Kyle and Victoria make secret plans, Daniel considers reconnecting with Tessa, and Mariah asks Sharon for her job back.

The Young and the Restless Recap September 3

Adam came into the GCAC and greeted Phyllis, then asked if she’d found her toxic partner. Phyllis said she had not, but when she did, everyone in town would realize they’d underestimated him. Matt fished for information but insisted on knowing why Phyllis was so invested.

“Maybe I’m in love with him,” Phyllis teased. Adam said he couldn’t see them as a couple. He insinuated the they would work together to avenge people who wronged them but Phyllis reminded him that she didn’t need a man to take his family down. 

Adam laughed at the thought but Phyllis walked out confidently. As soon as she was gone, Adam thought about it and looked freaked out before rushing out.

Kyle and Victoria Make Plans

At Crimson Lights, Kyle found Victoria working on Vibrante and teased her to share. She refused, but he put his stuff down on her table and got himself a coffee. Kyle offered her some marketing ideas, and they traded wry smiles and knowing looks as they talked after he returned her earring to her, which she’d dropped in his office. 

After a while, Kyle had to go. He asked if she had a busy day; she did, but she watched him walk out. However, Kyle returned a little bit later. He told Victoria he wanted to see her later that night at the Riverbank Motel. “Safer than meeting at the club,” he said. “I agree,” Victoria told him before he left again.

Mariah Encourages Daniel To Call Tessa

At the Chancellor Park Cafe, Daniel ran into Mariah, and they had an awkward conversation while getting caught up. She asked if he’d talked ot TEssa but they hadn’t. Mariah said that she saw the video from Danny’s wedding and thought they sounded great together. 

Matiah asked again if Daniel and Tessa had spoken, but Daniel asked her why she wanted to know. She explained that part of her therapy was realizing that she’d been unavailable to her wife and child. “I guess I”m just trying to say that anything that happened while I was gone, I don’t blame anyone for. So if you miss Tessa and you miss your friendship, I would understand,” Mariah said.

Daniel told Mariah that he thought it was great that things worked out for their marriage. She told him it didn’t mean that he and Tessa couldn’t be friends. “I think she misses you, too. Maybe you should give her a call,” Mariah suggested.

Daniel explained that he’d been in a holding pattern since Heather died, but spending time with Tessa and music really helped him move on. Daniel told Mariah how he was working at the Shadow Room with his dad now. Mariah thought that was great and suggested that he and Tessa perform there together.

Before Mariah left, she told Daniel that whenever she was at a crossroads in her life, she thought of Cassie and how at least she still had a life. Daniel agreed that he tried to honor that, too. Mariah wished him well and left Daniel deep in thought. 

Sharon Visits Nick

At the rehab, Sharon came in as Nick and Marie were playing cards. It was an awkward introduction, as Marie could tell that Sharon knew who she was. Sharon told Marie that she was glad she was doing better. Marie made it clear that she and Nick were close inside the rehab.

Marie eventually left them alone, and Sharon told Nick she wanted to see how he was after Phyllis’ visit. They talked about her relationship with Matt and how determined she was to find him. Sharon said she tried to get Phyllis to just let him go; she was afraid of how bad things could get if she didn’t.

After Sharon left again, Marie returned and told Nick that she didn’t want to always be known as a damsel in distress. Nick said Phyllis had to bring him back to life, too. Marie noted that Phyllis viscerally hated on her, and said that Sharon just used a pathetic tone. “Well, for whatever it’s worth, both of those women divorced me,” Nick said.

Phyllis and Matt Have a Plan For His Return

Phyllis went to the Riverbank Motel to see Matt. He was working out and said that the finish line seemed pretty far away, but if she believed that the infamous Matt Clark could be redeemed, then there was hope. She told him they were going to make friends out of his enemies.

Phyllis told Matt that Adam asked about him, but she lied and said she didn’t know where he was to protect him. She thought they had to do something good but make it look unplanned. Matt suggested something like saving another life, maybe hers.

Phyllis didn’t think that was a great idea since no one would care if she died, but also because it would look too obvious that they colluded. She thought it would be better if it was someone close to the Newmans: Sharon. Matt balked, saying that after everything he’d done to her, he couldn’t put her through more. Phyllis thought it was the perfect way to prove himself to everyone.

Matt insisted that Sharon couldn’t be in real trouble. Phyllis told him they would work it out so he could step in before anything got out of hand and be the hero. Matt wasn’t sure it was a good idea but Phyllis told him that after the Newmans see him step in and save the day, they would only see him in a different light.

Adam Meets Marie

Adam came to the rehab, and Marie introduced herself as the queen of the stomach pump. She added that she was happy to be alive thanks to Nick. “You’re so popular,” Marie said to Nick before leaving. Adam told Nick that he shouldn’t have let him leave the ranch that night, or made him take those drugs in Vegas.

Nick told Adam that his feeling guilty wasn’t helping him any, and all that remorse was freaking him out.

Adam said he’d go back to being an ass and warned him if he kept hanging out at rehab, he’d be Victor’s favorite son. They bantered, poorly, then brought up Matt.

Nick said Phyllis hanging out with Matt worried him, and Adam agreed. Adam shared how Phyllis accused them of doing something to Matt and dumping his body. “Did we do that? Because I wouldn’t have a problem with it,” Nick said. Adam told him he didn’t think so, but Matt just disappeared. 

Nick thought they needed to find Matt before Phyllis did. Adam shared that Phyllis suggested she was in love with the guy. Nick was blown away by that; Adam assured him he’d keep an eye on things. 

Mariah Asks Sharon For Her Job Back

Mariah came to see Sharon at Crimson Lights and told her about her visit with Nick — and that she met Marie. Sharon tried to say she was happy that Nick had a friend there, but Mariah could tell she wasn’t as pleased as she claimed.

Mariah told Sharon about her meeting with Daniel. Sharon thought it all sounded positive for both of them. Mariah said she was ready to do more in Cassie’s memory. She asked to come back to work at Cassidy First.
