The Young and the Restless Recap October 1

At the ranch, Victoria was beside herself with worry as Nick had stormed out after he’d learned that Marie had been found unconscious. She told Adam and her parents that it was their fault for being the ones who gave him disturbing news. Adam pointed out the elephant in the room: they were all worried Nick left to get high.
Victoria told them that Nick didn’t need to know anything about it. Adam told her he would have found out eventually, and he’d be more upset if he found out they knew and didn’t tell him. Victor listened as Victoria and Adam argued, then stopped them. He insisted they work together, so they apologized to one another.
Adam reluctantly shared that the paramedics had found Marie in Nick’s bed the last time she’d OD’d. Victoria and Adam started slamming Marie, but Nikki told them to stop. They were talking like she was a degenerate because she had an addiction, but Nikki pointed out that Nick could have just as easily been the one in the hospital. Victoria apologized again for being so judgmental and agreed that Nikki was right. Victor told Adam to track down Nick and make sure he didn’t use again.
Victoria cried that she wanted the Nick she knew back but Nikki explained that Nick was an addict and that he was forever changed and she had to accept that. Later, alone, Nikki pointed out to Victor that Adam was the one keeping the family intact.
Nikki wondered if Victoria was right and if they should have told Nick. Victor said their son was a rescuer; Nikki mused that sometimes they wer the ones who needed to be rescued.
Nick Hunts For Joe

Nick went to Crimson Lights looking for Joe. He told Sharon that he’d gone by the hospital, but Marie was in ICU, and they wouldn’t let him in after OD’ing. He insisted she was a good person, didn’t have family, and needed to find the dealer to make him pay. Sharon suggested he call the police to find him instead.
Sharon worried that any connection between him and Joe was dangerous. She knew he meant it in the moment, but he was newly sober, and going after him would put him right back in that world again. Sharon reminded Nick that Marie wasn’t his responsibility.
Nick appreciated Sharon suggesting he call Jack to check in on Marie instead, but he was angry and laser-focused on getting Joe off the streets. He regretted not helping Marie more when she said she was leaving. Nick recalled how angry she was that he saved her life, and now he understood. He blamed himself for not being there for her.
Adam walked in, relieved to find Nick. “I just left the ranch. What, did you think you’d find me dead or something?” Nick snapped. He told Adam he didn’t need a search party.
Adam and Sharon agreed Nick shouldn’t be alone right now. Sharon told Adam that Nick wanted to go after Joe. Nick snapped that after Marie’s OD, he knew he’d never go down that path again, but he needed them to back off. “I care about this woman! I will not let her suffering be for nothing!” Nick bellowed at them.
Lily Confides In Nate

Nate and Stephanie had a dinner date at the GCAC and were kissing when Lily walked in and said she’d just returned from Chicago. Stephanie invited her to join them, but Lily asked to speak to Nate privately.
Nate walked Stephanie out, and she told him she couldn’t wait to see him tomorrow with the bandage off his arm. He kissed her goodbye, then returned to Lily. He was shocked when Lily told him that in Chicago, she was told that her cancer may have come back.
Lily explained the doctor found an enlarged pelvic lymph node, so she’d gone to see an oncologist in Chicago. She didn’t have the results yet from the tests they did, and was scared it was cancer and wanted Nate’s opinion.
Nate told Lily that if it was malignant, it sounded like it was caught early but had no reason to think the worst. He was just glad that Lily was comfortable enough to share it with him. Lily felt bad for dumping it on him, but Nate assured her that no matter what or when it was, he wanted to be there for her.
Lily relayed a story about a group of women she went through chemo with, and one of them, Grace, was the first to go into remission. But the cancer came back, and she died later, and Lily has always worried that would happen to her.
Billy and Sally Named Names

At Society, Abby stopped at Billy and Sally’s table to ask about the wedding preparations. She told Sally that if her dress was anything like what she’d designed for her and Victoria, it would be spectacular.
Abby asked if Billy and Sally knew if the baby was a boy or girl. They swore they still didn’t know, although Billy reminded Sally they could find out if they wanted to. After Abby walked away, they tried picking a name. Sally was convinced she was having a boy; Billy was sure it was a girl.
When Abby returned, they told her they were thinking of Dylan for a girl or a boy. Abby told Sally she really liked her, and said that now they were going to be family; she was looking forward to getting to know her better. “I’d like that, too,” Sally said as Billy smiled.
Phyllis Plots With Cane

Meanwhile at the bar, Phyllis told Cane that her lawyers had already drawn up the paperwork. He laughed at her audacity and said that she’d just asked him that morning and could give him some more time to consider. He admitted he was interested in what she’d do, so he’d give her the GCAC and the building across from Newman for a price.
Cane wanted to know whether she had a master plan or was just winging it. Phyllis said she was going to change the lives of everyone in Genoa City. “So if you’re a betting man, you should back me, because you have no idea how far I’m willing to go,” she dared.
Cane told Phyllis he was rooting for her. She found that hard to believe, and reminded him how she drugged him and stole Newman from him. Cane said in retrospect, she did him a favor.
As they agreed to talk in the morning, Lily came in and overheard. Once alone, she asked Cane what it was about. Cane said he was selling some properties to Phyllis because he didn’t care about them, and they reminded him of being Dumas.
They sat down, and Cane asked about her sudden trip to Chicago. Lily told him there was nothing going on; she just needed some space. “I really missed you,” Lily told him. Cane said he missed her too, and they kissed.
