The Young and the Restless Recap May 7: Matt Clark Returns to Genoa City, Cane Promises To Break Bail If Needed
TL;DR: In today’s Young and the Restless recap, Nick verbally attacks Phyllis, Cane makes a bold promise to Lily, Audra and Claire trade sharp accusations over coffee, and Sienna is terrified that Matt Clark is alive and lurking, and he is, at the Genoa City Athletic Club.
The Young and the Restless Recap May 7

Lily went to Traci’s and burst into tears on her shoulder. Lily told Traci how Cane had tested positive to be a donor and all the reasons he did it. Traci said that he was still the same Cane that she loved after all.
Lily revealed that Cane had been arrested, and she didn’t know the details, but Cane said the evidence had been faked. Traci said all she had to say was Victor Newman for her to know that. Lily wondered if it was a sign that everything was going to fall apart.
Traci reasoned that there was time to sort it out while Malcolm did chemo. They talked about Holden, and Traci pointed out how different Holden’s life would have been if they’d had more time together to know one another better. She thought that having them all wanting Malcolm to be well would be a tremendous bond to share, the kind that changes lives.
Nick Confronts Phyllis

Nick came to Phyllis’ office and said he’d heard she’d been arrested and told her she had no shame. Phyllis said that Victor and Christine should be ashamed. Nick barked at her that she was going to go to prison.
Phyllis asked where her champion had gone and whether he, too, had succumbed to the almighty Victor Newman, then laughed that he wasn’t powerful anymore. Nick asked if losing her kids wasn’t enough, now she’d lose everything, including what she’d stolen.
Nick promised her kids would not be back in her life, and she needed to take the nearest exit ramp, pat herself on the back, and convince herself that she taught them all a lesson. “Because whatever point it is you were trying to make is the only thing you’re going to have left!” Nick snapped as Phyllis smiled calmly.
Phyllis told Nick she was tired of everyone being told not to do to Victor what he’s done to everyone else in the world. Nick growled that she makes it hard for anyone to care about her.
Nick ranted until Phyllis told him to stop shouting and asked what was really going on with him. “Why are you asking that, because you’re such a deep and caring person?” Nick swiped. Phyllis said some things are more than business.
Phyllis said she could tell something was off and wanted to know what. Nick went off on Phyllis some more, angrily telling her to stop but then saying he didn’t care what happened to her anymore.
Audra and Claire Clash Over Coffee

At the Chancellor Park Cafe, Audra and Claire went for the same table, but it was the only one left. Audra suggested they share it. As they had their coffees, Audra rambled about how busy she was at work and sifted through emails.
Before long, they were exchanging snark. Claire noted that part of Audra’s company was stolen: Newman Media. “It’s kind of a theme for you, theft,” she added. Audra asked if she was supposed to know what Claire was talking about.
“Would an apology help?” Audra asked. “Claire, I am so sorry I am killing it in my position, and you have no one left to hand you a job you don’t deserve.” Claire shot back that Audra used sex to get what she wanted. Audra countered that Claire protected Newmans after trying to kill them all.
And with that, their coffee break was over.
Sienna’s Regrets and Worries

At Sharon’s, Sienna wore Noah’s sweater and told him that it was the only thing that made her feel familiar to what normal used to be. She said that Matt was either in hell or coming to put them in hell, and she couldn’t relax until she knew which.
Noah said that Sienna needed sleep and it would help. He promised her that she was safe, then convinced her to take a nap. After she went upstairs, Noah left a message for Victor to update him on his team’s search for Matt.
Nick came by and told Noah that so far, they hadn’t found Matt’s car or his body. They talked briefly, then Nick left, but when Noah turned around, Sienna was there, and more stressed than earlier. She told Noah that they would’ve found a body if she’d left one.
Sienna regretted not staying with Matt to make sure he didn’t wake up. She said you can’t kill the devil, and now he was out there and they won’t see him coming. “He is coming, Noah, I can feel it. I think he’s already here,” Sienna told him.
Cane Makes a Promise To Lily

At Crimson Lights, Lily met Holden and was surprised when Cane walked in. He said he made bail, and the evidence was courtesy of AI. Holden said they needed to talk about Malcolm, and Cane shared that he couldn’t leave town.
Lily couldn’t believe it as she told Christine it was a life-or-death situation, and she said she’d tell the judge. Cane confirmed that Amanda made the request, but they got turned down. Holden told Lily that Stephanie said Cane’s part could be done in Genoa City and they’d courier it to NYC, but Lily didn’t want to risk something going wrong.
Cane pulled Lily to the patio to talk. While Holden waited, Claire came in and told him that she wanted to go to New York with him and regretted not saying yes earlier. She said it was important to be a good friend in his time of need.
Holden said she needed to get away from Genoa City, and wanted to be a good friend. He suggested they find some time for some fun while there. Claire added that if he told her about his real past with Audra while there, she’d consider it a bonus.
Meanwhile, on the patio, Cane rubbed Lily’s arms and told her that they had to take things as they came, and not try to sit in fear of things going wrong. Cane promised Lily that if she needed him in New York, then he would break his bail to be there.
Phyllis Meets Matt

Phyllis summarized that Cane wanted to be this new version of himself that was a force to be reckoned with, but now they don’t get along because he reverted into this lovesick wimp. “Just trying to keep up. So are you for or against reinvention?” Matt asked.
“I created a hotel called The Grand Phoenix. There’s your answer,” Phyllis laughed. Matt said it all sounded good, but he just wished he could remember who he was. “What I wouldn’t give for a memory wipe right now,” Phyllis mused.
Behind them, Nick marched in. There were people around Matt, so he didn’t notice, but he saw Phyllis sitting at the bar.
