TL;DR: In today’s Young and the Restless recap, Phyllis whacks Matt with a vase and texts Nick a photo as proof for their exchange. Meanwhile, Nick tries to convince Victoria he’s on the road to recovery while hiding his fentanyl, and Billy and Sally decide on a big October wedding.
The Young and the Restless Recap May 20

Sally met Billy at Society, but as she walked up, he got off of his phone quickly, so she asked what that was about. After some teeth pulling and knowing that he couldn’t keep secrets even if it meant blowing a surprise, Billy admitted that he was talking to a wedding planner.
Billy said the downside was that the planner was booked for three years. Sally and Billy began sharing ideas on what type of wedding they’d like to have. Sally’s ear perked up when Billy suggested they tribute her carny days growing up and have a carnival-themed wedding.
Sally didn’t think it was a bad idea, and they tossed around some ideas of details. Eventually, Billy said he liked to go big but thought a small, intimate wedding might be better. Sally told him that with her first wedding and their first baby, she wanted to go big, and thought it would be great to show off both by getting married while she was showing.
Sally suggested an October wedding. They said they could figure out the date that would work later, but Billy wanted her to know how happy he was and said he was the luckiest man in the world.
Victor Draws The Line With Michael

Michael met Victor at the bar at GCAC, as requested. Victor wanted to know whether Phyllis had agreed to hand over the company and Matt in exchange for her charges being dropped. Michael told him how stubborn Phyllis was, but Victor said that if they found Matt first, she had no leverage.
Victor reminded Michael that he wouldn’t hesitate to put Phyllis in prison if he had to. He warned him that if he cared at all about Phyllis and had a shred of loyalty left for Victor, he better get her to change her mind.
Michael wasn’t confident he could make that happen, but Victor told him he expected an answer by the end of the day.
Phyllis Takes Control With Matt

In Matt’s room, Phyllis told him that she was trying to protect him. She said the Newmans knew he was in town, and he didn’t stand a chance against them. “The only place you’re safe is with me,” she insisted. Matt thought it was confusing that she didn’t want him to leave the room but also not leave town.
Phyllis told Matt that she thought she could broker a conversation with Nick to get him to see that Matt had changed and to forgive and move on. After some debate, Phyllis agreed she should just help Matt leave town.
As Matt moved around the room to pack his things, Phyllis grabbed a heavy vase and whacked him on the back of the head to knock him out. She was interrupted by Michael, who wanted to meet with her, so she told him to meet her in her room in 15 minutes.
Michael Tries to Wrangle Phyllis To Do What Victor Wants

When Michael arrived, he told Phyllis that her best move was to give Victor what he wanted. Phyllis told Michael that he lacked creativity and she had to think outside the box herself to get what she wanted, and that Victor was no longer relevant.
When Michael pressed on Victor’s behalf, Phyllis fired him. Michael got mad and said she had begged him to represent her, but she told him to give her a bill and go because he was clearly working for Victor, not her. Michael said she was reckless and stormed out.
When he came down the stairs, Victor was in the lobby and asked for an update. Michael told him that despite knowing Victor’s deadline, there was no deal, and he was fired.
Nick Lies To Victoria

While Nick was waiting for Victoria at Crimson Lights, his bag of fentanyl fell out of his pocket, but he noticed just before she walked in. She rambled about their parents and the company, but then told Nick that she was worried about him.
Victoria reminded Nick that she promised to be there for him and asked if he’d started rehab. Nick lied and said he’d just come from his first meet and greet, but Victoria had a lot of questions that he couldn’t answer. Victoria noted that Nikki was his sponsor and asked if he’d talked to her.
Nick claimed he didn’t want to burden Nikki and that he could handle it all on his own. Nick distracted Victoria with videos of Christian, but she wondered how he was so chill with everything going on. She was convinced that his evasiveness meant he was hiding something, but Nick looked her in the eye and swore he was telling her the truth and he had everything under control.
Phyllis Gives Nick The Proof He Wants

Nick got a call from Phyllis and told Victoria it was one of the doctors from earlier. He took the call on the patio so Victoria couldn’t hear. Phyllis asked for an update and told Nick she was ready to do the exchange.
Nick told Phyllis that Christine wouldn’t do the deal without some sort of proof that Matt was in custody, and Nick said he’d feel better with the same. Phyllis texted him a photo of Matt tied up and lying on the floor.
