The Young and the Restless Recap May 15: Lily Kisses Cane, Nick Overrides Victor’s Deal, Matt Disappears

TL;DR:  In today’s Young and the Restless recap, Lily and Cane share a kiss after Cane’s stem cell procedure. Holden and Claire grow closer in New York as they worry about Malcolm’s upcoming surgery. Nick buys fentanyl and pushes Victor to accept Phyllis’s deal. However, Phyllis discovers a shocking twist when she returns to Matt’s hotel room and finds he has vanished.

The Young and the Restless Recap May 15

In New York City, Holden and Claire checked into their rooms, and Stephanie came over to update them. She said that Cane’s stem cells had been harvested and that Lily would be coming once Cane was settled in.

Stephanie told Holden that Malcolm was being prepped for surgery and that she’d let him know when he could visit him. Once Stephanie left, Holden tried to distract himself by looking at places to show Claire, but she told him she knew he was nervous and it was okay.

Holden admitted he was processing the fact that Lily, Devon, and Nate didn’t even like him, and now they were family. On top of that, he just found out he had a father, and now he might lose him.

Claire understood, and empathized with how he felt, as she had been through something like it. As she talked, she talked about Cole and burst into tears, so Holden comforted her.

Later, Claire and Holden had a long kiss and decided it meant that they were taking a small step towards meaning more to one another.

Phyllis Advises Matt

Upstairs in Matt’s hotel room, Phyllis brought Matt some clothes so he’d fit in more, and some breakfast. He told her he was feeling a little cooped up and wanted to go out, but Phyllis snapped that he had to stay in.

Phyllis calmed down and told him that she didn’t think he should leave the room because he didn’t know what the Newmans had against him. Matt said that was probably a good idea, and shared another memory he had of fighting with someone in the park. 

Matt told her the guy looked fit, like he peaked in high school kind of way. He asked if it rang a bell at all or if she would know who he was remembering. 

Michael Wants Phyllis To Give Back Newman Enterprises

In the GCAC dining room, Michael brought Lauren up to date on the situation with Phyllis, Matt, and Victor. When Phyllis came downstairs, they warned her she was playing with fire.

Phyllis was confident that Nick wanted Matt, but Michael countered that Victor loved his company like it was his child. Phyllis reported that Matt was scared, as anyone would be when they lost their memory. Michael pressed Phyllis to give the company back to Victor, but she told him to forget it. Before going back upstairs, she was clear: Victor could take Matt whenever he wanted, but the company was a hard no.

Nick Wants Victor To Take Phyllis’ Deal

In Chancellor Park, Nick met a guy and bought a bag of fentanyl from him. He took a pill and then went to the ranch, where he stopped on the porch before going into the main house. He tried to get it together but pulled out a bag of fentanyl and took a pill before going into the house. 

Inside, Adam was waiting for him and said that they had to ensure that Phyllis really had Matt. Nick said that any delays risked Matt getting away again, and they should’ve just traded Matt for Phyllis’ freedom.

Adam said Victor wanted that too, but Nick lamented that Victor was making it too complicated instead of letting the Matt issue be resolved that same day.

Nick warned that Phyllis would be busy looking for a Plan B to keep the company, and that while they waited, things would go sideways with Matt. Adam snapped that there was no Plan B — either Phyllis gave over Matt and the company, or she went to prison, period.

When Victor came in, Nick told him that Matt wants to see him and his family dead, and the only deal they should make is to get him immediately.

Victor was confident that Christine was motivated to put Phyllis in prison and wasn’t going to back down on his demands. Nick told him they would have to agree to disagree and walked out.

Lily Kisses Cane

On the train, Lily brought Cane home to get him settled in. Cane gave the staff the day off as he thought he would be having surgery instead of being an outpatient. Lily teased him about being a baby, and he teased her back when she offered to make him something to eat.

Cane warmly took Lily’s hand and told her he was glad she was there, and she felt the same. Lily hung out, and they chatted, reminisced, and laughed together. Cane hoped it meant that Lily didn’t hate him anymore.

Lily told Cane that she didn’t hate him. “How do you feel about me?” he asked. She told him that she was glad that she could see the man she fell in love with was still in there, and grateful for what he was doing.

Lily checked in with Holden and told him that it meant a lot to her that he was there for Malcolm in New York. “And it means a lot to me, too,” she added. When she hung up, Lily prepared to go to NYC. Before leaving, she paused and looked at Cane, then leaned over and kissed him.

Phyllis’ New Deal…Maybe

Nick came to the GCAC looking for Phyllis, but Michael told him that she just went upstairs.

In Matt’s room, Phyllis knocked several times to no avail. She saw the master key hanging on the maid’s cart and used it to open the door. She called out hello, but there was no answer.

Phyllis came downstairs and headed for the door, but Nick stopped her. Nick told Phyllis to bring him to Matt, but she said she hadn’t heard from Victor, and she wasn’t agreeing to his terms.

Nick told Phyllis that he would go to Christine himself and get the charges dropped, but she had to hand Matt Clark over to him.
