The Young and the Restless Recap June 9: Lily Stuns Victoria, Adam Confronts Billy, and the Shadow Room opens
TL;DR: In today’s Young and the Restless recap, the Shadow Room opens its doors to Genoa City, but old memories and new rivalries create tension among the guests. Billy and Adam share a volatile drink where past trauma regarding Delia is brought to the surface, while Lily tells Victoria she’s the new owner of Chancellor.
The Young and the Restless Recap June 9

At Crimson Lights, Sharon overheard Nick calling Newman Security for an update on Matt. He told her that Matt was still acting remorseful, but it was messing with his head. When Matt was evil, he knew where he stood, but this guy was hard to understand.
Sharon agreed and didn’t know if they could even believe Matt’s turnaround. She was aghast when Nick shared that Victor moved Matt onto the ranch.
Malcolm and Stephanie Reflect on the Past

At the GCAC, Lily, Holden, Stephanie, and Malcolm had dinner and chatted, but Holden had to get going as he was going with Claire to the grand opening of the new Shadow Room. He suggested that they all go, and Malcolm happily said it should be a family affair.
After Holden and Lily left to get ready, Malcolm warmly told Stephanie how much he was enjoying getting to know Holden. He said when they broke up, he just thought it would happen and moved on, but here they have something between them that will bond them forever. “Who knew?” Malcolm asked. “Me,” Stephanie replied.
Stephanie still regretted keeping her secret, but Malcolm assured her that he didn’t judge her for the choices she made and said he’d never hold her actions against Holden. “I could hold it against you and be angry, or I could choose gratitude,” Malcolm explained. With a smile, he said he chose the latter.
The Shadow Room Opens Its Doors

At the Shadow Room, Sienna and Noah were excited about the grand opening, but Noah was nervous. His bartenders weren’t there and were half an hour late, but Sienna stepped up to run the bar.
Guests started pouring in, including Audra and Sally. Audra had a flashback to when Holden punched out the art dealer in the Shadow Room in L.A., and the man died. When she snapped out of it, she and Sienna made eye contact.
Noah came to greet Audra and Sally, then invited them to get a drink at the bar. Audra introduced Sienna and Sally, but Sienna was more interested in hinting about Audra and Holden’s past than in making them a drink.

Sally could tell that Sienna didn’t like Audra much and that Audra had a flashback of some sort when she first walked in. She wondered if it had to do with Holden, and if Sienna knew what it was. Before Audra could answer, Holden and Claire walked in.
Holden also had a flashback of that ill-fated night with Audra. When he snapped out of it, Audra, Sally, Sienna, and Claire had noticed. Sharon came in and happily greeted Noah, noting Nick had to tend to Christian, who had a fever.
When Holden, Lily, and Stephanie walked in, Malcolm was happy to see her. Malcolm revealed that Holden was his son, surprising Sharon a second time. Lily and Stephanie got a table with Malcolm, and they tried to convince him to move to back to Genoa City.
Meanwhile, Sienna greeted Holden and Claire at the bar. For a moment, Claire and Sally got talking, and Holden took the chance to ask Audra if being there wasn’t freaking her out too. She told him to let it go.
Lily and Victoria Clash Over Chancellor

Lily passed Victoria just as she arrived, and she said she was glad to hear her happy news. Lily thought that was rather big of her, but then they realized they were talking about two different things. Victoria had meant Malcolm’s surgery, so Lily told her that Victor gave her Chancellor.
Victoria was furious and said not to get too settled in because once she spoke to her father, the deal would be off. Lily assured her it was done. “You would do that to my mother?” Victoria gasped. Lily laughed and said she most definitely would, then tried to remind Victoria of things her mom did to her.
Victoria got a phone call and took it outside, so Lily went back to her table. There, she told Malcolm that she owned Chancellor and would let Cane run it. He thought it was great, noted she must trust Cane, and thought that she should.
Malcolm Says Goodbye

Malcolm also thanked Lily for giving Holden a chance. He told her he was getting tired and didn’t want to overdo it and was heading out. Malcolm said goodbye to Stephanie, Claire, and Holden before going.
Audra told Sharon that she loved Noah’s club. She got side eyes from Sally and glares from Sienna behind the bar when she said she looked forward to spending more time there. Later, Sharon made a toast to the bar’s opening and to Noah.
Billy and Adam Share a Drink

At Society, Billy went to the bar and ordered himself a scotch, neat, and bought Adam a drink as well. He told Adam he was surprised he wasn’t on the East Coast at the fundraiser with Victor (in reference to the Beyond the Gates crossover event this week). He suggested he would’ve embarrassed his dad, so he wasn’t invited.
When they commented on the fact that Victor and Jack would be in the same room at the fundraiser, Billy quipped about wondering who would emerge unscathed. Adam said that was one thing Billy never accepted: Newmans always won.
Adam wondered if there would be a day that the two of them wouldn’t hate one another. Turning serious, Billy told Adam that he hated him so that he wouldn’t hate himself. “Because I killed your daughter,” Adam said.
Adam Brings Up Delia

Adam told Billy that not a day went by that he didn’t think of what happened, and all the pain and remorse would flood back up. “I don’t believe that, not for a second, Adam,” Billy replied. He said that Adam was someone who pushes it deep and hopes it goes away, no matter how much he pretends to have a conscience.
“It’s true,” Adam insisted. He swore that he meant it, and that he knew his apologies would never be enough. Adam thought the curse was that they could never find peace with one another. “I couldn’t. Even if I wanted to,” Billy said.
Adam told Billy that he had a dream about Delia, and she gave him advice about penance and hurting. Billy agreed it sounded like something she’d say but also hoped she wouldn’t think about Adam.
Upset by the conversation, Billy accused Adam of setting up the conversation to somehow absolve Adam of his guilt, but he swore it wasn’t and said he wouldn’t be that cruel. Billy told him that it was his natural instinct to hurt a wounded animal. “Don’t ever mention Delia to me again,” he seethed before marching out.
