The Young and the Restless Recap June 4

Nick talks with Nikki and Victoria at the GCAC

At GCAC, Nikki was suffering from a migraine, and Victoria was worried that it was more serious than a symptom of her MS, as Nikki claimed. Victoria took matters into her own hands and called Nikki’s doctor. Nikki told her to hang up and assured her that it was just the stress from all the family crises.

Nick came in and told them that he’d just come from the rehab facility’s first session, and he was feeling good. Victoria staunchly pointed out that they’d heard all of that before from him, and then he turned around and took so much fentanyl that he nearly died. She wanted to know how they could believe him this time.

Nick agreed that he messed up, but he was making sobriety his priority. He told them that he’d also backed Phyllis into a corner and was sure he was getting the company back. He added that it was hard because she saved his life, but as far as her having the company, it was game over.

Phyllis Refuses to Surrender Without Immunity

At Crimson Lights, Michael saw Phyllis working, just like Lauren had been when he saw her that morning. He wondered if he’d imagined the conversation he and Phyllis had the night before about a strategic retreat from Newman Enterprises, but Phyllis informed him that she’d changed her mind. She noted that not only would Victor forgive and forget, but she’d be putting herself in the hands of a man and woman she didn’t trust.

Michael thought Christine would be fair. Phyllis said she’d have to drop all charges and any bogus ones that she, Nick, or Victor had come up with. She said that if she were to give up the company, she’d have to know she was walking away free and clear.

Michael said she could count on Nick being on her side, but Phyllis pointed out that they did just have a deal, and not only did he turn on her, but he also concocted lies to tell the police to have her thrown in jail. She balked again, saying he was just like the rest of them and the sooner she accepted it, the better. She reiterated that the only way she would consider handing over the company was if she had it in writing from both Victor and Christine that there would be no charges.

Michael thought they could get it done — together. She thanked him for not quitting on her, even when she fired him, and he said she didn’t make it easy on him, but they were friends. Phyllis hugged him before they left.

Adam and Chelsea Face a Baby Question

Adam and Chelsea | The Young and the Restless | CBS

Adam met Chelsea at Crimson Lights and gushed about all the strides that Connor had made recently, signing himself up for baseball and getting a girlfriend. She chalked it up to their stellar parenting. Adam agreed but asked if she was ready to consider parenting another baby.

Chelsea was taken aback, but Adam said it wasn’t that out-there of a question. Chelsea wasn’t sure she wanted to be pregnant again and then realized that he might be suggesting it because Sally was having a baby. Adam agreed it might’ve planted the seed, but he’d thought a lot about it since having the idea.

Chelsea told Adam she didn’t want to go through another pregnancy and just wanted to focus on Connor. She didn’t want to squash his dreams of having another child, but wanted to be honest. Adam told her that he had no problem with her response and said that what they had with Connor would always be enough for him, no matter what. He apologized in case he made her uncomfortable by dropping the idea on her the way he did.

Adam Opens Up About Ava’s Lasting Impact

Chelsea told Adam that if hearing that Sally was pregnant had an impact on him, she wouldn’t be upset hearing about it. She thought he was triggered by memories of Ava, and if he didn’t share his feelings, then things would fester more than he realized.

Adam admitted that hearing Sally was pregnant reopened some old wounds where Ava lives. He said she was in his heart, and he talked to her sometimes and could almost hear her voice and laugh. Chelsea thought that was beautiful. Adam said that hearing Sally was pregnant brought back some of the pain, but he knew he couldn’t bring Ava back. But he was also sure that it had nothing to do with asking Chelsea to have another child.

Phyllis Forces Victor to Tell the Truth

Nick was at the main house and opened the door when  Michael, Phyllis, and a displeased Christine walked in, much to Victor’s surprise. He told Michael that when he said he was coming, he didn’t realize the other two were coming with him. Nick said he hoped Phyllis was there to take him up on his offer. Christine said she was as much in the dark as anyone else.

“Tell her you set me up,” Phyllis directed Victor. She told him that all the emails were fake to force her hand, and that he needed to tell Christine the truth. “Why the hell would I do that?” Victor asked. “I’ll give it all back. I’ll give you Newman Enterprises. You won,” Phyllis said.

Christine snapped that she wouldn’t be extorted into dropping charges, nor had she agreed to. She said that unless someone gave her a compelling reason to close the case, the charges against Phyllis would stand. “Since when is it called extortion to do the right thing?” Phyllis clapped back. Michael said it wouldn’t be extortion if Victor admitted that the evidence was fabricated, as the case would fall apart through no fault of Christine’s.

Christine Learns the Newman Evidence Was Fake

Christine pointed out what Victor and Victoria said to her when they brought the evidence to her. Nick intervened to calmly tell Christine that Phyllis was the mother of his child and that they had a long friendship, and they really just wanted to put it all behind them without someone — anyone — going to prison. “I don’t know if you know this, but I recently almost died. And Phyllis saved my life,” Nick added. “In that moment, I think we were all reminded what really mattered in life. Didn’t we, Dad?” “I shall not implicate myself to take back what is rightfully mine,” Victor replied.

Christine asked Victor to be honest with her. “Did you or did you not fabricate the evidence?” she asked Victor. Victor refused to respond as Michael and Phyllis asked him again. Victoria came in, and Nick quickly summarized what was happening; Victor assured his daughter he hadn’t said anything. Christine told Victor again that he needed to hear from him that he fabricated the emails if she was to believe he did so without them being proven otherwise by forensics.

Victor waited until Christine was walking out the door to tell her that he did what he felt was necessary to get back what was stolen from him. Christine went off on Victor and his family for using her in their corporate power games. She wished she’d trusted her instincts that Phyllis wouldn’t have been so careless as to put her plans in writing. “That’s a compliment,” Phyllis pointed out.

Victor Reclaims Newman Enterprises

Christine said she wouldn’t make the same mistake again of trusting Victor or Victoria.  Victor admitted he had no proof that Phyllis stole the company, but wouldn’t provide her with evidence that the emails were fabricated until all the charges against Phyllis were dropped. “Seems like I have no choice.” Christine grimaced before leaving.

When the door shut, Phyllis and Victor thanked each other. Michael promised the paperwork would be signed and delivered within the hour. Victor was tearful when he looked at Nick and Victoria and said, “We won.” Victor called Adam and told him to bring Chelsea to the ranch, as he had to tell him something.

Shortly after Adam and Chelsea arrived, the Newman legal department messaged that it was a done deal. They had champagne and toasted to Victor, “the rightful owner of Newman Enterprises, a great CEO, and a better father.” Victor told them that their loyalty and support meant everything to him. “Newman Enterprises is back where it belongs. Let’s drink to that,” he toasted.

Privately aside, Victor thanked Victoria for being by his side and keeping his spirits up throughout the ordeal. Victoria quietly reminded him that someone was missing and asked if he’d consider including Nikki. She suggested that with the nightmare behind them, he and Nikki could find their way back to one another.

Phyllis Publicly Blasts Christine After the Deal

Phyllis and Michael returned to the GCAC bar, and Michael told her she did the right thing. Phyllis wasn’t sure how to tell Lauren what she’d done. Michael thought she’d be fine with it, noting that now everyone could breathe again. “You can all breathe. You didn’t just lose everything,” Phyllis sighed.

Michael reminded Phyllis that she played a dangerous game with the big boys, and she won. “Then I lost,” she said. Michael wouldn’t let her have a pity party and reminded her that now everything would change, she’d have her kids back, and everyone would forgive each other. Just then, Christine came in.

Despite Michael’s protests to sit down and be quiet, Phyllis marched over to Christine and confronted her in front of the dining room. She said she could have just believed her from the beginning that the emails were fake, but she was Victor’s puppet, just like everyone else in town. After reiterating that she was nothing more than a Newman lackey, Phyllis triumphantly told Christine the whole town now knew it, and her first case was a big flop.
