At Crimson Lights, Phyllis told Cane she wanted an apology for accusing her of getting him arrested. She noted that not only was it not her fault, but she got him off the hook. Phyllis suggested he buy her a drink and thank her for saving him one more time.

Cane tried to blow her off, so Phyllis told him that Victor rewarded her with a company called Arabesque. “Does that ring any bells for you?” she asked. Phyllis tried to get Cane to admit it bothered him, but he wouldn’t give her the satisfaction of saying it out loud.

Phyllis told him that she was going to make Arabesque huge and build her legacy with it. She left while taunting him about it, and Cane looked like it bothered him more than he was letting on.

Phyllis returned to pick up her order, and Cane wondered if she’d heard from her kids since giving Newman back. She told him that Daniel wanted nothing to do with her, and neither was speaking to her, but she was sure that they would thaw. Cane said his kids were starting to show signs of coming around.

Phyllis told Cane that what he did for Malcolm was truly heroic. “I really mean that. You saved a good man’s life,” she added.

Victor Puts Matt to Work

At the ranch, Victor told Matt it was time to take the next step with Cane. Matt gave Victor an update about when he met him, noting it didn’t feel great to lie to Cane’s face. Victor reminded Matt it was what he signed up for and ordered him to get Cane on the hook and reel him in.

Matt chatted with Victor about his feelings about his situation. Victor told him that Nick would never accept his apology because some crimes were too big to apologize for. Matt said he was carrying low levels of regret and shame and could remember all the bad things he did but didn’t feel connected to them.

When Matt asked if Victor could relate to how he felt, Victor told him he always did what was best for his family. Sometimes he apologized, sometimes he just let things be.

Matt shared how lonely he was and said he had been his whole life. He was curious about what Victor’s endgame was for him. Victor assured Matt that he had no intention of using him as a fall guy, adding that as long as he did what he was told, he had nothing to worry about.

Nikki’s Condition Worries Victoria

At GCAC, Victoria had just arrived at Kyle’s table when Nikki returned from the Abbott mansion. Victoria couldn’t believe it when they told her about Patty moving in and Kyle moving out. Kyle moved to the bar and gave them his table.

As Nikki went to sit down, she lost her balance as her head pains worsened. Victoria got her mom up to her room, where she lay down with a compress on her forehead. She returned to the bar, talked to Kyle about Patty and Nikki, then went back up and told her mom that either she would go with her to the doctor in the morning or Nikki’d bring the doctor to her.

Victor came into the dining room and saw Kyle at the bar, asking the bartender to bill him to the room. Victor joked that there was another Abbott living there and wondered if Patty had driven him away. Kyle told Victor the only reason Patty was in town was because of him. He told him to mind his own family as he’d heard things weren’t going too well.

Adam Makes a Big Decision

Adam and Chelsea at Society

At Society, Adam told Chelsea that he did as Victor requested and introduced Matt to Cane. He couldn’t explain his father’s motives but guessed that Victor was still worried about Cane. It wasn’t enough to beat him; he wanted to bury him for being such a formidable challenge.

Adam didn’t trust Cane, but he hoped Victor knew what he was doing. He noted that now that Newman Enterprises was back in the family, everyone got what they wanted, but Newman Media no longer existed. Chelsea wondered whether they should fight it, but didn’t know where to start.

Adam and Chelsea bemoaned the loss of Newman Media and how no one seemed to care but them. Chelsea noted how everyone felt bad for Nikki, but there was no mention of sympathy for them. Adam regretted letting Chelsea give up everything at Marchetti to come work with him. He suggested she call Summer and see if there was a way to get it back, but Chelsea didn’t want to.

Adam admitted he was willing to walk away from the family business and build something new with Chelsea. After years of fighting to have a place, he said the only family he wanted to prove anything to was her and Connor.

Adam told Chelsea to get out their stationery because he was going to tell Victor that the two of them were rebuilding Newman Media, starting now.

Matt called Cane and reminded him how they’d met and talked about getting a drink and chatting. He asked if Cane had time to get together, and he agreed to meet him at Crimson Lights.

From the Crimson Lights patio, Phyllis saw Matt come in and join Cane at his table. She moved closer to the doorway so she could eavesdrop. Phyllis heard Matt lead with questions about being Dumas, but Cane interrupted. “Just stop what you’re doing, Matt. What does Victor Newman want?” Cane snapped.
