The Young and the Restless Recap June 12

At the Chancellor Park Cafe, Victoria ran into Sally, and they had an awkward conversation about her pregnancy and engagement. Sally asked Victoria to reach out to Billy and smooth things out now that the Newmans had their company back, as she’d been rough on him.
Victoria was taken aback to be described as rough on Billy and laid into Sally for getting Newman Media because of Billy’s willingness to go along with Phyllis’ plan. Not only did Victoria imply she should give it back, but she said that Sally and Billy benefited more than Phyllis and Cane did.
Sally noted that Adam didn’t mention it but wanted everyone to focus on the kids, including the new baby on the way. She didn’t want fighting and tension, as it would stress everyone out. Victoria mellowed and said no matter what, she always wanted the best for Billy and Sally.
Sharon and Phyllis Reflect on Their Shared Trauma

At Crimson Lights, Sharon was talking to Mariah on the phone. When she hung up, Sharon told Phylis that Mariah was doing so well that she was talking ot her medical team about a release. She noted that a judge would still need to approve it, but she was happy nonetheless. Phyllis told Sharon that she was happy for her.
Sharon and Phyllis talked about Daniel and Summer, and how they wanted things to be better for themselves and their kids. Phyllis shared that she thought Martin Laurent was their Ian Ward and that she and Sharon were still recovering.
Sharon agreed and admitted she still had nightmares about the experience; Phyllis said she did as well. Phyllis told Sharon they were bonded forever because of it. Sharon thought she was a better parent because of what they had gone through, and she was sure Phyllis would get Summer back into her life. Phyllis went out to the patio and texted Summer, letting her know she had given back the company. She said she hoped that Summer would talk to her about it, but wasn’t sure if Summer even still considered her her mom.
Sharon checked in on Phyllis and asked if she was okay. Phyllis told her she wasn’t, but believed she would get there.
Nikki’s Health Crisis Worsens

At the GCAC dining room, Nikki spotted Victor and marched over to ask why he would let Matt live at the ranch. Victor told her that who lived there was none of her business. Nikki pressed Victor to hand Matt over to the police, but Victor said the charges had been dropped. Nikki couldn’t understand why Victor would let him off the hook.
Victor said he didn’t control the Las Vegas police but was fine with shutting Nikki out. Nikki told Victor about the meeting she went to with Nick and how he was feeling.
Nikki said she’d heard about Victor giving Chancellor to Lily.
Victor wouldn’t give Nikki any answers, even when she figured out that he’d promised the company to Nikki before their fights and before what happened to Jack. Suddenly, Nikki had debilitating pain in her head. Victor wanted to know what was going on, but she didn’t believe his concern and said it was due to stress from everything he’d put her through.
Victor told Nikki to go take her medicine and call the doctor, but she told him he had no say in her life. Nikki did go upstairs, but her vision was blurry, and she could barely see as she walked.
Matt Puts Victor’s Plan Into Motion

At the ranch, Adam prepped Matt for his meeting with Cane, but Matt remembered meeting him at GCAC when he was arguing with Phyllis. He thought if Cane recognized him, the plan was over before it started.
Matt and Adam talked about how he had changed. He said he couldn’t explain it, but when Sienna hit him with that rock, somehow he got a conscience. He pointed out that he’d done his research and that Adam used to be someone completely different, but he had changed. Adam conceded that Matt did seem different.
Adam took Matt to the Chancellor Park Cafe, where they ran into Sally and Victoria, and he introduced Matt as a family friend whom he was showing around town. Sally welcomed him, then went back to work, but Victoria thought it was reckless of Adam to bring Matt out in public.
Adam explained that Matt would be their eyes and ears with Cane. “No violence,” Matt assured her. Adam said that it was Victor’s decision and security was never far away.
Matt Improvises During the Meeting With Cane

When Cane arrived, he didn’t see the point of the meeting since he had everything taken from him and they had everything back. He suspected the whole thing, especially since they had a stranger with them. Adam introduced Matt as a family friend.
Matt went off script and gushed that Cane was the brilliant Aristotle Dumas, who took a small seed fund and grew it into a billion-dollar empire. “But then he lost it all in one move,” Victoria scoffed. “We can’t all be born rich, am I right?” Matt laughed at Cane.
Matt told Cane he put him up there as an equal to Victor Newman. Victoria and Adam squawked, but Matt said before they got mad, he could admire to people at the same time.
Matt asked Cane some business questions and wondered if some of the things he’d read were true or just made up for the Newman Media hit piece they put out on him.
Eventually, they called the pointless meeting to an end, and Cane scoffed at the waste of his time. Matt told Cane he’d love to pick his brain over a drink some time, and he actually got a ‘maybe’ out of Cane. Once alone, Adam and Victoria told Matt his performance was ‘meh’ and called Victor to report that it had been done.
