The Young and the Restless Recap June 1: Victor’s Ultimatum Shocks Nikki, Matt Starts to Remember

TL;DR: In today’s Young and the Restless recap, Victor issues Nikki a non-negotiable ultimatum: end her friendship with Jack Abbott or their marriage is over. Meanwhile, Noah surprises everyone by recreating The Shadow Room, and Matt Clark’s memories start to return when he visits it. Billy and Sally share wedding bliss, and Billy asks Jack to be his best man, while Jack worries about Diane’s disappearance.

The Young and the Restless Recap June 1

At Society, Sally downloaded a wedding planning app for her and Billy to use. They shared their bliss as they talked about the dress and honeymoon. As they were kissing, Jack arrived for his meeting with Billy.

Jack shared his enthusiasm for their plans, despite his own marital status, and said he was secretly hoping the baby was a girl. He said he was a little down when he walked in, but all the talk about the wedding and the baby made him cheer up. 

After Sally left, Billy asked Jack if there had been any progress with Diane. He said Diane seemed to have left town or gone into hiding, and was even avoiding Kyle. Billy thought that could be alarming.

Jack admitted that he couldn’t shake the feeling that Patty had something to do with Diane’s disappearance. Billy shared how he’d run into Patty recently, and she said she would get rid of Diane if she got in the way of her getting back to Jack. He added that he’d told Diane that, but she dismissed it.

Jack said that Diane made it clear she wanted nothing to do with him, but he hired a private investigator to ease his mind that she was okay.

Later, Billy told Jack that he appreciated how Jack was always there for him and wanted him to do it again — as his best man. Jack was honored to be asked and happily accepted.

Noah Has An Idea

At the ranch, Nick returned to the living room, where Victoria, Nikki, and Sharon were waiting. He admitted that he didn’t touch Matt; Nick said that Matt was a monster, but when he looked at him, all he saw was a scared man who didn’t know who he was. Noah came in with an idea of how to jolt Matt’s memory. 

Noah brought Nick and Sharon to a nightclub that looked just like The Shadow Room. They were impressed that he’d worked on it so quickly and agreed it was eerily similar to the one in L.A. Noah said Sienna hadn’t seen it yet, but he was hoping it would help jog Matt’s memory.

Nick thought that if anything would do it, the lookalike nightclub was it. Sharon wondered whether there was any point in seeking justice or revenge against Matt if he had reformed. “He’s not reformed,” Nick insisted. He told them that once Matt got his memory, he’d come for them again and they needed to stop him before that happened.

Victor Lays Down His Terms For Reconciliation

Back at the ranch, Victoria and Nikki told Victor that Nick returned from seeing Matt, but that he’d left with Sharon and Noah. Nikki thanked Victor for notifying her when Nick was in the hospital. Victor dismissively said she was his mother. 

Victoria suggested she let them talk, but Victor received a message from his security team that Nick was back to see Matt. Victoria still encouraged her parents to talk, but she got frustrated by their resistance. She told them that it was tearing them all apart.

Alone, Victor and Nikki talked about Nick and his addiction. Nikki felt like she had failed him. She asked Victor if there was a way for them to get past their impasse. “You know that I love you, and I know that you love me. What we have is worth saving,” Nikki told him.  

“Give up your friendship with Jack Abbott. It’s either him or me,” Victor told Nikki before walking away. “Unbelievable,” Nikki said as she shook her head. She stood to leave and got another headache. Nikki stopped to get some water to take a pill, but was in pain.

Sally Waits For The Shoe To Drop

At the Chancellor Park Cafe, a worried Sally told Audra that her life was too perfect. “You’re scared, and you think you don’t deserve it, so your insecurities are kicking into high gear,” Audra said. Sally explained that Jack just told her she was living the dream, and she suddenly remembered the other shoe. “It’s going to drop, Audra, and I just need to be ready when it does,” she said.

Audra gave her a pep talk, knowing how Sally was and what she was thinking. Eventually, Sally said she knew she needed to get out of her head and into her heart. She showed Audra her wedding dress idea and wanted her opinion on it, the flowers, and other details.

Audra got Sally laughing and confident again, then noted that this was the fierce Sally she knew and loved. “Billy better know how lucky he is!” Audra enthused. 

Matt Clark Takes A Field Trip

In the gym, Matt Clark lay on the workbench and sobbed. When he sat up, he asked himself who he was, then began punching the bag hanging in the room. “Who am I?!” he yelled. Nick came in and told Matt they were going on a field trip to jog his memory, but warned that his security team was with him and not to try anything.

Meanwhile, Sienna came to the new Shadow Club and was blown away. She told Noah it was a little unnerving, but Noah said he’d hoped it would make her miss L.A. a little more. He said he also hoped it helped Matt remember who he was.

Noah said he recreated the bar to help his parents and Sienna move on from the past. Just then, Sharon came in and said that Nick had Matt and they were on their way.

Matt Starts To Remember

When Matt walked in, he looked around, unsure of what was happening. He seemed relieved when he saw Sienna and smiled. Sienna told Matt that he used to call himself Mitch, that they were together, and that they had run a nightclub just like the one they were in.

Sienna told Matt that he used the club as a front for his trafficking. “I did that? I’m sorry,” Matt said earnestly. Matt took a look around and got some flashbacks. He remembered Nick punching him at the bar, and Sharon seeing him in the alley. He also recalled Sienna confronting him at the bar.

“I think he’s remembering,” Noah said. Matt looked at Noah, then remembered confronting him about backstabbing their friendship by sleeping with his wife. Finally, he remembered Victor at the bar, telling him he would have been better off staying dead.
