The Young and the Restless Recap July 9

At GCAC, Cane and Lily were having breakfast and talking about Chancellor when Holden came in. He was going to get a bite to eat, but they insisted that he join them. “You’re my brother. I’m not going ot let you eat alone,” Lily smiled.
Cane and Lily asked how things were going, where Holden was living and working, and what his plans were moving forward. Holden said it was all up in the air since he lost his job when Damian went to Winters and work with Cane had been sporadic prior to Arabesque being dismantled.
Cane suggested that he and Lily might be able to help with that. He explained that Lily now owned Chancellor and had made him CEO. “If the boss approves, I’d like to offer you a job,” Cane told Holden. He told Holden it would be full-time so he could rent or buy a home.
Lily agreed she was put on the spot but loved the idea. “I’m only mad that Cane thought of it before I did,” she laughed. Holden told Lily that she probably wouldn’t have considered it if she hadn’t found out he was her brother. Lily eased his worries that it wasn’t a handout of some kind, and Holden accepted.
Claire Questions Holden’s New Job

Later, Holden met Claire at Society, and she updated him on her news: Victor had given her a division to run at Newman Enterprises, and her grandmother was back at the ranch. She wondered what Holden’s big news was.
Holden told Claire how Victor gave Chancellor to Lily and put Cane in charge. He happily announced that Cane offered him a job. “I wish I could be happy for you,” Claire said. She told him that taking a job with Cane could be a big mistake.
Claire warned Holden that Cane’s AI program made it possible for Phyllis to steal Newman, but Holden reminded her that Victor wasn’t innocent in all of it. Claire was taken aback. “Victor decimated Cane’s business for no other reason than because he could,” Holden told her. “That’s not entirely true,” Claire replied.
“Victor used the same AI program to destroy Arabesque,” Holden said. “If you were Cane, wouldn’t you be pissed too?” Claire said she did want to be supportive of him working with his sister, and offered to buy drinks. Holden said they must be getting in sync because they both thought to call the other first with their good news.
Lily Sees a Different Side of Cane

Back at GCAC, Lily told Cane that he fixed things with Holden. She said it made her feel unsettled that he knew what she needed and made it happen. She said he’d been very generous and helpful and done things she’d never be able to repay.
“I just feel like you’re so different,” Lily said. She pointed out that he even offered Holden a job when she was just worried about what he was going to do. “Even that was amazing,” she said. Cane told her what she was saying was music to his ears.
Patty Tries to Finish the Job

At the hospital, Patty told Jack that he had to die. Patty held the syringe up as she lectured about how he was going to have to pay for rejecting her. Just as she was about to inject his IV, the security guard came in and asked how Jack was doing.
Patty grimaced that Jack had cheated death — for now. The guard asked who would do something so awful. Patty rolled her eyes, let out a heavy sigh, and said she had to leave, turning so he never saw her face. In the hall, Patty complained that he didn’t even know Jack, so why did he care what happened to him.
Just then, Kyle and Diane came around the corner. Patty tried to dart down the hall, but Diane spotted her. She told Kyle that the nurse who had just come out of Jack’s room was Patty and ran after her. Kyle went into Jack’s room and told the guard to go look for Patty as well.
Kyle looked at Jack’s monitors and determined everything was normal, then went out to the hall to call Det. Burrow to come to the hospital.
Jill Asks Billy to Come to London

Jill came to see Billy at home; it was the first time she had seen it. She told Billy she wanted to work through things right then and there because she loved him too much not to fix it. “Let me stay, Billy,” she pleaded.
Billy told Jill not to be dramatic and reminded her that all they’d done since she got to town was talk. Jill said they hadn’t talked about the solution, just the problem. She said Billy had a new life, with a baby and fiancé, and so much happiness ahead. “All you need to do is get out of your own way,” she added.
Billy snapped that Jill couldn’t help but always point out his past mistakes and issues, and passive-aggressively imply he’ll make them again. Jill said that he was the problem because he either refused to accept his flaws or excused them by hiding behind his addiction.
Billy and Jill Confront the Past

“You’re bringing up my gambling now?” Billy asked. He said she was the one who hid behind it, using it as an excuse to cut him down. Jill told him that she offered him constructive criticism to help him.
Jill reminded Billy of some of the things he had done in his past with his gambling, long before he was running Chancellor, yet she was still holding them against him.
Billy clapped back that she’d made plenty of mistakes and was hardly the model mother. On that note, Jill stopped and sat down. She asked if they could wipe the slate clean, especially since she didn’t know how much time she had left.
Billy agreed it would be his biggest regret if they didn’t mend things before it was too late. Jill asked Billy to come ot London with her and they could work things out there, away from Genoa City and all the baggage it came with.
Jack Finally Wakes Up

Traci came to see Jack and sat with him. She told him how much Diane loved him, but everything was so messed up. Traci implored Jack to wake up and tell everyone what really happened. Jack didn’t wake up, so Traci stood up to leave, but suddenly, Jack moaned her name. “You’ve come back to us!” Traci cried happily.
Jack struggled to process and speak, but he was worried about Diane and Markham and said he had rejected Patty, who was angry. When Traci went to get the nurse, Jack remembered Patty stabbing him.
When Traci returned, he told her that Patty tried ot kill him. Traci reluctantly told Jack that Diane was being accused of it and he needed to tell everyone the truth and make it right.
Patty Attacks Diane Before Her Arrest

Patty ran down the hospital halls, looking for a place to hide or escape. Diane chased her into the stairwell, with Kyle on their heels. He was still on the phone with Burrow. “You need to get here ASAP! I think Patty’s going to kill my mother!” Kyle told him.
Patty tried the handles on every level’s doors, but they were locked. She reached ground level and sprinted again, Diane not far behind her. Diane caught up to Patty and slammed her against the wall. She pinned her with her arm and said she wasn’t getting away with it. Patty was screaming for help, but Diane told her no one was coming to save her.
As Kyle and the security guard turned the corner, Patty stabbed Diane in the neck with the syringe. Patty tried to escape, but Burrow arrived, and a cop arrested her as Kyle asked what he injected Diane with. “What she deserved!” Patty snapped.
Kyle scooped up Diane and walked away with her, grabbing the syringe and putting it in his pocket as he walked by Patty and the cops. He told his mom to hold on and stay with him.
