The Young and the Restless Recap July 7

Jill asked Sally to meet her at the Chancellor Park Cafe. She congratulated her on her pregnancy and marriage, and Sally apologized for telling Billy about her investment. Sally explained that after a rough spot, she and Billy agreed not to have any more secrets.
“So you didn’t have a choice,” Jill determined. She was surprised when Sally said, “No, I did. And I chose Billy and our relationship.” Sally explained that Billy was really moved and wanted to reach out, and to cover herself, she asked him not to. She apologized, but Jill said it was water under the bridge.
However, Jill wondered if Billy would be able to stick to his end of the deal not to keep secrets. Sally assured Jill that Billy was just as committed as she was. Jill noted that he wasn’t pleased that Cane would be running Chancellor.
Jill Explains Chancellor and Billy

Sally informed Jill that Cane offered Billy a position, Head of R&D. “Of course he would reach out, try to make things right,” Jill said. Sally told her it wasn’t a mercy hire. “Cane knows Billy’s talents, and he wants them to work together to heal their relationship,” she explained. Jill laughed that Billy was good, but he was never good at not being top dog.
Sally told Jill she’d seen a lot of growth and determination in Billy to live up to the influences of John and Jack. Jill credited Sally for her influence as well. She wished that Billy trusted her the same way, but Sally said it all went back to Chancellor.
Sally explained that Billy thought Jill was hiding the reason she didn’t want him at Chancellor. She asked if Jill had a secret. Jill insisted she trusted Billy as CEO, but he made bad decisions. “So you’re saying Billy would rather believe a conspiracy than accept he was bad at his job?” Sally asked. “Bingo,” Jill replied.
Sally told Jill about Jack being in the hospital, but she didn’t know why, as he got the call and ran out. Jill hoped it wasn’t anything serious.
Nikki Returns Home

Victoria came to the main house from the hospital and told him that she saw him outside of Nikki’s room the night before. She said that Nikki was doing well but worried if she’d get her sight back. She would be wearing bandages for a couple of weeks while she healed but was being released that day.
Victoria said she also had a favor to ask. She asked Victor to put aside his anger and let Nikki come home to recuperate. Victor said the staff had already prepared her room and that he’d stay in a guest room. Victoria suggested that he stay in her room with her to take care of her instead. Claire came in with the same idea, but Victoria told her it was already arranged.
Claire offered to go to the club, get Nikki’s things, and check her out of the hotel. Meanwhile, Victoria asked Victor again to stay in the same bed as Nikki, but he insisted on not. When Nick called Victoria, they left to go get Nikki, and Victor chose to stay home.
Later, Nick, Claire, and Victoria brought Nikki home and helped her walk into the living room. Nikki told them that with all the love she was getting from them, they would get through it together. When Victor came in, she thanked him for letting her come home.
Burrow Builds a Case Against Diane

At the police station, Diane pleaded with Burrow to let her go see Jack at the hospital, but he said he had questions. Diane told him she’d already answered them all, but he still wasn’t sure. Michael arrived as her attorney, and she told him the same thing: Patty stabbed Jack, had her held hostage at her supposed therapists, and was making false accusations. Michael told her that Jack had surgery.
Burrow said he’d spoken to the D.A. and they were considering two counts of attempted murder. Diane maintained her innocence as Burrow stared at her. He said he had more questions and opened a file, stating that Markham accused her and Kyle of drugging him.
Diane said Kyle had nothing ot do with it. She explained that he was holding her hostage, with every door and window barred. “Drugging him was the only way I could escape,” she said.
Patty and Markham Stick to Their Story

Burrow went to see Patty in another room. She immediately asked if Diane had confessed to trying to kill her. “And here I thought your first question would be to ask how Jack was doing,” he noted. He wanted to revisit her statement before letting her go. Patty waived her right to counsel and wanted to be forthright.
Patty insisted that Diane needed to be locked up for the rest of her life and offered to answer anything to make that happen. He wanted to know how she came to live at Jack’s, so Patty told him that they were in love. Burrow noted that she moved in after Diane’s disappearance, and Jack had contacted him, worried that Patty was behind it.
Patty revealed that Diane moved out because she’d walked in on her and Jack in bed. Burrow thought it was convenient that Dr. Markham was the one to “find” Diane after supposedly having a breakdown. He took the file and went to talk to him next.
In another room, Burrow told Markham that one of his patients stabbed Jack Abbott and asked him to guess which one. He said that Patty wasn’t a threat to herself or others, but Diane was.
Markham told the story of how he had Diane at his home, and that he’d caught on to an underlying rage that he feared would turn violent. He explained how she’d drugged him and then went to Jack and Patty’s home and let her anger consume her.
Michael Delivers More Bad News

Alone with Diane, Michael asked her whether she had done it. She couldn’t believe he even asked, but he said he needed to be sure. Michael told her that Markham was Patty’s witness, alleging he feared for Diane’s violent streak, and that Patty’s prints weren’t on the knife.
Diane couldn’t believe it when Michael said that Patty only had defensive wounds and none of Jack’s blood on her, whereas Diane did. He warned Diane that she might not make bail.
Jack Fights for His Life

At the hospital, Kyle sat with Jack post-surgery and told him that he needed him to wake up. He said that Diane was in trouble and needed him more than ever. He told Jack how excited Diane had been to come home, and he had to wake up and tell the police who did this to him.
Billy came in and hugged Kyle. When Billy asked about Diane, he told him that Patty slashed her own arms to make it look like Diane attacked her after Jack. “So she’s as insane as we thought she was,” Billy said.
Traci came in, saw Jack, and burst into tears. She cried about how much damage Patty had done to their family and said that Ashley was on her way from Paris. Traci blamed herself, as she knew better than anyone how dangerous Patty was, but Billy and Kyle felt the same guilt.
Kyle told them about Patty calling and Diane answering, and her fury set her off. Billy assured them that Jack would wake up, tell the police it was Patty and not Diane who stabbed him, and Patty would spend the rest of her life in a dark cell.
Diane Comes to the Hospital

Traci asked them to talk about things more positively to help Jack wake up. As she told a story about her and Jack as kids, Diane rushed in and hugged them. She said she’d been released on bail and came straight there. “They actually charged you?” Billy asked. Diane said they did, but all she cared about was Jack.
Diane sat next to Jack and asked why he hadn’t woken up yet. Diane begged Jack to come back to them. She professed her love for him in front of everyone and apologized for being apart for as long as they had.
Diane asked him to wake up so they could find forgiveness like they always have. “I’m here. I’ve come home to you, and I need you to find a way back,” she pleaded.
Patty and Markham Plot Their Next Move

Across the cafe, Patty met with Markham. She was furious that he let Diane get out, but he thought stabbing Jack wasn’t the best idea. He said her stabbing the man she loved wasn’t part of the plan, but she said it was too late. Knowing they were in big trouble once Jack woke up, Patty told Markham that Jack couldn’t stay alive.
