The Young and the Restless Recap July 30: Phyllis and Matt Steam Up, Devon Confesses To Lily
TL;DR: In today’s The Young and the Restless recap for Thursday, July 30th, 2026, Phyllis helps Matt break free from Victor’s control, Devon confides in Lily, Sienna struggles with her feelings for Matt, and Cane and Lily embrace a new beginning.
The Young and the Restless Recap July 30

Daniel saw Phyllis in GCAC and turned to leave, but she spotted him and called him over. She told him that Victor had forgiven her and couldn’t figure out why he couldn’t. Daniel was shocked by the story that Phyllis told him about how Nick almost overdosed, and she helped save him. Phyllis said that Victor was grateful and gave her Arabesque.
Daniel mocked that you save a life/get a business, but it wasn’t his style. Phyllis said that Victor also respected her and suggested he give it a try. Daniel wasn’t interested and didn’t want to be around her. He said he would go somewhere else.
As Daniel left, Matt came in and joined a crushed Phyllis at the bar. Matt cheered up Phyllis with his happy vibe. He told her that he was happy to be there with her, someone he had a connection with, and outside was the vigilante mob after him.
Phyllis Helps Free Matt

Phyllis was curious what took him so long to get there, and if he was thinking of skipping town. Matt pointed out that he was under Victor’s thumb, so he couldn’t go far yet, but there was nothing he’d like more than to rip off the ankle monitor and run screaming.
“What’s stopping you?” Phyllis asked. “You,” Matt said. He told her there was something between them and he wasn’t alone in feeling it. But first, he wanted to lose the ankle bracelet and the mall cops Victor had following him, and he had to find somewhere to live. Phyllis said she had many ideas about that.
Phyllis went to get some tools and met Matt in her room. She worked on his ankle bracelet until she got it off. Matt told her that he was going to take it to the ranch, pack his things, leave the bracelet there, and come back. Phyllis kissed him before he left.
Lily and Cane Look Ahead

Lily and Cane were cuddled up naked on the couch, basking in the afterglow, when Devon called. It was late, which was odd for Devon, so Lily took the call. Devon was distressed and said he needed to talk to her. He asked if he could come by, and Lily said he could.
After some canoodling, Lily told Cane that she was regretting that their night was over already. Cane said he hoped that, given what happened, it was a sign they would be having many more nights just like it. Lily agreed, so Cane told her that he could wait, but it sounded like Devon couldn’t.
Cane and Lily dressed, and he thanked her for the evening. He said it was the best night ever. As she walked him to the door, Cane asked what the company policy was about the CEO being crazy about the boss. “Don’t tell anyone,” Lily laughed. “Okay, good, because there’s no way anyone is going to believe that a boy like me could get a girl like you,” Cane smiled as they kissed some more.
Devon Struggles With His Feelings

At Society, Devon hung up the phone, finished his drink, and stood to leave, but Abby came out from the back and said her evening was over. She suggested she get the chef to make them a meal, but Devon said he was going to Lily’s to talk about some things he’s had on his mind.
Devon promised Abby that he wasn’t still carrying the guilt of not saving Dom. He told her that if he was struggling with anything, he would talk to her, and appreciated her mom offering to lend an ear as well. Abby suggested he didn’t want to open up to her.
Devon explained that he just needed some time. He swore he wasn’t unhappy in their marriage and it had nothing to do with him. Abby reminded him they were a team, but he didn’t want to hurt her. He just didn’t know how to talk to her about what was going on.
Devon said that part of why he was so angry had to do with Lily, and he hoped she would say something that would make it better. Abby cried that if he could find the words for Lily, he should find them for her.
Devon still wouldn’t talk, so Abby told him that she would be there for him when he was ready. She kissed him goodbye through tears, and he told her that he was going to be okay, then left.
Daniel Comforts Abby

After he walked away, Daniel walked up, saw Abby crying, and said she looked like she needed a friend. He said that he saw Devon run out.
Abby admitted that there was something going on, but she didn’t know what, and it was hard that Devon wouldn’t open up to her. Daniel asked if Devon was still mad about their differences of opinion about Mariah’s sentencing.
Daniel advised that all she could do was wait until Devon was ready and then be there. In the meantime, he suggested she get a quick distraction. He invited her to have dinner and then go to the Shadow Room, saying that a night on the town could be exactly what they both needed.
Sienna Confides in Noah

At the Shadow Room, Noah got Sienna to take a break. They sat in a booth, and she opened up about how she kept thinking about Matt since seeing him. She wondered how she could have fallen in love with Matt Clark, but thought there was still some genuine good in him.
Noah couldn’t believe it, and reminded her of how he tried to kill her. Sienna told Noah that she’d seen the other side of him. And now that Matt was claiming to have changed, she thought it was possible. She admitted she saw bits of the Matt she fell in love with and didn’t know what to do with that.
Noah was irritated and said that he was going to make sure that Matt left town, whether he liked it or not. Sienna said it would be easy to keep Matt in that box and hate on him, but seeing him humble and sweet brought back a lot of good memories that she’d forgotten.
Sienna made Noah fume when she said how Matt made her coffee every morning and massaged her feet every night. It was unnerving for her to see that side of him again.
Sienna didn’t know if her judgment was off then or now, and to even be questioning it was doing her brain in. Noah heard enough and was determined to run Matt out of town permanently… somehow.
Matt Makes a Decision

As Matt came to the lobby, he ran into Cane. He asked Matt what was really going on with him, and he said that he told him the truth about Victor wanting him to spy on Cane. “The only person I’m lying to is Victor,” Matt said.
Cane warned him not to play games with Victor. He asked what Matt was going to do if he didn’t work for Victor. Matt said that he was done trying to prove to the whole town that he’d changed, and thought it was time he took his life in a new direction. With that, Matt grinned and walked out.
Devon Opens Up to Lily

When Devon got to Lily’s, he could tell that someone had been there and guessed it was Cane. Lily said they had dinner and texted the twins, who seemed ready to let him back into their lives. Devon noted she did, too, adding that he said he knew Cane would do this after saving Malcolm; he would weasel his way into her life and into her bed.
Lily snapped at Devon that he could leave if that’s why he came over. Devon backed down and apologized.
Devon shared that he felt lost, and he was questioning everything in his life. Who he was, the money he inherited, and the kind of man it turned him into.
Phyllis and Matt Grow Closer

In her room, Phyllis started to worry. She called Matt, but he wasn’t answering. She was convinced that Victor did something to him. Just then, Matt returned. He told her a long story about how he had to park far away, hop a wall, talk to security so he was ‘seen,’ and then make it back without checking his phone.
Phyllis told Matt that next on his list of figuring out his life, to cross off finding work, as he could take her job offer. Phyllis said to let her take care of him.
Matt asked if she was going to let him return the favor. He began kissing her, and before long they were getting undressed and going to bed.
