The Young and the Restless Recap July 29

At the ranch, Victoria arrived, and Nikki surprised her by saying she could see her. She explained Victor had just woken her from a nightmare, and she suddenly got her sight back. Victoria was happy but didn’t want her to overdo it; she suggested that Nikki close her eyes for a bit.
Nikki wanted to celebrate the moment, but Victoria wanted to call Nikki’s doctor. While she stepped away to do so, Nikki told Victor how terrified she’d been, and he saved her by waking her up. She thought it meant something that the first thing she saw when she woke up was Victor.
When Victoria returned, she said that the doctor thought she was well on her way to a full recovery. Nikki wanted to call Nick, but Victoria tried to dissuade her. Nikki demanded to know why and what was going on with Nick. Victoria and Victor explained that Nick checked himself into rehab.
Nikki was upset that they kept it from her and blamed herself for not being there for him. She wished she could have prepared him for rehab, and swore to be there for him now that her crisis was over. After Victoria left, Nikki asked Victor about their future.
Adam and Billy Clash

At the GCAC, Adam was on the phone with Chelsea, reassuring her that despite Victor’s wrath, they did the right thing. When Billy came in, he confronted Adam about the deal. Adam stood behind what Sally said about him, and he did what he did to help her in an impossible situation.
Adam blamed Billy for it, saying he screwed up by putting a target on Sally in the first place by giving her Newman Media. “You screwed up, and I stepped in and saved her. Why don’t you just thank me?” Adam told him. Billy knew he was putting a spin on it.
Billy promised Adam wouldn’t have Newman Media for very long, but Adam told him the deal was done and there was nothing he could do. “We’ll see about that,” Billy replied.
Phyllis Trades Barbs With Adam

As Billy left, Phyllis took a seat at the bar and took Billy’s spot for sparring. Phyllis blew off Adam’s resentment and said that she was his equal, so get used to it. Adam blew back at her about how she was backed into a corner when she “handed over” his family’s company. Phyllis said he was just being a bitter loser because his dad had given him the shaft again.
Phyllis pointed out what she’d accomplished and that even Victor was impressed. She didn’t think Adam was content with all of his drive and ambition to keep waiting for his turn that was never going to come. Adam said Phyllis had no family anymore and she was with a former sociopath for her companion.
Adam scoffed that he heard Matt was leaving town. “Even he wants to get away from you as far away as possible,” he said. He warned her not to come after them again or they would crush her. “You got off easy this time. Next time you’re not going to be so lucky,” Adam added before leaving. Once alone, Phyllis called Matt and asked him to join her for a drink and to let her know if she convinced him to stay in town.
Sally Tells Billy the Truth

When Billy got home, things were tense with Sally. He told her that he’d gone to Adam and asked why he bullied Sally into giving Newman Media back. When Billy wasn’t going to let it go and had too many questions, Sally admitted that Adam paid her for it but part of the agreement was to keep it a secret.
Sally explained that Adam wanted to look like he pulled off a coup so that Victor wouldn’t come after her anyway. “So you colluded with Adam, lied to me, and that’s why he looked so happy, and I looked like an idiot,” Billy said. Sally asked if he was going to tell Victor.
Billy wished that Sally would have talked to him about it at any point, but she had excuses for why she didn’t. She told him she was sorry she hadn’t said anything, but stood by her reason: he always acted like everyone was after him, and when she did tell him, he took it as a personal affront.
Sally told Billy that she knew he would always have conflict with the Newmans, and he apologized for blowing up and seeming like he couldn’t be talked to. They agreed to put it behind them and set up the glider chair they’d bought for when they had the baby.
Lily and Cane Reunite

Lily invited Cane over for dinner and brought a bottle of wine. He teased her about making dinner, and they bantered about the fact that she had even invited him. Neither could quit smiling, and later, Cane took a selfie of the two of them to send to the kids. Matty and Charlie responded positively, further heightening the mood.
After dinner, they had wine on the couch and talked. Cane got serious and wondered if he deserved Lily after everything he’d put her through. Lily matched his mood and got real about her feelings, and how in Nice, she was angry at herself for feeling a sense of thrill when she realized he was Dumas and everything he’d done to impress her.
Cane told Lily that he loved her more every day, every moment they were together. He wondered if she could ever feel like that for him again. Lily leaned over and kissed him. When they paused, Lily asked if Cane remembered what he said to her on New Year’s Eve. “I said, ‘Please let me love you,’” Cane recalled, then Lily and Cane made love in the living room.
