The Young and the Restless Recap July 16: Sally and Audra Deal With Victor as Nick Pleads for Another Chance

The Young and the Restless Recap July 16

Nick went to see Victor at the main house and told him he agreed with Adam and Chelsea wanting to rebuild Newman Media rather than attack Sally. Victor wanted justice and said it was easier to take it back than to build. He felt Sally deserved it for aligning herself with Billy Boy Abbott, who gave her a company that was not his to give.

Victor grumbled about Chelsea having too much influence over Adam. Nick gave his reasons for thinking Adam was right, but Victor didn’t want to hear it.

Victor asked how Nick was doing. Nick said he was getting stronger, and that he went to meetings every day. He told Victor he felt powerless over his career, and although Victor felt it was right to hand the reins over to Victoria, Nick thought it was a mistake.

Nikki Gets Ignored

“Sidelining me is actually the worst thing you can do,” Nick told Victor. He explained that the more free time he had, the more time there was to use again. “If I have this job that I love, it will give me the foundation to get stronger,” Nick insisted. Victor told him again that he’d lived longer than him and knew better. “I don’t want you to be overwhelmed one day, and then you look for another escape,” Victor added.

With determination, Nick told his father that his work was his escape. “I need structure; I need routine; I need to feel the demands of this very demanding job that I love. I need to feel relevant again, and I promise you, Dad, this job will help save me. It won’t hurt me,” Nick implored.

Behind them, Nikki walked in and agreed with Nick. She said they needed to do whatever they could to support him to get well. Nikki and Nick talked about sobriety, and then she asked to speak to Victor alone.

Victor said that he had calls to make and left the room. Once alone, Nikki explained Victor’s frostiness, saying seeing Jack upset him. Nikki didn’t think the day would ever come that Victor wouldn’t hate her friendship with Jack.

Sally and Audra Prepare to Face Victor

At Society, Sally told Audra about her conversation with Adam and Chelsea, and that Victor was coming after them. Audra was determined that they didn’t go down without a fight. Sally shared that Adam insisted he was going to fight Victor, but Audra had no faith he would turn on his father.

Sally said despite all he’s done, she believed he’d changed. Audra thought Sally’s hormones were playing her or she was just determined to put her faith in Adam saving the day. “What’s that going to get us?” Audra asked. She didn’t think Adam and Chelsea would have any effect on Victor.

Sally agreed, saying that no matter what anyone’s intentions were, Victor would get what he wanted. “Then maybe we go on the attack,” Audra said. Sally decided the best thing to do was see Victor in person; Audra insisted on going with her.

Claire and Victoria Remember Cole

At home, Victoria told Claire about Patty’s attack on Jack and Diane. Claire wanted to call Kyle, but Victoria said she saw him and he was fine. Still, Claire noted that a year ago, Kyle was there for her when Cole died, and she wished she could have reciprocated when he almost lost his parents.

Victoria suggested that they curl up on the couch as planned, eat food, and celebrate Cole on the anniversary of his passing. They shared memories, talked about what Cole would have thought about the Newman takeover, and whether he’d approve of Holden.

Claire wondered if Victoria ever thought about moving on with someone else. Victoria said she hadn’t really given it any thought. Claire asked about Nate, but Victoria said they were just friends, and romance was in the past.

Claire took that as Victoria being open to something fun. Victoria agreed that the last thing she needed with everything going on was a serious relationship.

Sally Makes Victor an Offer

When Sally and Audra got to the ranch, Nikki explained about her bandages. Nick thought it was bold of them to come to the lion’s den, but Sally said they had a strong case and he agreed. Nick took Nikki for a walk to the stables just before Victor returned to the living room.

Victor told Sally and Audra it was a good thing they came to fight today because tomorrow at this time, their company will no longer exist. Victor said he was taking back what was stolen by Phyllis, given to Billy Boy, who gave it to Sally. “What is not clear about that? I will see to it that justice will be done,” Victor told her. Audra tried to speak, but Victor talked over her.

Sally told Victor they weren’t there to argue; they came to make a deal. Sally prefaced her proposition by telling Victor that Billy had nothing to do with Spectra-Charles, so coming after it would not be an attack on him. She also said that they couldn’t fight off an attack by Victor.

Audra told him that they weren’t surrendering and he’d have to give them something in return. Victor told them to get out. Sally asked him to at least hear their suggestion.

Sally said that the integration of Newman Media into Spectra-Charles is still in the early stages and they could undo what had been done. They offered to sell back what constituted Newman Media back to him. “Well, that sounds like a reasonable solution. Except there are two points: 1) Why would I be reasonable? And 2 ) Why should I pay for something that’s already mine?” Victor asked.

Victor Wants The Fight

Sally acknowledged Victor was ready to go scorched earth and that didn’t jibe with being reasonable, but reminded him that his beef was not with her and Audra. They pointed out that they’d grown the company and respected it, so there was no need to attack them when they were offering a clean solution.

Sally told Victor that he could come at them with everything and maybe he’d win by taking them down, but what about the cost? “You don’t know me very well. I love the fight, so bring it on!” Victor snarked. “Okay, but is the victory really worth everything you stand to lose?” Sally asked.

Victor warned that they would be in one hell of a fight. Sally told him that Adam and Chelsea weren’t into it, but Victor didn’t care. Sally added that Nick was also not into the fight. “You’d be fighting this battle alone,” Sally told him.

Sally said that he’d be alienating his family after the chaos they just had. She thought he should consider their offer because it would come with no risk and be a win all around. Victor just snickered.
