The Young and the Restless Recap August 6

At Crimson Lights, Adam lamented to Chelsea how he was on the outside yet again. He said that Victor would return from Venice and pay the price. Chelsea told him that she wasn’t going after Sally, if that’s what he had in mind.
Adam’s focus was on Billy. He said that he was the one who helped Phyllis get Newman Media, and he was the one who gave it to Sally. Then, he told Victor about Adam’s secret purchase of the company. He swore revenge on Billy.
Adam’s plan was to use Newman Media to point out what losers Cane and Billy were, and public opinion would force Lily to cut them loose. To Adam, he was helping save Chancellor by getting rid of the two people who would bring it down before they could do damage.
Chelsea pointed out how successful Cane had been in business. Adam retorted that was until he trusted Phyllis, and now he was trusting Billy. Chelsea thought if Billy was really going to bring himself down, he’d do it organically, without their involvement. She wondered if Adam was obsessing about making Billy look bad to impress Victor.
Chelsea reminded Adam that he didn’t want Victor to use Newman Media to go after Billy, and said she didn’t want that for them, either. She noted that they just got the company back and were already on the ugly side. “I’m not going to do it,” Chelsea told him.
Billy digs deeper into Chancellor’s past

At Billy’s, Cane came over and saw all the files he had out. He told him it was the older Chancellor history files that hadn’t been digitized yet and that he wanted them to go through them to find Jill’s secret.
Cane got agitated that Billy was chasing the answer to a question that no one asked. He insisted that Billy was just jealous that Cane was running Chancellor. When Billy kept arguing his point, Cane told him that Jill called him after her fight with Billy. He wished he could just make up with his mom.
Billy reminded Cane that Jill didn’t have faith in him, but Cane barked that he did. He didn’t know why that wasn’t enough to put it all aside and just do great things together. Billy said they would, and this secret was how they’d do it. He shared that he’d already found the first clue.
Billy explained that there was a time before Katherine gave the company to Philip when it had a big cash flow and wondered where the money came from, and what the investor got in return.
Cane argued that it was decades ago and he shouldn’t care about it. He angrily threw out a bunch of objections that Billy countered. He asked what if whatever the secret was, it was something detrimental to Chancellor. When Billy still wanted to know, Cane barked at him to either let it go, or he’d rethink having him at Chancellor at all.
Claire and Holden grow closer

At the Chancellor Park Cafe, Claire and Holden had coffee, and she caught him up on everything that had changed: Nikki got her eyesight back, and her grandparents not only reunited but reconfirmed their vows.
Holden noted that Claire was a romantic and said he was as well. Claire thought he was a player and didn’t realize he had more in common than she thought. Holden explained that he watched his mom lose Jerry and not be interested in love anymore, and he just picked up some of that himself.
Claire admitted that she still wanted marriage one day after Kyle; Holden admitted he wanted to be committed that way too one day, although he’d just always dated. Claire and Holden went back to Holden’s suite at the GCAC. She told him it wasn’t as homey as the tack house, with her family happy to see her when she got home, but at the same time, she wished she had her own place so that she could do what she wanted.
Holden and Claire ended up in bed. Afterward, Cane stopped by, but Holden, clearly not alone, told him he’d meet him downstairs. Later at the bar, Cane told Holden to low-key watch Billy. He shared that he was looking into Chancellor’s history and wanted him to keep an eye on him.
Holden was taken aback that his job was to be a spy. He pointed out that Cane was the boss and if he couldn’t trust Billy, then he should let him go.
Danny takes over The Shadow Room

Danny surprised Christine by having the keys to The Shadow Room and letting them in. He then shocked her by saying he was the new manager. Christine was mostly surprised that it was the first time she had heard of it.
Danny explained that he would still perform, and he and Noah talked about having some creative liberties. But he wanted to be with his family, and reminded her of the days when he would sing at Gina’s.
Daniel came in and asked why he was invited there first thing in the morning. Danny told Daniel that he was staying in town and working at the club. Danny asked where Daniel was with his music, and he admitted he wasn’t doing anything with it as it wasn’t the same without Tessa. Danny asked Daniel to come work with him at The Shadow Room.
Chelsea and Sally try to keep the peace

Adam went to Society and ran into Sally. He apologized for his anger the day before, but Sally knew he was upset at Billy, not her. She asked if he was going to go after Billy for revenge. Sally told Adam that she appreciated the deal he’d made with her but asked that he leave Billy alone and give him the chance to get his career back. “It would mean a lot to me,” she said.
Meanwhile, Chelsea stopped by Billy’s house to warn him that Adam was coming after him. Billy didn’t care, as it rarely worked in the past. And, he figured the more time he spent focused on Billy, the less energy he had to put into Newman Media, which ultimately meant he was biting himself in the butt.
Chelsea said she looked at it from every angle and was sick of it. Billy appreciated her warning, but she didn’t come for a thank you. She told Billy that he and Adam were so lucky, yet it wasn’t enough for them, and compared their rivalry to Jack and Victor.
Billy told Chelsea that he had no intentions of telling Victor, but he goaded him into it. Sally downplayed Victor’s role and scolded Billy for falling for his tactics. But Billy pointed out that Victor believed that Adam bullied Sally into giving Newman Media back for free. He said he wanted to be clear that he did not.
Billy noted that Chelsea was contradicting herself. On one hand, she wanted him to be seen as a bully, and on the other hand claimed he was a family man. He asked which one was true, and suggested she leave him once and for all.
