The Young and the Restless Recap August 27: Kyle and Victoria Get Intimate as Phyllis Searches for Missing Matt

TL;DR: In The Young and the Restless recap for Thursday, August 27th, 2026, Victoria and Kyle give in to their chemistry and sleep together, then agree it was a one-time mistake that must stay secret. Meanwhile, Phyllis panics when Matt disappears, while Adam warns her that the man she trusts has a dangerous past. Billy makes an impassioned case to Lily for control of Chancellor. 

The Young and the Restless Recap August 27

In Jack’s office at Jabot, Victoria and Kyle continued their banter and innuendo, each challenging the other on how they’d win the marketing competition they were planning. At one point, Victoria shook her head at Kyle’s overconfidence and told him she couldn’t wait to knock the swagger out of him. 

Kyle loved the way she talked to him and kissed her. They began making out and undressing one another… then Kyle told her to wait while he locked the door and shut the blinds in the window. 

After they had sex, Victoria and Kyle lay on the couch together and caught their breath. They said it must’ve been the celebratory whiskey and agreed it was a one-time thing. 

They got dressed, and Kyle asked about their next meeting. Victoria said she would check her calendar. Before she left, Kyle went for another kiss. After, Victoria told him that they couldn’t tell anyone what happened.

Phyllis Looks For Matt

At the GCAC, Adam and Cane met at the bar to compare notes about Billy, but neither had an update. Phyllis interrupted in a panic, looking for Matt. She said he didn’t show up for his first day at work and she couldn’t reach him. Phyllis accused Adam and his family of doing something to him.

Adam insisted they wouldn’t waste the energy, and Cane added that he hadn’t seen Matt in days. He revealed that the last time he said Matt, he told him he was staying in town for Phyllis. Neither Adam nor Cane could figure out why she was so invested in Matt. 

Adam suggested she go to the cops and file a missing persons report, claiming they would laugh once they realized who she was talking about. Adam called Matt a drug dealer, rapist, and an attempted murderer. Phyllis argued that Matt was none of those things anymore.

Adam mocked that Matt’s bump on the head changed everything, but Cane said it might have. However, he reminded Phyllis that Matt spent his life being a con artist and a liar, and that was a hard act to break. Adam reminded her that she’d knocked Matt over the head and was going to hand him over to Victor, and that he probably didn’t forgive and forget that as easily as she wanted to believe.

Adam and Cane Give Relationship Advice

Phyllis snapped at them that Matt’s commitment to her was real and she wasn’t going to listen to a lecture on loyalty from the two of them. Cane relented that he didn’t know the new Matt, but he kinda liked the new one. Adam complained that everyone liked NuMatt, so Cane asked if there was anything Adam wished he could take back. He said they both had things they regretted, but the only difference was they’d had time to atone for them.

Phyllis insisted that something happened to Matt and sat at a table alone. Adam couldn’t believe that Cane really liked Matt, but he said he did. They both looked at Phyllis as Adam said if he didn’t know better, he’d think she was really falling for him.

Cane recognized Phyllis’ loneliness, but Adam was more concerned with getting the conversation back to Billy. Adam was derogatory as he slammed Cane for not being able to bring down Billy on his own.

Adam said that Cane was destined to work for Billy as if it was a handout and all he could get. Cane reminded Adam that he was sitting in his hotel and owned plenty of profitable places around town. Just then, Lily called and asked him to come over to talk.

Adam Warns Phyllis

After Cane left, Adam went over to Phyllis. She asked about Nick, and they talked about how addiction to pills could happen to anyone. Adam told her Matt scared the hell out of him in Vegas, and not many people could do that. He wanted Phyllis to explain what she saw in him.

Adam sat down and said if Matt was a replacement for the people she used to have as friends, but nothing she had done was in the category of what Matt had done. She argued that the monster he was is not the Matt that she knew.

Phyllis insisted that she’d heard the stories but the Matt that she knew was working so hard to make amends to every single person, and despite her thinking sometimes that no one cared enough to listen, he was determined to make it happen. She said she believed in Matt and pointed out that Adam had done so many horrific things as well. Phyllis thought Adam would have compassion for someone for Matt, but Adam said he felt nothing for him.

Adam said he hoped Phyllis wasn’t let down, or worse. He thought part of her got with Matt just to stick it to Victor but she denied it. She said that wasn’t the case and tha tshe and Victor 

Billy Pleads His Case To Lily

At Lily’s, Billy told her that the “deal” she was offering was ridiculous, since she would be the deciding person. He told her she was holding onto Chancellor to get back to Cane. He said the facts were on his side.

Lily told Billy that if he didn’t want to play along, they would just go to court for years. She said that everyone wanted Chancellor because it was their last connection to Katherine, so that wasn’t a good enough reason. She told him to prove to him that he was worthy of running for Chancellor, and she’d give it to him.

Lily wanted to know what Billy’s business plans would be for Chancellor, but he said she’d just run it back to Cane. “That’s fair,” she said. Billy said that Cane had his shot at it, but he was never going to take Chancellor to the stars like Billy would.

Billy adamantly told Lily that he had spent his life with all of them, even Lily, undermining him and underestimating him. He said that most of the time, they pulled the rug out from under him, then told him they knew he wouldn’t succeed — including Jill. 

Lily Tells Cane About Chancellor

Lily listened as Billy told her that there was one thing no one considered: that all the mistakes everyone reminded him he had made, he had learned from them.

Billy said that this was life-changing for him. “This is life-affirming. Are you going to stand in the way of that?” he asked. Lily asked him to let her think about it overnight, and they could meet in the morning for her answer. She thanked him for the pitch before he left. “Thanks for listening,” Billy said.

When Cane got there, Lily told him about her conversation with Billy. Cane asked if Billy was convincing, and if so, if she would really go through with giving him Chancellor.

Kyle and Victoria Return To Real Life

Victoria came to the ranch house, and Nikki asked why she was getting in so late. She mentioned during their conversation that Jack and Diane were out of town, and Nikki asked how she knew.

Meanwhile, Kyle got a message from Jack, who said they’d landed in Tahiti. He told Kyle to take care of Jabot and not to get in trouble. Later, he went to Society in a very good mood and ran into Billy. He offered to buy him a drink, so Billy wondered if it was business or pleasure that put the smile on his face. Kyle said it was both.
