The Young and the Restless Recap August 24: Jack and Victor Clash Over Nick, Holden Picks A Side

TL;DR: In today’s The Young and the Restless recap for Monday, August 24th, 2026, Marie enters rehab, Nick opens up to Nikki, Jack offers to sponsor Nick but asks for Victor’s blessing, and Holden chooses Lily and the Winters family over Billy’s job offer.

The Young and the Restless Recap August 24

At the rehab facility, Marie joined Nick trying to do a puzzle, found the piece he was looking for, and placed. “How’d I miss that?” he mused. “Sometimes it just takes a fresh set of eyes for everything to fall into place,” she said.

Nick was surprised to see Marie there, since he thought she’d only come for a meeting. She told him that she was having trouble staying clean and thought it was time she got real help. Marie said she was supposed to meet her husband, but she was getting her stomach pumped after taking more pills. 

When her husband showed up at the hospital, he didn’t understand her situation and said things like “why didn’t you show” and “how could you be so weak.” She said that she almost swallowed the whole bag, but remembered something Nick said at the meeting she was at, about how you’re not the hero, but you’re also not a waste. 

Marie Enters Rehab

Nick told her that something he said steered her toward getting help, and it made him feel pretty good. Marie joined Nick in doing the puzzle, and they bantered about who was better at it. Nick asked if Marie’s husband knew she was in rehab. She said what she did didn’t seem to matter, and added that she’d also lost her job since the last relapse.

Marie apologized to Nick for leaving fentanyl in his hotel room. He said that everything that happened led to them being there, and joked that it also gave him the chance to play the hero. They admitted that they’d thought about each other since that night.

As for being in rehab now, Marie recalled that Nick said he was determined to stay clean for himself and his family. She said she’d been there before, but at least this time, she had a friend. “You absolutely do,” Nick replied.

Nikki Asks For Jack’s Help

Nikki came to see Jack at Jabot because he said he wanted to talk to her privately. Jack was concerned that Victor’s hatred of him would affect her marriage again and suggested she steer clear of him. Nikki assured Jack that she put her foot down about their friendship with Victor, and he promised that his love for her was greater than his animosity for Jack.

Jack told Nikki that he wasn’t ending their friendship; he was just giving her space to get her marriage on track, but she didn’t want it. Nikki told Jack she needed his help with Nick. Jack was surprised that Nikki hadn’t been able to visit Nick yet, but she wanted him to work the program as he needed it. 

Nikki asked Jack to be there for Nick as well, and he promised he would, whether as a friend or a sponsor. Just then, Nick called Nikki and told her that he’d like to see her, so she said she would be right there.

Holden Asks For Stephanie’s Advice

At Crimson Lights, Holden saw his mom and told Stephanie he’d like to talk if she had the time. Stephanie said she’d make the time, and they sat down. Holden told her that Billy had offered him a chance to climb the corporate ladder at Chancellor, but he was stuck in a battle between the Winters and the Abbotts.  

Holden explained his conversation with Billy and how he wanted to give him a chance to run his own company one day. Stephanie asked if he’d really not take his sister’s side in it or be mentored by Cane instead. Holden told her he’d worked for Cane since he was Aristotle Dumas, but nothing ever had any future or clarity to it.

Holden said he didn’t want to let Lily down or risk the trust they’d built. That said, Devon and Nate were struggling to accept him as he’d pretended to be Damian per Cane’s orders when he first came to town. Stephanie thought it would take time to trust him, but Holden didn’t think it would happen. He wondered if he took the Winters’ side, he’d be helping the family that never intended to accept him in the first place.

Stephanie advised Holden to talk to Lily about the dilemma and thought that she and Cane were good people. She didn’t think Lily could fault him for wanting to protect himself and his future, and that she understood their connection was new. Holden said he wanted to be a good brother but worried that doing so could cost him his dream job. He also wondered how much loyalty he was supposed to give to a sister he never knew he had.

Nate Questions Lily’s Motives

At home, Lily told Nate that Devon suggested she let Billy have Chancellor. When she said she was digging in her heels, Nate asked why it mattered so much to her. He pointed out that she’d be busy enough running Winters with him and Devon stepping away. “I have to ask: Is this about hanging onto Chancellor? Or is it about making sure that Cane doesn’t lose it?” Nate wondered.

Lily said Nate was bashing Cane, just like Devon. Lily tried to downplay her relationship with Cane and didn’t think it was relevant that they were back together. Nate warned her that Billy could fight dirty, but Lily was confident that her pitch to Jack would take the thunder out of Billy’s attack.

Holden dropped by, and Nate made his exit. Lily asked if Holden was there to tell her that he was ready to join her in her fight against Billy. Holden came in and said that Billy offered him a great position at the company. Lily scoffed that Billy was just offering the world but didn’t follow through.

Holden said that Cane had been a challenge to work for, but he didn’t know Billy. Lily said that Billy would crash and burn and take him down with him. Holden said it was a big decision but would hate to go against her. “Sounds like you already are, Holden,” Lily said in a tone. She told him to pick a side.

Holden told her it was a big decision. “Yeah. It is. Are you going to look out for your family? Or yourself?” Lily snapped. 

Holden Picks A Side

Holden told her that Billy said the same thing, for him to pick a side. He pointed out that Billy claimed Chancellor was his and he had all the documentation to back it up. Lily said it would never happen. She said that although Billy had a case, Katherine was Devon’s grandmother, and so she was part of our family. And since nothing was more important than family, she was going to fight for the company. 

“So are you going to be part of that or not?” Lily asked. Holden said that it felt good to hear her say “our family.” “How good?” Lily asked, still irritated. Holden said he had her back and to count him in.

Meanwhile, Nate went to the GCAC to have lunch with Stephanie. He told her that he’d booked his hand surgery and if all went well, he could take her up on her offer to work at the hospital on her surgical team. He said nowhere else would feel like home.

Nick Asks Nikki To Visit

At the rehab facility, Nick met with Nikki. She empathized with how he was feeling and how hard it was to go through recovery. Nikki encouraged Nick to stay as long as he needed and not to leave before he felt 100% solid. Nick said that Sharon was there earlier, and she reminded him how much he missed everyone.

Nick said that when it came to visits, he didn’t think he had the guts to look his family in the eyes. Nikki told him that the people who loved him understood. Nick said he had done nothing but lie and let them down, and he didn’t know what to do with that. 

Nikki told Nick that she totally understood the guilt and shame that he was feeling, as she had been in his position. But she also knew how it felt to be on the other side, and the one saying it wasn’t an issue. She said he could trust his family’s love and draw strength from it.

Jack Tells Victor He Wants To Help Nick

Jack went to the ranch, but before he could speak, Victor told him he was aware of everything, and there was no way Billy Boy or the Abbotts would ever own Chancellor. Jack dismissed his rant and said he was there about something much more important: Nick.

Jack said Nick was in the fight of his life, and that Nikki had asked him to be his sponsor when he got out of rehab. Victor thought it was a terrible idea. “It was your weakness, Jack Abbott, that nearly killed her. Your night of debauchery in the Athletic Club. I shall never forget, nor ever forgive,” Victor barked.

Jack suggested that Victor focus on the fact that that night was the last time Nikki touched a drink. Victor said he wouldn’t be lectured by Jack or the likes of him. “I’m not here to lecture anyone; I am here to help,” Jack said.

“I am an addict. I have the same proclivity for pills that Nicholas has. I understand what he is suffering on a cellular level, and I want to help him in any way I can if he needs my help,” Jack explained. “Warms the cockles of my heart. Kindly see yourself out,” Victor said curtly. Before leaving, Jack asked Victor to set aside his hatred just long enough to see the value in it.
