TL;DR: In today’s The Young and the Restless recap for Tuesday, August 18th, 2026, Victoria caught up with Kyle, Billy pressures Holden to choose a side in the Chancellor fight, Danny announces he bought half of The Shadow Room, and Cane warns Jack he will fight to protect Lily and Chancellor at any cost.
The Young and the Restless Recap August 18

At Jabot, Cane was appreciative that Traci and Ashley left him to talk to Jack alone. Jack noted that Billy had a very strong point of view, but his sisters went to wrangle him into talking about it and bring him in.
Cane and Jack discussed the merits of the deal Billy discovered and whether it would hold up in court. Cane told Jack he `needed to rein Billy in, and warned that he would do whatever he had to do to protect Lily in all of this.
Cane argued that if Katherine and Jill didn’t honor the deal, then they didn’t need to, either. Jack said that they had a case and wanted to look into it. Cane warned that if Billy didn’t back off, he would put all his efforts into stopping him. “I’ll make it ugly,” he added.
Jack thought it sounded like a threat, and clarified that Cane was making it personal because of his feelings for Lily. Cane also worried about Jill and didn’t want to be the one to tell her what was going on. Jack said he wanted to protect his father’s legacy as well; Cane said he would drag him down if needed. “How about you don’t fight at all?” Billy asked as he walked in the door.
Cane snickered when Billy said that their father was a man of principle and he signed a document in good faith. He interrupted to fight for Lily, and noted that Billy used to care about her, but she was the one being cheated.
Billy Doesn’t Back Down

Billy told Cane that they stick to facts, not emotions. He offered to throw Cane a bone if he helped with the transfer of power. Billy reciprocated Cane’s offer for a job to lead Research and Development, noting that if it was good enough for Billy, it should be good enough for Cane.
Billy found it almost humorous how Cane talked about Lily, and pointed out that she didn’t earn the company; Victor gave it to her. “Jill put Lily in charge!” Cane argued. “Alongside me,” Billy countered. Cane told Billy that his place was at Jabot and to stop with the god complex.
Billy said that he wanted Chancellor, so Jack asked why. Billy sadly told Jack that he could never be on his side when it mattered. “Tell Lily I’ll be in touch,” Billy told Cane before walking back out.
Cane thanked Jack for trying with Billy. Jack told him that he couldn’t control what his brother did and wasn’t going to get in the middle of it. “Unless my father’s reputation was tarnished in the process,” he added. Cane said he would do what he could to prevent that, but again said Billy needed to be reined in. Jack noted that Ashley and Traci convinced him to stay out of it. “So that’s that,” Cane surmised. Jack said Cane and Lily would do what they needed to. “Stay away from my family and my father’s reputation, or you will deal with me,” Jack warned.
Kyle and Victoria Catch Up

Victoria ran into Kyle at Crimson Lights, and he asked about Nick. Victoria said he was in rehab but hadn’t heard from him yet. Kyle offered for them to sit down and talk. Victoria shared that Nick relapsed after leaving the facility for her parents’ vow renewal.
Victoria missed Nick and wished everything was back to what it was. Kyle lent a sympathetic ear and encouraged her that she and her family would get through it. Victoria told him that he was a good friend, for an Abbott.
Holden and Claire came in and looked curiously at the two of them together. Holden went to buy coffees while Claire caught up with her mom and Kyle.
After they got their own table, Kyle asked Victoria if she liked Claire dating Holden. Victoria thought he made Claire happy, and she was willing to see where they went naturally. Kyle reiterated that he had moved on.
Holden’s Hopes For His Future

Meanwhile, Holden and Claire sat at their own table. Holden told her about Lily declaring war on Billy, and asked him to be on her side. He said he owed her and Cane, but he didn’t know what he was signing up for, either. Holden worried that Billy could be right and claim ownership of Chancellor, and didn’t know where that would leave him.
Holden wondered if it was too much to ask for a boss that wasn’t living under a pseudonym or asking him to spy. He just wanted a job without the drama. Claire advised that it was Holden’s prerogative to say he didn’t want any part of it, and noted that he didn’t have any details or know what was going to happen. Just then, Billy walked in and went to the counter. Victoria saw him texting and insisted that something was wrong. Billy told her everything was fine, but when he saw Holden and Claire on the patio, he excused himself to join them. Victoria told Kyle she had a bad feeling. “Billy’s always worked up about something,” Kyle shrugged, but Victoria sensed this was different and that something was wrong.
Billy Makes Holden An Offer

Outside, Billy told Holden that Cane had hired them both at Chancellor, but there were going to be some changes, since the company was his now. Holden didn’t understand how, but asked if Billy was in charge and if he was being fired.
Billy assured Holden that he wanted to keep him on board, except he’d have to pick a side. Holden wanted to keep his hands clean, but Billy told him that wasn’t possible. “I know your instinct is to pick your sister, but that would be a mistake,” Billy advised.
Holden said that he didn’t have any specifics and thought all Billy had were hypotheticals. Claire asked what his claim was, but Billy told her they would find out very soon. He said that he saw a bright future for Holden at the company. “Why should I trust you?” Holden wondered.
“If you choose to appease your sister, you could wind up with nothing. If you choose me, let’s just say that one day, you could also run your own company,” Billy offered Holden.
Danny Debuts His New Song

Christine, Lauren, and Michael went to The Shadow Room, as Danny requested. He told them he had an important announcement and wanted them to hear it first.
Danny said that he had one more song for his new album and wanted to perform it for them. After he sang “All I Need Is You,” he said he had written it when he and Christine were broken up but rewrote the lyrics. Michael jokingly made up a song to serenade Lauren, too. Danny shared that he’d bought 50% of the club from Noah to prove he was committed to staying in town.
Rather than touring, Danny was going to keep writing and recording in Genoa City, and he could perform at the club. “Because all I need is you,” he quipped to Christine.
Christine told Lauren and Michael how happy Daniel was to have a stable parent in town. Lauren pointed out that Phyllis was devastated at not having her kids in her life, and Michael agreed. Danny hoped they found a way to move forward.
Christine insisted that Phyllis would never change, but Danny said that he just did. Christine dropped it and laughed that he was an eternal optimist. Later, Lauren and Michael left, and Christine and Danny went somewhere to find some spots in the club for some private time.
