The Young and the Restless Recap August 10: Nick Hits Rock Bottom as His Addiction Takes Over
TL;DR: In today’s The Young and the Restless recap for Monday, August 10th, 2026, Nick spiraled deeper into his addiction as Matt, Cassie, Nikki, Victor, and Victoria appeared to him in a series of disturbing visions.
The Young and the Restless Recap August 10

At the motel, Nick checked himself into a motel room and went to sleep. He was “awakened” by Matt Clark, who got in some sarcastic barbs about how the spoiled rich kid had hit rock bottom. Warning Nick that death was still on the table, they went for a drive.
As Matt drove, he told Nick (with the help of flashes of various scenes of Nick’s life) that he had it all. Matt thought he was jealous of him. Sure, he did horrible things to people, but there was an element to his life that Nick wished he had. Matt didn’t care what everyone thought of him. He made decisions on a whim, and he acted on impulse. Those were luxuries Nick Newman never had.
Matt took Nick to the Shadow Room. There, he saw Sharon, slumped over in her chair with her head on the table. Nick rushed to her, but she was out of it, making no sense. Mariah, who was working there, intervened in their conversation and blamed Nick for getting Sharon hooked on drugs as well.
Mariah said that Sharon was so consumed with saving Nick that she went down with him. When Nick apologized to Mariah, she snapped that she was Cassie. Then she yelled at him, asking how he could have learned nothing from her death. She told him that she didn’t even know the last time he was there for all of her siblings. Nick was devastated when Cassie told him he didn’t deserve to be a father.
Nick Faces His Worst Nightmare

Back in the car, Nick was driving with Sharon in the backseat when all of a sudden, Adam began choking Nick from the backseat. Sharon was screaming for him to stop; it was chaotic, and then the car crashed. Just as it did, Nick landed on the Newman ranch couch after being punched by Adam.
Chelsea came in and was sobbing as Nick begged them to tell him why they were so upset. Adam laid into him about how he always felt like the bad son while Nick was the golden child, but reality was that Adam was the responsible one, not Nick.
Still not understanding what was going on and why Chelsea and Adam were so outraged, Nick told them that he loved them. Chelsea screamed at Nick that he killed their son. She said that Connor went to visit Christian at Nick’s place, found Nick’s stash of fentanyl, was curious and tried it, and overdosed immediately.
Adam asked how he went from being the family rock to being unrecognizable. “How did you fall so far so fast?” Adam snapped. They told Nick it was too late to do anything to fix it, not that he was capable of anything except getting high. Nick tried to apologize, but they didn’t want to hear it. Matt appeared and suggested they try his motto, “Forgive and forget.”
Nick screamed at Matt that it was his fault, but Chelsea told Nick that he was to blame. Nick needed some air, but Adam called out for Nick to run away and said they never wanted to see him again.
Nick’s Addiction Haunts Him

Nick returned to the Shadow Room to talk to Cassie, but everyone there was high and slumped over. His dealer was sitting at a bar stool and told him to worry about the heavy stuff tomorrow. He held out a bag of drugs and told him one more time couldn’t hurt.
As Nick went to take it, Nikki slipped down his arm. “You’re breaking my heart!” she cried. She told him that he said the right things, but he was using and hiding it from her, after she said she’d be his sponsor.
Nikki told Nick that he had a responsibility to his children and family, but nothing mattered except the drugs. She said she put the work in to stay sober and he didn’t.
Victor came in and began arguing with Nikki. She told Nick they broke up again because Victor blamed her for not helping. Upset, Nikki said if it was good enough for Nick, it was good enough for her. She ordered a drink and swallowed it down.
As Nick asked her to stop, Victor told him that he did this to himself and destroyed his mother and the whole family. Back in his bed, Nick was sad that this was how it would end for him.
“This doesn’t have to be the end, Nicholas,” Victoria told him. She said that it was a burden always being everyone’s hero, and it took its toll on him, but it wasn’t too late to be his own.
A Stranger Knocks on Nick’s Door

Nick woke up to the sound of someone pounding on the door and asked if he was okay. He saw all the messages on his phone from Adam, Noah, and Christian asking if he was okay, and then finally answered the door.
A woman named Marie told him she was from the room next door, and he heard him crying out, and he sounded like he was in a lot of pain. Nick said he was fine. “In that case… do you have any stuff to share?” she asked.
