Diane received a gift and a card from Jack in her room at the GCAC, but she was reluctant to open it.

When she did, she found a heartfelt card telling her how much he loved her, and a platinum diamond ring by Josephine Baker. Diane packed it up and left.

When she got down the stairs, she ran into Patty in the lobby, who wanted her to know how happy Jack was that she was back, and wished Diane could’ve seen the smile she’d put on his face before she walked in.

Diane told her to beat it, but Patty said she knew who Diane was, and she didn’t deserve Jack. Patty blamed Diane for losing her child all those years ago, noting she fell after seeing Diane and Jack having sex in his office.

Patty told Diane she regretted all the things she’d done wrong and was in town to make amends. Diane seethed that making amends didn’t mean being part of Victoria’s kidnapping scheme.

Patty told Diane that one day soon her facade would inevitably drop, and then she’d be more dangerous than Patty ever was.

Nikki came by the Abbott mansion to check on Jack; Kyle told her that his dad had been pacing a lot. Nikki and Jack agreed that their situations were just getting worse.

Kyle was going to go to work in the office. Jack told Nikki after he left that Kyle was his rock, but wished he didn’t need one. Nikki said Victoria was in the same position.

Jack and Nikki talked about how crestfallen he was, but also angry that Diane wouldn’t give him the benefit of the doubt. “This is Patty Williams we’re talking about. I would never willingly go there,” Jack insisted.

Jack got scones and jam and carried them out on a tray. As he called out that he was bringing her favorites, Diane walked in.

Nikki offered to leave, but Diane told her to stay. “After all, Jack went through the trouble of putting together a tray of your…favorites,” she snapped.

Diane said she ran into Patty on her way, and it was unpleasant, but not as much as him thinking that a piece of jewelry would make it all okay.

Diane told Jack that the letter was probably sincere, but she wouldn’t accept the gift and held it out to him. She explained that accepting it meant forgiveness, and she wasn’t ready for that.

Jack asked if she thought she would ever be ready, but Diane saw Nikki staring. “Are you enjoying this?” she snapped. Diane told Nikki that she was supposed to be at the GCAC, but since she knew Diane was, she just kept showing up at the Abbott mansion so she could “waltz in to have Jack to herself.”

“Are you happy now, Nikki?” Diane seethed. She ripped into Nikki for playing a game since she always went back to Victor in the end.

“A new car, a shiny object. Hey, who knows, there might be a gift bag waiting for you!” Diane mocked. Jack made the mistake of taking up for Nikki, and Diane lost it.

“I love you! I just want for you to look at me and see the man who once promised to be your home,” Jack pleaded. He told her he’d be there with open arms when she was ready.

Choking back tears, Diane told them to enjoy their scones and ran out. Jack asked if Nikki thought his marriage was over yet.

Nikki said that where there was love, there was hope, and she could tell that Diane still loved him. However, she thought it was desperate times, which required desperate actions. “Might be time for the nuclear option,” Jack said.

At Society, Phyllis saw Victoria, and they began sparring about all the employees quitting. Phyllis told her that nothing they were trying to do was working, but she wouldn’t let it ruin her. Victoria told Phyllis she’d be rethinking that soon.

Victoria told Phyllis that one of her father’s superpowers was that you never see him coming. Christine came in to meet Victoria, and the two of them insulted her about her kids hating on her.

Phyllis watched Christine and Victoria while they chatted near the bar, out of her earshot. There, Victoria told Christine that Victor was pleased about her D.A. position, but Christine didn’t understand why he would know or care. Victoria said that she wanted her to know that the Newmans were committed to justice.

Christine said she was aware of how committed they were — when it served them. She noted that she hadn’t agreed to take the job yet.

Kyle interrupted to say he’d seen Phyllis in the restaurant earlier. Victoria asked about Harrison, so he told her not to ask about his family as she cared.

Kyle advised Victoria to rein in her father. “I’m sorry,” Victoria faltered, embarrassed. “Yeah, well, those words carry about as much weight as Phyllis saying them to you,” Kyle retorted before leaving.

Christine asked Victoria what Victor had done to upset Kyle, but Victoria said her father had lost everything and was desperate to make it right.

“Victor’s version of justice can be a little out there,” Christine noted. “He was the victim. You can’t say the same thing about Phyllis,” Victoria replied.

Victoria told Christine that she wanted to meet with her about the situation. “What would you say if I told you I had information to take down Phyllis for good if you were the D.A.?” Victoria asked.

Across the restaurant, Phyllis wondered what they were up to as Kyle came in. They exchanged some sarcasm, then she left.

At GCAC, Phyllis ran into Patty and was shocked. She said she didn’t believe the rumors that Patty had been discharged from the hospital and was free to roam.

Patty noted that Phyllis had been given second chances and thought she’d relate, but Phyllis didn’t think they compared.

Patty taunted Phyllis by asking about Summer and guessed that they were on the outs. She told Phyllis to see a professional about her anger and told her it was unhealthy before leaving.

Michael assured Lauren that he wasn’t there at Victor’s bidding; he wanted her to have all the facts to protect herself.

Lauren told Michael about the mass exodus of employees leaving without notice, but Phyllis was handling it like a badass. She said it gave them the opportunity to hand-pick a top-notch, loyal staff, including Michael, who is in charge of legal.

He told her about the new AI app and how it was setting Phyllis up with fabricated evidence to force her to give back the company.

Lauren insisted on telling Phyllis and staying by her side. Michael said he would help her try to convince get out before it all crumbled. Lauren didn’t think Phyllis would cave, but Michael said that given the charges she’d be up against, it was her only chance.

Phyllis stormed in and told them about her run-in with Patty by the entrance. Lauren confirmed that Patty was legally released.

Michael told Phyllis about Victor’s plan, but Phyllis was undeterred. “It’s very serious, and it’s very real,” Lauren warned. Michael told her he could offer her a way out.
