The Young and the Restless Recap April 17: Matt Lures Sharon and Noah, Diane Chooses Victor Over Jack

TL;DR: In today’s Young and the Restless recap, Victor successfully drives a wedge between Jack and Diane when she shockingly takes Victor’s word over Jack’s. In Las Vegas, Adam and Nick are rescued by Chelsea, but not before Adam realizes Nick has a drug addiction. The danger is far from over: Matt escapes and then texts Sharon and Noah using Nick’s phone, luring them both to Vegas.

The Young and the Restless Recap April 17

Jack met Nikki at the GCAC for dinner, and she updated him on her latest argument with Victor. They both agreed that they couldn’t stand being so far apart from their spouses, but didn’t know how to fix their marriages.

Nikki shared how she’d tried to get through to Diane for him, to no avail. Jack thought it was a noble effort, and she was a good friend for trying.

Nikki and Jack commiserated as they tried to find a way to smooth things over with their spouses. Jack made Nikki laugh, and she thanked him, noting it had been a long time since she did that. “Well, well, well,” they heard Victor say as he approached their table.

Diane Chooses Victor Over Jack

Diane also came in and saw the scene. Jack tried to take her away to talk, but she made it clear she was still not interested. Instead, she wanted to talk to Victor.

Diane announced that as much as she hated to admit it, he was right. She said that Victor was a better judge of her husband’s character than she was.

“You can’t mean that,” Jack said, jaw-dropped. Victor told him to accept defeat and move on. As Victor smirked, Jack told him he would pay for what he had done. “Your threats are empty. The only thing you’re capable of is destroying your marriage,” Victor told him.

Victor triumphantly walked away as Jack asked Diane how she could take Victor’s word over his. “Oh, are you feeling betrayed? That’s exactly how I felt,” she snapped before going up to her room. 

Nikki rushed over and put her hand on Jack’s shoulder. He snapped that he was on the verge of desperate times and said something needed to give — and soon.

Michael Surprises Lauren

Lauren arrived at Summers Conglomerate and walked into her new office to find flowers, candles, champagne, and a card of support and congratulations from Michael. She turned to find him in the doorway, adding to the list of compliments that he had written to her about how proud he was of her on her new venture.

Michael saw the spark in Lauren and thought her new job suited her. Lauren agreed she had a spark, but said he was the one who put it there.

Lauren did a toast to Phyllis for her reckless drive and said how much she admired her ability to go against the odds and succeed. Michael thought it was odd to toast Phyllis, but he went along with it.

Michael turned on the music, and the happy couple danced in her office. He was going to let her work, but Lauren suggested they go home instead. But Michael had a better idea and wanted to be reckless too; they began to undress right there in her office.

Adam Wakes Up

In the storage room, Adam woke up and recalled what had happened. He saw Nick and woke him up. Groggily, Nick asked Adam to untie his hands and asked where they were.

Adam explained that Matt said that he’d OD’d and died, but brought him to see him. “He said you had an addiction problem. From the looks of things, he may be right,” Adam assessed.

Nick told Adam how he’d been kidnapped from Riza’s room, and that Matt said he was going to keep him hooked on opioids. Matt realized that Nick had already been using drugs before they got to Vegas.

Nick mumbled that he only had what Matt gave him after he took him. Adam saw a phone on the wall and called Chelsea. He told her they were down the hall in a closet and to come find them, but watch out for Matt.

Chelsea told Adam that Matt came to see her and was a creep, but didn’t hurt her, and said he was going to disappear like a magician. “Then that means it’s not over,” Adam deduced.

Matt Visits Chelsea

From the hotel room, Chelsea called Sharon and told her she was in Vegas and that Nick was missing. Sharon was worried, but Chelsea said she had to call her back because someone was at the door.

Chelsea hung up and looked through the peephole and saw Matt. For some reason, she let him in and demanded to know where Adam and Nick were. Matt did his usual sarcastic banter, but Chelsea hollered at him to tell her where they were.

Matt told Chelsea he liked that she was feisty. Chelsea tried to figure it out, suggesting they were still in the building. 

Chelsea asked if Nick was alive, but he told her that when he took Adam to see Nick, he seemed pretty dead. He told Chelsea not to look for him, and he was going to make himself disappear like a Vegas magician as he walked out the door.

Chelsea Finds Adam and Nick

Adam stayed on the phone and guided her to where he thought they were. Nick looked at a box next to him and saw all the fentanyl packages in it.

While Chelsea was trying the lock, Nick grabbed a handful and put it in his pocket. When they got back to the room, Adam explained that Nick had been drugged, so he didn’t look too good.

Nick said he just needed to splash water on his face and went to the restroom. While alone, Adam told Chelsea he wanted to believe it was a one-time situation, but he didn’t think so.

In the restroom, Nick did some cocaine and came back, re-energized to figure out Matt’s next move. Adam and Nick knew that Matt had taken their phones, but Nick wanted to call Sharon.

Nick lost it when Chelsea said she’d told Sharon what was going on. He barked that Sharon and Noah would be on the first flight out there, and they had to find Matt before he got to Sharon and Noah.

Matt Messages Sharon

At Crimson Lights, Sharon called Nick and couldn’t reach him, but left another message asking him to call her. Just then, Noah came in, and she reluctantly told him that Nick was missing.

Noah immediately wanted to go to Vegas and thought he could have prevented all of it had he been there to begin with.

Meanwhile, in Las Vegas, Matt pulled out Nick’s phone while on the elevator and texted Sharon: “I have Matt. Come to Vegas now if you want to see him go down,” he wrote.

Sharon read the message out loud to Noah. “Finally. What are we waiting for?” Noah asked. “Sharon replied, “We are on our way.” Matt got the message and smiled, “Can’t wait to see you, Sharon.”
