Who Is Kelly Kruger? Meet the Actress Playing Serena Baldwin on General Hospital
When General Hospital announced that Kelly Kruger would be taking over the role of Serena Baldwin, daytime fans immediately recognized a familiar face. Although she’s making her debut in Port Charles for the first time, Kruger is no stranger to the world of soaps.
Having built a career that spans The Young and the Restless, The Bold and the Beautiful, Hallmark Channel movies, and numerous primetime television appearances, she’s now adding another iconic daytime role to her résumé as she joins one of television’s longest-running dramas.
Here’s a closer look at the actress behind Serena Baldwin.
Kelly Kruger Joins General Hospital

Originally from Canada, Kelly Kruger’s soap breakthrough came in 2002 when she was cast as Mackenzie “Mac” Browning on The Young and the Restless. Stepping into a role already beloved by viewers is never easy, but Kruger made the character her own during her run on the CBS daytime drama. Mac’s romances, friendships, and family relationships made her a central part of Genoa City for several years and introduced Kruger to a devoted fanbase.
Kruger later appeared on The Bold and the Beautiful, where she played public relations rep Eva, adding a second CBS soap opera to her growing list of credits. While the role was shorter than her time on The Young and the Restless, it allowed her to reconnect with daytime audiences and showcased her versatility.
Kruger has also appeared in numerous television series and TV movies, including projects for Hallmark Channel, while continuing to build a presence through lifestyle and beauty content on social media. Her work across multiple genres has allowed her to balance acting with other creative pursuits while maintaining strong connections with her longtime fans.
Away from acting, Kruger is the mother of two daughters and has spoken about balancing family life with her career. She continues to work across television, lifestyle content, and daytime drama while embracing new opportunities, including her return to soaps as Serena Baldwin on General Hospital.
Kelly Kruger Announces Her Debut

Serena’s next chapter begins on July 30, when Kelly Kruger debuts in the role. Already familiar to daytime audiences through The Young and the Restless (Mackenzie Browning) and The Bold and the Beautiful (Eva), Kruger announced the news herself on social media, sharing her excitement about joining General Hospital.
Kruger first posted last month that she was excited to share she wasn’t only coming back to daytime but to General Hospital, a show she had hoped to work on for a long time. “There is truly no world like the soap world. The fans, the community, and the family. I’m so, so grateful,” she shared.
Kruger also recently posted that her first airdate would be July 30th, asking fans if they were ready to meet Serena. “So excited to be back on your screen again!! I am the luckiest person in the world to work with these amazingly talented people on GH. Thanks for welcoming me with open arms,” the actress enthused.
Serena Baldwin’s Return To Port Charles

For longtime GH fans, Serena Baldwin is a familiar name in a legendary family tree on General Hospital. For newer viewers, the casting of Kelly Kruger as Serena Baldwin offers an opportunity to discover both a legacy character and an actress with extensive experience bringing complex daytime roles to life.
As General Hospital continues to celebrate its rich history (recently hitting the 16,000th episode!) while introducing new stories, Kruger’s arrival helps bridge the show’s past and present.
