The Young and the Restless Recap Jan 29: Adam reveals Victor’s plan, Claire surprises Kyle
In the Young and the Restless recap for Thursday, January 29, 2026, Adam shared Victor’s plan with Chelsea and Nikki, and got surprising reactions, and Claire reassessed her feelings about Kyle.

At the Abbott mansion, Diane found Kyle in the dining room. He told her how Harrison manipulated him and Claire to bring them together. “Did it work?” Diane asked.
Kyle said he’d learned the hard way that relationships have to grow organically, not force them. He said he’d reflected on his impatience and entitlement.
Diane wondered if he was really ready to give up on his relationship, but Kyle thought Claire was, and he had no choice but to accept it.
At the ranch, Nikki and Claire lamented the demise of Newman Enterprises. Nikki said that Victor would go to any lengths to stop it.
Nikki admitted that Victor hadn’t told her what his plan was, and was worried about what it was.
Claire said she was staying distracted from it all by Holden. However, she was put off by his connection to Audra.
Claire said that Audra’s sudden act of civility made her even less trustworthy. She didn’t think she could fully trust Holden with the dark cloud of his secret past with Audra hanging over them.
As Claire talked about Kyle and Harrison, her face lit up. Nikki wondered if Claire considered getting back together with Kyle.
Claire thought that Kyle was sincere about ending things. She said she did miss him so Nikki told her that she and Victor found their way back to one another many times, and if they were meant to be, she and Kyle would, too.
At Society, Chelsea couldn’t believe they’d been evicted from their offices. Adam told her not to pack up and move yet since Victor had a plan to turn things around.
Chelsea knew that if Nikki wasn’t in the loop, it was probably dangerous or illegal. Chelsea thought that was all the more reason for her to be told the plan.
Chelsea could tell Adam was conflicted; he admitted he wasn’t sure. He said it might work, but regardless, he was ordered to do it.
Adam loved that Victor trusted only him, but Chelsea thought it was odd that he wanted to protect everyone else except him. Regardless, she reminded Adam of his promise that they were a team.
“Whatever Victor’s plan is, Adam, I can tell it’s making you uneasy, so you should talk about it,” she said. She asked him to trust her enough to tell her.
Adam reluctantly told her that Victor wanted to use Lily, Mattie, and Charlie as leverage against Cane by making Cane believe they’re in jeopardy so he’ll negotiate. “Wait, he’s not going to kidnap Lily and the twins, is he?” Chelsea asked.
Adam and Chelsea discussed how, if they could get Lily and her kids together and put them somewhere with no contact with anyone, it could just look like they were missing.
Chelsea noted it was sounding more and more like an abduction. Adam didn’t see any way to pull it off without it being a “forced coercion.” Chelsea asked how far he could go with the plan.
Adam said he’d never truly frighten Lily or the kids, and didn’t want to do anything to jeopardize his relationship with Chelsea. She told him if there was a way to keep Lily and his family safe while forcing Cane to capitulate, it was game over.
Nikki summoned Adam and Chelsea to the main house and demanded to be let in on the plan. Adam told her she had to understand why he wouldn’t go against his father’s wishes.
“Maybe you can’t, but I can,” Chelsea said coyly. Chelsea told the plan to kindly abduct Lily and the kids. Nikki said it could work, and if it did, Victor was a genius.
Nikki and Adam agreed that they had to be careful not to scare Lily, or let it get out of control. Nikki was 100% on board under the condition that they convince Lily that this was how to right Cane’s wrongs. “We have to bring her into the plan,” Nikki said.
At Crimson Lights, Claire and Kyle walked in opposite doors at the same time. When he remembered her favorite scone, she was touched. “Of course. I remember everything,” he said as they smiled warmly at one another.
Claire and Kyle chatted about the Newman Enterprises situation over coffee. Kyle didn’t think anyone at this point could get Phyllis and Cane to back off.
Claire asked Kyle to tell her honestly whether he thought the company’s fall was payback for all the terrible things Victor had done over the years.
Kyle said that he knew she loved Victor, and he respected that he loved her as well. They agreed to disagree about how awful Victor was.
Before Kyle left, Claire asked him out to dinner, and he happily accepted.
