The Young and the Restless Recap

At the Abbott mansion, Jack told Diane about his evening with Victor and said that he could tell that he was scared. He saw doubt and uncertainty in his eyes, and he was rattled, as if taken by surprise. “The town bully just got punched in the face,” Jack told her.
Jack warned that they still needed to keep their guard up as Jabot could still be in jeopardy. Jack wanted to call Nikki and find out what was going on.
At the ranch, Victoria and Adam made panic calls while Nikki wondered how the attack on Newman Enterprises could be happening since Victor had the AI app. Victor said it wasn’t an inside job, as no one at Newman knew he had it.
Victor suspected Phyllis or Cane put something in the software to have control of it. He figured that it would all come down to negotiating, and regardless of whether Phyllis and Cane hated him, everyone had a price.
Nikki told Victor that the program was the real enemy. Because of it, they could lose everything they had spent their entire lives building. Victoria told them that she’d managed to move their assets offline, but the program was fast, and she’d never seen anything like it. “Your father has,” Nikki seethed.
Victoria called an emergency department head meeting, and Adam said that he’d call the other news outlets and call in some favors to spin the story that everything is fine. Victor told them that Newman Enterprises was too big to be brought down by a bug. Just then, Victoria got a message that a whole division had been wiped out.
Victor stomped out, muttering about Phyllis and Cane. Nikki fumed to Victoria and Adam about how unnecessary all of it was. She told Victoria about Jack bringing Matt to trade for the app, but Victor wouldn’t do it. Adam pointed out that at least Jack could rest easy now about Jabot being attacked.
Sally watched Billy drink a shot as he toasted the demise of Newman, noting that after all the years of berating by Victor, he was watching his comeuppance and loved it. Sally, however, was not amused.
Sally asked Billy about his drinking and expressed her concerns. Billy was mildly irritated that she rained on his moment of glory, but tried to assure her there was nothing to worry about.
When Sally told Billy that she overheard the conversation he’d had with Jack, he didn’t see what the big deal was. Sally explained that she was upset that he had just promised her that revenge against Victor didn’t mean anything to him, and that wasn’t true.
Sally added that the reason Adam and Chelsea’s affair upset her so much was that he lied to her about his feelings. She compared that to Billy not being honest about how much he truly wanted revenge on Victor for how he’d treated him.
Sally understood that Billy held resentment for Victor’s treatment of him, but the fact that he couldn’t say that to her bothered her. She was also miffed that he held an obsessive grudge against people who’d wronged him.
Billy admitted it was him who took Victor down, but he didn’t. Sally said that she was the one who constantly had to provoke the uncomfortable conversations and that he had an obsession problem.
Billy dialed it back and said that nothing was happening that would make Sally want to walk out the door. Billy assured her he was on solid footing, and he was glad she addressed her concerns with him. Billy won her over by kissing, but she made him promise he’d stop obsessing over payback on people.
Cane popped some champagne for him and Phyllis to drink in his bedroom as she fantasized about the moment Victor handed her the key to Newman Enterprises and told her that she was the real genius all along.
“To new adventures,” Cane toasted. “This is to having it all,” Phyllis cheered with delight. She said the only thing better was if they were there to see it. “Do you know the face he’s going to see on his way down? Mine,” Phyllis said.
As Phyllis recounted how poorly Victor had treated her for a long time, she couldn’t wait to tell him who was responsible for him losing everything.
Phyllis and Cane chuckled about Victor’s office and who would use it. Cane didn’t want it, but said they should keep up the portrait. Phyllis joked they could use it as a dartboard.
Just then, Victor texted Phyllis, then tried calling Cane, but they decided to let him stew a while and drank more champagne. Cane got serious and said that he was bothered about earlier.
Cane said he saw sadness in Billy’s eyes, knew what they were up to, and it broke his heart. Cane felt guilty and thought that Phyllis should be sympathetic. Phyllis snapped that Billy was only out for himself.
Phyllis was too hurt by Billy to care, and reminded Cane that he and Billy weren’t brothers. Cane still insisted he wanted to help him. Phyllis warned him that if he did, he’d be the one ending up with a broken heart.
Cane went back to kissing Phyllis. She checked the time and wondered if it was too late to go to Victor’s and tell him it was too late, and he’d lost. Cane agreed to do it; he said for her to take a quick shower, and he’d check the progress of their attack. While Phyllis was in the shower, Cane called Billy. He told him he wanted to talk to him in the morning.
As Cane and Phyllis were readying to leave, Victor came in. He said he knew he’d find them there together, then asked Cane what it would take to end the madness.
