In The Young and the Restless recap, Lauren and Michael celebrate their 20th wedding anniversary, with a little help from flashbacks and an uninvited guest.

Lauren found Michael waiting for her at the GCAC and, like the night he first proposed, had a blackjack table set. She said that there was a particular night years ago when she did quite well playing and asked him to deal her in. Michael dealt three cards and turned each one over, revealing “Happy 20th Anniversary.”
Lauren thought when she didn’t hear from him all day, he’d forgotten their anniversary, but he said he was busy setting things up for her surprise. He wanted to ensure that she remembered some of the best moments of their life together.
The flashbacks began with the moment he proposed, and the fireworks of streamers, confetti, and flashing lights went off. From Michael recreating their honeymoon to strip poker in the office, there was a myriad of fun and loving moments between the two.
Lauren teased Michael that he’d have to be lucky at the card table to get lucky with her, and they played Blackjack as they continued to reminisce. There were tender moments, like when Michael realized they were having a baby. Lauren told Michael that it was the best day ever, and Michael said that aside from their wedding day, Fenmore’s birth was the best day ever.
Michael won a hand, so Lauren happily kissed him, but they were interrupted by Phyllis walking by. “What is this, casino night?” she asked. Phyllis realized they rented out “her living room” and that it looked like they were recreating their proposal. They told her it was their anniversary.
Michael started to rant that Phyllis was the perpetual party crasher. Lauren interrupted and said that she wanted peace between the three of them. “We’re best friends. That’s an unbreakable bond,” Lauren told them. Another flashback was of Michael and Phyllis talking about them about to get married, and times they hung out together when they were close.
In one of their flashbacks, Phyllis was pregnant with Summer at the same time as Lauren was with Fenmore. Michael remembered that they had a lot of good times together, and Lauren said she wanted to get back to that. Phyllis agreed to work on it.
Phyllis was impressed that Michael recreated his proposal and told Lauren that he really was a good guy. She congratulated them on twenty years, and said she was in awe. Phyllis admitted she was a little jealous but said she was proud to be part of their history.
Lauren, Michael, and Phyllis had a group hug. While the other two were smiling, Phyllis was a little stiff. She told them she didn’t want to ruin their party and start crying, so she was going ot leave. Lauren told Phyllis that they loved her very much before she left.
After Phyllis left, Michael and Lauren went back to kissing and reminiscing. Michael surprised Phyllis with the same cake they had at their wedding. As they shared a slice, they talked about the challenges they faced over the years, like when Michael thought Lauren had died, Michael’s cancer, and when Lauren had an affair.
Michael wheeled in a suitcase and announced they were taking a getaway trip in Las Vegas with Scott and Fenmore. They had another flashback to doing the tango, then their wedding vows, and their private celebration for Christmas in a hotel room.
Lauren told Michael that the best gift he’d ever given her was Fen, and that the next 20 years would be just as good. Lauren didn’t think it was possible that the future could be any more wonderful than it had already been.
