The Bold and the Beautiful Recap Jan 16: Katie shocks Brooke, RJ draws the family tree for Electra

In the Bold and the Beautiful recap for Friday, January 16, 2026, Brooke wants to make amends, Eric’s mind is made up, and RJ and Electra get acquainted.

In the Forrester CEO’s office, Brooke and Ridge caught RJ up on Katie’s departure from Forrester and “stealing” her surname for a new fashion house. Brooke said she wanted to make things right with Katie and thought she’d drop by her office to do just that.

Once alone, Ridge told RJ he hoped he’d quenched his wanderlust and would be sticking around. Electra came in to see Ridge, but she and RJ stopped in their tracks when their eyes met. Ridge introduced them. “Electra, I want you to meet my son, RJ,” he said.

Electra thought it was odd that they never met before, even when they were growing up. RJ noted that he and Electra shared the same last name but weren’t really related because of “the whole Marone thing.”

Alone, Electra and RJ talked, and then she remembered she needed to put the jewels in the safe. She moved the portrait of the racehorse to open the safe as she commented to RJ how expensive they were.

After she locked the safe, Electra realized she’d forgotten the heart necklace she was wearing. RJ helped take it off and then told her he’d put it in the safe for her. As he held the pendant, he said, “Don’t worry, Electra, your heart is safe with me.”

Donna came to see Katie at the office, but found Eric there instead. He happily told her that he was Katie’s new lead designer. Donna wondered what Brooke and Ridge thought, but he told her that he didn’t want them to know yet.

Eric explained that he would tell them when the time was right, and he wanted to make sure it was a good fit for him at Logan first. Eric didn’t think he’d be interacting with Bill very much.

Eric got a text from Ridge asking if he wanted to play tennis on the weekend. Eric took a pass as he’d be busy.

Donna didn’t like the secret, but Eric said that Ridge didn’t own him — any more than Brooke owned the name Logan. He added that Ridge and Brooke retired him, and he was now a free agent to do what he chose to. 

Donna wondered what she should say if Brooke asked, but Eric made it clear to her: “Brooke and Ridge put me out to pasture. This is of their own making, and they’re in for the shock of their lives.”

Katie went to Bill’s office, and he was anxious to find a designer. He wanted to get busy with interviews, but Katie announced that she’d hired Eric. She assured him that she didn’t even need to poach him, as Eric offered.

Bill assumed Eric was there to stick it to Ridge on some level. He wanted to tell the world they had landed him, but Katie calmed him down and said it was important to keep it quiet for a while. Katie thanked Bill for his support and noted she wished that Brooke felt the same way.

After Bill left for a meeting, Brooke walked in. She noted the Logan logo and said that it bothered her that Katie was still using her name for the company. But she added that it bothered her even more that they were still at odds.

Katie wished she and Brooke could go back to the way things were, but still had the feeling that things would only get worse in the future. Brooke told her she didn’t want her to fail, but she was worried about her sister’s success.

Brooke told her that she’s been in the industry for decades and admitted she may have been tough on Katie. “Maybe I was just being a little too realistic,” she explained. 

Brooke went on about how she had Ridge through her career but Katie had no one but Bill. She called Katie’s company a one-woman show but thought it was admirable that she was trying. “I know you mean well, but I’m happy,” Katie replied.

Katie confidently told Brooke she was scared at first, but she’s surrounded by those who believe in her and she had all the tools she needed to succeed in her business.

Katie listed how she had manufacturing ready and a distributor. Brooke reminded her that she still needed an experienced team to work with. 

Katie told Brooke she had a designer. “Since when?” Brooke asked. Just then, Eric walked in. “Eric! What are you doing here?” Brooke asked. No one answered but the looks exchanged between Eric and Katie said it all. Brooke’s eyes widened as she realized, and then she glared at Katie.
