The Bold and the Beautiful Family Tree Breakdown: How RJ, Will, and Electra Are Actually Related
On The Bold and the Beautiful, Will, Electra, and RJ are all part of the family business. But if you’re wondering how they’re connected in the Forrester family tree, we’ve got it figured out.
The Forrester Family Tree on The Bold and the Beautiful
When Will Spencer (Crew Morrow) interrupted RJ Forrester’s (Brayan Nicoletti) conversation with Electra Forrester (Laneya Grace) today, he didn’t think too much of RJ’s implied flirtations. “Aren’t you two cousins?” he asked.
Indeed, they are — as are Will and RJ. So doesn’t that make Will and Electra related as well? It’s a messy tree on paper, for sure, but we’re going in to figure it all out:
Electra Forrester
Although she seems the one most out of the family tree loop, Electra has deep roots. She is the granddaughter of John Forrester, Eric Forrester’s fun-loving brother (played by the late Fred Willard). That makes her Eric’s grandniece and Ivy Forrester’s niece. Her father is John Forrester Jr., Ivy’s brother. Genetically speaking, she is 100% Forrester royalty, carrying the bloodline directly from the founders.
RJ Forrester
RJ (aka Ridge Junior) is the son of Ridge Forrester and Brooke Logan. While Ridge was raised as Eric’s firstborn, we (and he) all know the DNA truth: Ridge is biologically the son of Massimo Marone.
So, while RJ and Electra share a last name and a legendary grandfather figure in Eric, they share zero DNA. In the world of soaps, this one in particular, that’s practically a green light for romance, even if sharing the Forrester surname makes family dinners awkward.
Case in point: Thope. At least RJ and Electra never crossed paths in their 20-something years on earth, whereas Rick and Thomas dated and married their step-sisters, whom they basically grew up with. Yeah.
Will Spencer
Will Spencer sits on a completely different branch — mostly. As the son of Bill Spencer and Katie Logan, he is a Spencer heir with a Logan heart.
His connection to RJ is simple: they are first cousins through their mothers. Brooke and Katie are sisters, making RJ and Will blood relatives on the Logan side. However, (and thankfully), Will has no biological relation to Electra.
The Root of the Matter
RJ + Will = First cousins
Will + Electra = No relation.
RJ + Electra = No blood relation, but legal/social second cousins
So, while RJ making eyes at a girl named Forrester might feel scandalous, the writers are technically in the clear. But with Will and RJ already sharing Logan blood and a history of step-sibling rivalry, adding Electra to the mix is a recipe for a classic Forrester vs. Spencer war.
