Mark Grossman Praises Roger Howarth on The Young and the Restless

Since Roger Howarth joined The Young and the Restless, viewers have watched Matt Clark become surprisingly intertwined with some of Genoa City’s biggest names. One pairing in particular has stood out to fans: Matt’s scenes with Adam Newman (Mark Grossman).

As it turns out, Mark Grossman is enjoying those scenes just as much as viewers are. During an exclusive interview with The Soap Scene, Grossman had nothing but praise for his scene partner, revealing that working with Howarth has been one of the highlights of the current storyline.

When asked about the growing dynamic between Adam and Matt, Grossman immediately pointed to Howarth’s performance. “I love working with Roger, man. That guy is so talented,” Grossman said.

The actor praised both Howarth’s delivery and the material he has been given since arriving in Genoa City. “They’ve been giving him such great dialogue. He can just run with it,” Grossman added.

Grossman admitted that sometimes he finds himself enjoying the performance as much as the audience. “I’m in the scene with him, and I’m enjoying it so much just watching him do this because it’s just so good,” he told us.

Why The Dynamic Works

Part of what makes the pairing appealing, according to Grossman, is that Adam and Matt don’t have decades of history weighing them down. Unlike Adam’s relationships with Victor (Eric Braeden), Nick (Joshua Morrow), or Sharon (Sharon Case), this partnership began with a blank slate.

Grossman described it as an opportunity to explore something new, both for the actors and the characters. The result has been a fresh dynamic that many viewers have embraced since Adam met Matt.

The actor made it clear that he hopes the storyline continues to give them opportunities to work together. “He’s a pleasure to work with and so fun to watch,” Grossman told The Soap Scene.

Grossman said he would welcome more scenes between the two characters moving forward, particularly if the material allows them to continue developing the unique rhythm they have established.

The scenes have also allowed fans to see a different side of Adam. While Adam’s relationships with many Genoa City residents are shaped by years of conflict and family baggage, his interactions with Matt have been lighter, sharper, and often unexpectedly funny.

That change of pace has not gone unnoticed by viewers, many of whom have praised the chemistry between Grossman and Howarth online.

Speaking of the scenes and dialogue between Adam and Matt one-on-one at the Newman ranch, he noted, “I hope we get into some more scenes because those were funny.”
