Kristina Corinthos-Davis and Ethan Lovett: The General Hospital Romance That Hasn’t Happened…Yet

On General Hospital, Kristina Corinthos-Davis and Ethan Lovett were never actually a romantic couple, but the potential was there — and fans are thinking it might return when Ethan comes back to Port Charles later this week.

Ethan Lovett first arrived in Port Charles as a charming drifter with a knack for cards and a mischievous sense of humor. He soon found himself working at Luke Spencer’s (Anthony Geary) Haunted Star casino and quickly became part of the town’s orbit.

Kristina (then-Lexi Aisnworth), the daughter of Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) and Alexis Davis (Nancy Lee Grahn), was still navigating the challenges of growing up in one of Port Charles’ most complicated families. When she met Ethan, she was drawn to his easygoing nature and rebellious streak.

The two connected quickly, but what was friendship for him was a bit of a crush for her.

Kristina’s Boyfriend

At the time, Kristina was going through one of the most painful periods of her young life. She had been trapped in an abusive relationship with Kiefer Bauer (Christian Alexander), something she had tried to keep hidden from many of the people around her.

Ethan cared about Kristina and tried to support her as she struggled to deal with Kiefer, who was increasingly jealous of his girlfriend’s friendship with Ethan. After overhearing Kristina talking about Ethan with her older sister, Sam (Kelly Monaco), Kiefer went into a blind rage of jealousy.

Ethan was the one who found a beaten Kristina and brought her to the hospital. Everyone believed it was Ethan who had hurt her, and when Kristina panicked and was questioned, she blamed Ethan. 

Sonny wanted to hurt Ethan for hurting his daughter, a crime that could not go unpunished in his books. But by then, he knew that Ethan was Luke’s son, and Alexis pointed out that the last thing Kristina wanted was more violence. Jason was also suspicious of Kiefer and thought that Ethan was innocent. In the end, Sonny didn’t hurt him, and the truth eventually came out.

The Potential

Of course, not all GH fans are rooting for an Ethanina pairing. Some pointed out that Ethan’s life was nothing less than toxic, with Kristina’s unhealthy infatuation for him and her constantly interfering in his relationships.

However, that was a long time ago, and the Kristina we see these days is calmer…usually… and reflective. Maybe a dose of romance with someone she knows and trusts is exactly what she needs.
