There will be a new face in Port Charles next month as Jonathan Bennett is joining the cast of General Hospital, with his first airdate in May as the character Joe Fitzpatrick.

The show’s executive producer, Frank Valentini, told People, “We’re so excited to have Jonathan joining our cast. He’s a tremendous talent and will be a fantastic addition to GH.”
Fans of Bennett fondly remember him as the heartthrob Aaron Samuels in the hit movie Mean Girls. The actor isn’t new to daytime drama. Bennett’s acting career began when he was discovered by an agent while sitting on a train, who booked him a few months later to replace Jesse McCartney as JR Chandler on All My Children.

“I started my career on soaps, and when the opportunity to go and play a really fun character on General Hospital came up, it felt like a no-brainer,” Bennett told the outlet. “I learned how to act on daytime television when I was 19 years old. Now I’m coming back, but I have a few more tools in my tool belt, so this should be fun!”
But Bennett’s time in soaps was over 20 years ago. Aside from the big screen, he’s become a mainstay at Hallmark, starring in, creating, and producing holiday movies for the network. He also hosts Halloween Wars on Food Network, and emceed this year’s 2026 GLAAD Media Awards.
