General Hospital: The Dead, The Undead, and WSB Director Ross Cullum

On General Hospital, some of the ghosts of criminals past have been coming out to play in Port Charles lately. Some have returned from the dead, some have popped up in nightmares, and others are likely figments of someone’s machinations. So, let’s take a look at some of the dead and undead of Port Charles and see how they are connected to the current storylines.

General Hospital’s Deadly Past is Present Again

Back in December, Esme Prince (Avery Kristen Pohl) and Cyrus Renault (Jeff Kober) visited Laura Collins (Genie Francis) in her nightmare after Jenz Sidwell (Carlo Rota) threatened to frame her for Professor Dalton’s (Daniel Goddard) death.

When Maxie Jones (Kristen Storms) returns to Port Charles next month, let’s hope the shock of seeing Nathan West (Ryan Paevey) alive doesn’t send her right back into a coma. His sister, Britt Westbourne (Kelly Thiebauld), is also back from the dead — and has become an integral part of a storyline where working in a lab on Spoon Island to “complete Cesar Faison’s (Anders Hove) final project” has become a do-or-die proposition.

Meanwhile, in the tunnels of Wyndermere, Anna Devane (Finola Hughes) is being drugged and tormented by Sidwell, Pascal (Marc Forget), and the WSB Director Ross Cullum (Andrew Hawkes).

Anna has been communicating with Faison’s voice — Wizard of Oz-style — and then had to endure a hellish, hallucinatory visit from Faison’s demented and departed son, her nephew, Peter August/Henrik Faison (Wes Ramsey).

It’s not yet clear where the writers are headed with all of these characters, but with the introduction of the WSB’s latest duplicitous leader, Ross Cullum (Andrew Hawkes), some questions could finally be answered, and loose ends tied up.

What We Know about Cullum So Far

Cullum is the current director of the WSB’s European Division, and let Jack Brennan (Chris L. McKenna) know that he was there to investigate some of his decisions.

However, Cullum is also partnered with Sidwell to complete Faison’s final project and seems to be calling the shots about Anna’s fate.

After Pascal lost control of their prisoner, Cullum stepped in to knock Anna out. He then ordered that she was losing value and wouldn’t be around much longer.

Cullum also discussed with Brennan that Anna is on a secret WSB mission and that she was lost.

If his duplicity wasn’t bad enough, Cullum gave viewers chills when he threatened to send Rocco to Steinmauer in an effort to get Britt in line. She quickly packed her bags and said goodbye to her reclaimed life to work under duress in his lab.

Questions We Have about Cullum

It’s entirely possible that Cullum worked with Faison when he was alive. No one knows why it’s so vital to finish the project within the next three months, but lives are on the line if it’s not done.

Is there an expiry date for something Britt has in the lab? Is Cullum working with anyone else? Was Cullum also working for the DVX?

When Cullum questioned Brennan about his work, he wanted files on Valentin. Was Cullum also part of Pikeman Security Group?

Could Cullum’s Presence Mean Pikeman or Its Influence Isn’t Completely Gone?

Currently, Jack is hunting Valentin (James Patrick Stuart), and Valentin is secretly working with Carly (Laura Wright) to exact revenge on Jack. Supposedly, Pikeman no longer exists, but what if it or its influence isn’t completely gone?

It could be that Ross Cullum was involved and/or is the real power behind Pikeman. If he was the leader, how much power has he had over Jack and Valentin?

There’s a possibility that neither Jack nor Valentin is as bad as they think the other is. Did Sidwell gun for Sonny and his piers because he has been working with Cullum and/or Pikeman all along?

Loose Ends

When he was alive, did Cyrus work with or against Pikeman? Is Nathan really Nathan, and has he been involved with Faison’s final project as well? Was Liesl aware of this project? Will anyone find out it was Sidwell who poisoned Maxie? Will Britt send a sample of her Huntington’s medicine to Pfizer so they can duplicate it and allow her to live bribe-free? Considering all parties involved, will Victor Cassadine join the ranks of the undead?
