At the hospital, Portia revealed that Curtis was the father. Trina happily hugged her dad, but Isaiah looked devastated.

Curtis immediately wanted to hash out a parenting schedule and approached Portia about it privately. He said that with custody already decided, they could focus on parenting and not fighting one another.

Portia agreed to joint custody; Curtis said he’d have the paperwork drawn up and sent to her. “So you’ll handle Aunt Stella then?” Portia asked.

Trina’s Conflicted Feelings

Trina met with Ava and told her about the paternity results. She said that although she and her sibling would have the same parents, she still wasn’t happy.

Trina said she loved her mom, and she wanted to get past everything and trust her mom again, but she didn’t know how.

Ava advised that in any relationship, both people need to take a chance that they might get hurt. She noted that she’s deeply flawed, but Trina took a chance on her.

Ava said that Portia made mistakes, but she’s human. She added that she’s also her mother and would walk through fire for her.

Noting that the only other option was to walk away, Ava warned Trina that she needed to really think it through and be sure before taking such a step.

Ava said she spoke from experience because by the time she wanted to reunite with her daughter, it was too late.

Trina pointed out that everything would be different with Isaiah, Jordan, and a baby in her family dynamic. Ava agreed but reminded her that she would have the power to decide how things would move forward with her mom.

While Chase and Brook Lynn babysat BailyLou, he mentioned having a baby. Brook Lynn said she was just getting on track with Gio and wanted to focus on that for a while first.

A little later, Gio dropped by and asked Brook Lynn if he could hang out with her. He told her about Emma leaving, and was concerned that she’d move back to San Francisco.

Brook Lynn understood but thought it was too soon to worry. Gio said all the things he loved about Emma, and Brook Lynn agreed she was a catch. But she also thought Gio was, and said if needed, he’d fly to San Francisco and remind her why they were so good together. Gio seemed happy to know that Brook Lynn approved of them and like Emma so much.

Brook Lynn watched Gio with Bailey Lu and noted that she used to babysit him sometimes at that age. Gio didn’t realize that, but they were both happy to have those memories.

Gio smiled warmly as he told Brook Lynn that he used to think how lucky he was to have such a cool cousin. “Turns out that cool cousin’s my mom,” he grinned.

Dante asked Jordan to come see him and told her that Laura asked to step into Anna’s position. Jordan understood and said it was much different than being a detective.

Jordan discussed the cons of the job with Dante, but then noted that he’s a natural-born leader.

Good Cop, Bad Cop

Chase summoned Dante in his new uniform. “After all these years of working together, look at us now: police commissioner and patrolman,” Chase griped.

Dante said that Chase was still a good cop. He said the only thing hew as concerned about was Chase’s ability to take orders from him.

Dante reiterated that he couldn’t do any more private investigations. Chase had a flashback to Michael’s keys as Dante said if there was evidence to be found, it would be up to Mac to find it, not him.
Dante said he wouldn’t interfere in Michael’s case and wanted assurance from Chase that he would do the same.

Chase gave his word, and they shook on it. Dante told Chase to have a good shift and stay safe.

When Isaiah came out of the hospital shower, Portia was waiting for him in the change room. Portia said that she didn’t know until she opened the results how much she wanted the baby to be his.

Isaiah assured Portia he could still love the child just because it was hers. He told her that his life was better with her in it. “So I’d love to stick around, if you’d give me the chance,” he said. Portia welled up and kissed him.

Portia told Isaiah about her agreement with Curtis. He asked if she was okay with Jordan being involved, but she was optimistic.

Portia didn’t count on Jordan and Curtis’ relationship lasting because he had unrealistic demands. She was sure they would implode just like last time.

Curtis went to Jordan’s and told him he was going to be a father again. He shared his joy at the news and said he couldn’t wait to share everything with her.
Curtis told Jordan that Portia took the news surprisingly well. Both of them were happy that they could finally proceed with their lives together with nothing hanging over their heads or holding them back.

Nathan came to Lulu’s to ask her for help with the PTA at James’ school but they inevitably talked about their feelings. Both admitted they’d confided in someone about it.

Lulu shared that Laura encouraged her to date Nathan, but to take it slow. Nathan said that Nina told him to follow his heart.

Lulu said that her dad would say, “Well, Cupcake, what would you do if you weren’t afraid?” Nathan repeated the questions, so she said she’d follow her heart.

Felicia took Georgie and James to see Maxie. James had some time alone with his mom and talked to her while sitting at her bedside about Valentine’s Day and told her she was the one he loved the most.

Georgie had some alone time with her mom and cried to her to come back to them. The kids waited in the hall while Felicia went in to see Maxie.

Crying, Felicia sat by her side and held Maxie’s hand as she told her about her children’s lives.

Later, when Felicia came out to the hall, Georgie wanted to go to the bookstore, but James wanted to go skating.

“James Malcom West! You are not going to the ice rink without a helmet!” they heard someone say. They all turned to see Maxie in the doorway of her hospital room.
