Lucas ran into Britt — literally — on the stairs at the hospital. They agreed to a truce for the holiday. She was bitter that she had a family dinner but got called in to work. Lucas said he volunteered so that another doctor could spend Christmas with his family. “Of course you did,” Britt said with an eyeroll as she kept walking.

Later at the nurses’ station, Britt told Lucas that she’d been invited to Maxie’s and felt like she was missing out. However, she noted that without her being there, her mom could just relax with Nathan and James.

Later, Britt came to the nurses’ station, and Lucas told her that she’d left her phone there. She picked up and was thrilled to realize she’d had gotten a message that her medical license had been reinstated. Lucas said his letter must have done the trick. “Oh, I don’t care how it happened. I’m a doctor again! Merry Christmas to me!” Britt exclaimed.

At Carly’s, Brennan told Carly that he understood that she wanted to spend Christmas at Sonny’s for Donna and Gio’s sake, rather than make plans with him.

Upstairs, Valentin was trimming a little tree when Donna put her hand on the doorknob to come into the room. She opened the door and saw the tree lit up and gasped, “Santa!” before running to tell her mom.

In the kitchen, Donna told Carly that Santa left a Christmas tree in the attic and wanted her to come see. Carly told Donna she knew she wasn’t allowed in the attic at Christmastime. Donna said she needed a ribbon for her dad’s present.

Just then, Kristina came in and said that Donna called her for a ribbon. Brennan made a quick exit, but once outside, made a phone call asking if they were ready to pull the plug on Britt, and to make it swift.

Inside, Carly went up to see Valentin and assured him that she thought he was still safe. He said it was his first Christmas without Charlotte, and although he knew Carly didn’t want him there, he was grateful that she let him stay.

Marshall canceled some Christmas tour dates to come home as his family needed him. He came to Curtis’ and hugged him. Curtis lamented that Portia had lied to the family again.

Curtis brooded, then told Marshall and Stella that he wanted to ensure Trina had a good family Christmas despite his pain. He said he needed their help to stay focused.

Trina and Kai walked in, and she was pleasantly surprised to see her grandad. Later, Stella found her looking out the window and listened as she cried about Portia. Trina said that her mom didn’t get to ruin their holiday, though. Stella agreed and left to make some eggnog.

There was a knock at the door, and Trina offered to get it. It was Jordan, and Trina smiled when she saw her. Jordan thanked Trina for inviting her. As they entered the room, Trina apologized to Jordan in front of everyone for how hard she’d been on her. She also apologized to her dad for accusing him of cheating.

Trina got a message from Ava, and admitted to Kai she thought it would be Portia. She didn’t want to hear from her, but was surprised she hadn’t. Kai said that silence might be Portia’s gift to her.

Later, Curtis agreed to play the clarinet if Trina sang with him. They performed Silent Night in the living room.

At the hospital, Portia was getting some things from her office as she’d been suspended. She saw the look on Elizabeth’s face, she told her that she hoped to be back soon, and realized she was kidding herself.

Elizabeth offered for Portia to come over and spend Christmas with her. Portia said Ava also offered, but she thought she should use the time to do some self-reflection.

As Portia packed her stuff, Isaiah showed up. She apologized to him for making their relationship public, when that was something he didn’t want to happen. Isaiah reminded her that neither of them set out to hurt anyone, and still hoped she was pregnant with his child. Isaiah wanted to spend Christmas together.

When Portia was ready to go, she and Isaiah emerged from her office. She looked at Elizabeth and Lucas before clasping hands with Isaiah, and they walked out together holding hands as he carried her box of belongings.

Down the hall, Liesl had sent Britt a photo of her and Nathan the Scorpios. Britt replied, “Merry Christmas, Mutter. I got my license back!” Behind her, Jack Brennan walked in.

At Sonny’s, Gio, Rocco, Lulu, and Charlotte came over for dinner. When Dante arrived, he got a warm welcome from Lulu and Gio, but Rocco would barely look at him. Dante suggested to Sonny that he leave, but he told him to let Rocco be upset and work through his feelings.

Rocco told his brother that he was angry at his dad for being so hard on Gio, but he asked Rocco to cut Dante a break. Charlotte gave him the same advice.

Gio told Sonny that he was going to go to the Scorpios — not because of Dante, but because Emma had invited him. Kristina and Donna came over, and he was glad to see Donna before he left. Dante overheard Donna ask if Emma was his girlfriend, and he said that she was.

Before Gio left, Donna asked if Gio would play Christmas carols for them on his violin the next day. Gio told her that he didn’t have a new violin yet; Donna suggested Santa could bring him one.

After Gio left, Carly arrived. Donna told her that she’d just missed Gio and that he didn’t have a violin to play the next day. Carly told Sonny she was surprised he hadn’t bought Gio a Stratavarius yet. Sonny told her that he and Ned bought a violin together, and were just waiting for a sign that Gio was ready for it.

When everyone else was distracted, Carly spotted Charlotte pull out the key on a ribbon and look at it.

Brook Lynn and Chase went to the Scorpios’ house for Christmas Eve. Mac welcomed them, but when Chase tried to approach him in the kitchen, Mac snapped, “Not tonight. Tonight is about the kids.”

James was having a fun night, talking about a new saddle he was getting and looking forward to a FaceTime with Sasha and Robert. Nathan told Liesl that he wished Britt could have been there, too.

James wondered if Cody and Nathan were disappointed in him for not going to see his mom with Spinelli. They both assured him that she, out of anyone, would want him to enjoy the holiday and not miss out on seeing Santa. Nathan offered to take James to his mom next week instead.

Cody was going to leave to pick up James’ gift but when James saw him with his coat on, he made him promise not to leave. Cody called Molly instead and asked for a favor.

When Gio arrived, Emma gave him a didgeridoo. She thought it might be a fun way for him to play music again, and offered to teach him how to play it. Molly arrived, and told Cody that his package was in her car. Felicia brought Molly in to warm her up.

At Sonny’s, Carly remembered she’d forgotten a nativity set she wanted to bring over and asked Charlotte to go with her. She to everyone that it was fragile and hoped Charlotte could carry it on her lap on the drive back. Charlotte agreed, and Carly brought her home and up to her attic. There, she had a heartwarming reunion with her father.
