General Hospital Recap April 23: Willow Blackmails Brennan, Drew Signals SOS, Ethan Wants To Take Out Sidwell
TL;DR: In today’s General Hospital recap, Congresswoman Willow Cain blackmails Jack Brennan to protect Drew, who uses blinking to signal a desperate SOS to Elizabeth. Ethan Lovett offers to get rid of Sidwell for Tracy.
General Hospital Recap April 23

In New York, Gio and Emma explored the city. He took her to the theater and introduced her to Jerry at the door, then they went in for a backstage tour of Aladdin.
When they got to the stage, Michael James Scott, who plays Genie, came out of the secret door in the floor and surprised them. They ran off with him to see other people that Gio knew.
When Michael went to get his makeup on, Gio took Emma to see the orchestra pit, thrilled that she wanted to see where he used to sit. He told her how magical it was to be part of the production, and then the curtain call came, so they left to take their seats after a few kisses.
Drew Gets Through to Elizabeth

At Drew’s, Nina hated being stuck there with him and told him how unsettling he was to be around. She told him to stop blinking because she knew everything, and she wasn’t going to save him.
Elizabeth came by and offered to spend time with Drew if Nina wanted a break. She went to the other room to make some Crimson calls.
Alone, Drew tried blinking to communicate. She figured out that he was saying SOS, but couldn’t figure out why.
As Elizabeth was telling Drew that she’d tell Willow, Nina returned and wanted to know what they were talking about.
Nina glared at Drew when Elizabeth told her that Drew was trying to tell her something. Kai showed up, and Elizabeth repeated the news.
Liz told Nina that she worked with people in Drew’s condition, but had never experienced what he was doing. She said she’d tell Willow about the options to help him communicate.
Kai listened intently and asked some questions. Nina seethed through gritted teeth that Willow would be so excited when she heard.
Willow Threatens Jack Brennan

At her office, Willow told Kai how invaluable he’d become to her at work and at home with the kids.
Brennan was her last meeting of the day, and she set the tone when she corrected her title as Congresswoman Cain as he walked in the door.
Willow told Jack that they could either help one another or cause irreparable harm. Willow explained that she was on the board to decide whether or not the WSB got funding.
Willow warned Jack that if he didn’t give her evidence against Drew and get rid of the footage of her driving on his street, she’d withhold funding and would tell his superiors it was because of his harassment.
Jack said he didn’t know she had this in her and wouldn’t make that mistake again.
“So you still have it out for your husband. Wasn’t it enough that you shot him?” Jack asked. He said he’d see what he could dig up, but wondered why she’d want leverage on a man who could never walk or talk again. “What I do with that information is my business, not yours,” Willow said curtly.
Ric Asks Alexis About Ethan

Ric came to Alexis’ office to ask what she knew about Ethan Lovett. Alexis said she liked him, and he was more trustworthy than Ric.
Alexis told Ric about Kiefer, and after everything Ethan went through, he forgave Kristina. For that, he had a place in Alexis’ heart, and she told Ric that he was someone who could be counted on.
Ric was still convinced that Sonny was in a vulnerable position, but Alexis thought it was more about Ric.
Alexis said that Ric’s problem was that nothing was ever good enough for him because he never thought he was good enough. She added that was why he tried to control everything.
“You can’t control Sonny, so just stop,” Alexis pleaded. Ric said after all these years, she really did know him.
Kristina Gives Her Two Cents

Sonny and Kristina met up, and she told him how much she didn’t like that he was working with Ric. She said she didn’t trust him and didn’t think Sonny should, either.
Kristina was okay with Sonny giving Ethan a chance, but Sonny said being Luke’s son was the only reason he got through the door. After that, he needed to prove himself.
Meanwhile, Michael and Jacinda woke up together and talked about her working with Brennan to protect Michael with Willow. But he wanted her to do nothing with Brennan.
Later, they saw Kristina, who told them that Ethan was back in town and working for Sonny. Kristina asked Jacinda to come back for another open mic night.
Tracy Reunites With Ethan

Tracy went to meet Lulu for lunch, but instead, Ethan was waiting for her. As they caught up, he told her he was working for Sonny.
As they talked, Ava and Sidwell came in behind them, and both recognized Ethan. Ava couldn’t quite place him, though, until Sidwell told her he was Holly’s son and that she’d stolen from him.
Sidwell warned Ava that he never forgives and seeks revenge on anyone who crosses him. They decided that one thing they have in common is their respect for loyalty.
Ethan Offers His Help

Back at Tracy and Ethan’s table, they weren’t impressed when Jenz sent over drinks. Tracy showed her disdain for Sidwell, and Ethan agreed, noting that he tried to kill his mother, Sasha, and Lucky.
Tracy balked when Ethan went to stand up. He said he was just going to go talk to him and not to try to stop him. “Oh, I wasn’t going to. I was going to offer backup,” she smiled. They gladly returned the drinks and resumed enjoying their lunch.
Tracy explained to Ethan that Sidwell had gotten his claws into her company and she couldn’t stand it. When she added that it was too complicated for her to just buy back Jenz’s stake, Ethan offered to take care of him.
Tracy thought he was out of his league, but Ethan assured her he’d learned ways to deal with someone like Sidwell. Tracy told him that one of the hardest things she had to do was grieve Luke, and she couldn’t grieve him as well.
“I make no promises,” Ethan said as they hugged. “Your father never did either,” she told him.
