General Hospital: Carlo Rota is Deliciously Evil as Jenz Sidwell
Port Charles has seen its fair share of mobsters, sociopaths, and baddies over the decades. But Jenz Sidwell? He is an entirely different animal.
Carlo Rota as Jenz Sidwell on General Hospital

On General Hospital, Jenz Sidwell (Carlo Rota) is systematically dismantling Sonny Corinthos’ (Maurice Benard) power in Port Charles. He isn’t playing by the unwritten rules of the five families; he’s rewriting the rulebook — in calligraphy.
Sidwell has weaponized the public, the law, and former allies against anyone who stands in his way. He’s proving that the most dangerous criminal isn’t the one with the biggest gun, but the one with the best strategy.
And then, there is the voice.
Casting Carlo Rota as Jenz Sidwell was a stroke of brilliance that deserves an Emmy on its own. Rota possesses a baritone dripping with international intrigue — cultured, precise, and laced with a velvet menace that makes every threat sound like a seduction.
Sidwell represents a return to the classic, sophisticated villainy that General Hospital does best. He’s not a thug in a leather jacket; he’s a Bond villain who has a dramatic flourish to make the audience, as he does something heinous. He shot Dalton in such cold blood that Britt is still traumatized. Yet Sidwell’s grandiose style of arm waving and swaying as he reminded her she could be next was beyond entertaining.
Do we want Laura framed and blackmailed for Dalton’s murder, and her only way out to take down Sonny? Of course not. But as much of a menace as Sidwell is in Port Charles, we admit we’re entertained. Kudos to Rota for bringing theatrical and dramatic flair to such a cunning and formidable villain.
