Days of our Lives: Who Was Behind Dimitri’s Alamanian Vacation?

On Days of our Lives, much to Leo’s shock and Javi’s horror, Dimitri Von Leuschner is back in Salem, sporting undeniable symmetry and an even more questionable story. He crashed Leo and Javi’s wedding with a tale of woe, claiming he never ran out on Leo — he was kidnapped, dragged to Alamania, and held captive. But if this story is true, who actually put him there?

Who Kidnapped Dimitri on Days of our Lives

On Days of our Lives, Dimitri Von Leuschner (Peter Porte) is pointing a perfectly manicured finger squarely at his estranged wife, Gwen Rizczech (Emily O’Brien), as the mastermind behind his disappearance and captivity. And let’s be honest, it tracks.

Gwen had the motive (read: humiliation, jealousy, and greed) and the moral flexibility to carry off such a feat. She knew losing Dimitri to Leo meant losing the Von Leuschner fortune, so stashing him away while she spent his inheritance would be considered a classic Gwen maneuver.

Unlike other villains, Gwen has compassion when convenient, and we could easily see her reasoning to herself that Dimitri’s imprisonment was, at least, in a luxury mansion with servants, and not nearly as bad as it could’ve been.

The Vivian Factor

Dimitri claims he was held in Alamania. That is not just a random country on the map; that is the personal fiefdom of Vivian Alamain (Louise Sorel). Are we really supposed to believe that Gwen — a woman who struggles to pay her own tab at the Brady Pub — has the connections to orchestrate a high-level kidnapping in Madame Alamain’s backyard without permission?

If Gwen was behind Dimitri’s disappearing act, she likely outsourced it. Gwen may have signed the check (using Dimitri’s own money, naturally), but Vivian is the landlord of that prison cell.

The only stumbling block we have here is that Dimitri wasn’t tormented in any way. Instead, he was living in the lap of luxury — just without contact with anyone he knew.

If Vivian were involved, you would think she would have made at least one visit to her captor or ordered someone else to make it less comfortable.
