Days of our Lives Weekly Recap July 27–31: EJ’s Empire Cracks as Leo Searches for Gwen and Lexie’s Secret Ends in Tragedy

TL;DR: In this week’s Days of our Lives weekly recap for July 27–31, 2026, Leo launched a desperate search for Gwen, EJ’s schemes spiraled out of control, Joy and Alex hit a co-parenting impasse, Gabi rescued Titan, and Lexie’s heartbreaking secret culminated in a devastating collapse.

Days of our Lives Weekly Recap July 27–31

After Gwen mysteriously vanished, Leo became convinced EJ was behind her disappearance. Cat helped him by recovering Gwen’s confession letter and turning it over to Rafe, giving investigators a new lead into EJ’s criminal activity. Leo ignored repeated warnings from Marlena, Rafe, Gus, and Javi that he was putting himself in danger and insisted on finding Gwen himself.

As Rafe investigated, the evidence became increasingly alarming. Gwen’s credit cards had not been used, her hotel key remained untouched, and her smashed phone was discovered near the airport, where only cargo flights had departed. Leo eventually obtained flight records and discovered a plane had traveled to Alamainia.

When Leo texted Dimitri for answers, the cryptic reply, “Turnabout is fair play,” convinced him Gwen was being held there. By week’s end, Chad arranged transportation aboard the DiMera jet, allowing Leo to head for Alamainia despite the obvious danger awaiting him — and protests from Javi not to go.

EJ’s Ruthless Decisions Leave Salem Reeling

While suspicion over Gwen mounted, EJ insisted he had nothing to do with her disappearance even as nearly everyone around him questioned his motives. Marlena confronted EJ over the growing trail of destruction surrounding him, warning that he was ruining lives and pulling Johnny toward Stefano’s legacy. Susan also arrived to perform a cleansing ritual on Stefano’s ring, begging EJ not to become the man his father had been.

Rather than changing course, EJ made an even darker decision. After a tense conversation with Kristen, he ordered her kidnapped. Rita later confirmed the job had been completed, and EJ admitted that although sending Kristen away saddened him, he believed exiling her to the island was the only answer after her actions against Johnny.

Joy and Alex Reach a Breaking Point

Joy and Alex’s attempts to establish a co-parenting agreement quickly fell apart. Justin prepared new legal documents that would formally include Kelsey in Alex’s estate planning, but Joy refused to sign unless Stephanie was legally prohibited from being around her daughter. Alex refused to accept those conditions, leaving both parents at a complete impasse.

Stephanie later attempted to make peace after Belle encouraged Joy to reconsider her fears. Instead, their conversation deteriorated into accusations that Joy wanted Alex for herself and that Stephanie remained unstable. Whatever progress Belle had made disappeared, and Joy firmly declared that Stephanie would never be allowed near Kelsey.

Gabi Saves Titan as Romance Complicates Everything

After accusing Philip and Xander of stealing her handbag designs, Gabi slowly realized she may have blamed the wrong people when Ari admitted she had misplaced the original prototype. The revelation opened the possibility that someone else had stolen the design entirely.

Determined to make things right, Gabi kept her promise to invest in Titan and transferred the money needed to save the struggling company. Philip, overwhelmed with relief, embraced her, and the celebration quickly turned into a kiss just as Alex walked in. Although Alex focused on Titan’s good news, Philip remained cautiously optimistic until the funds officially arrived.

Holly Receives Vindication While EJ Becomes the Prime Suspect

Sarah finally accepted that Holly had been telling the truth all along after evidence suggested the pills had been planted. She apologized sincerely, and Holly forgave both Sarah and Tate, allowing the young couple to reconcile after Tate admitted he never should have doubted her.

Meanwhile, Xander, Brady, and Sarah increasingly believed EJ had orchestrated Holly’s poisoning as a cover-up for his larger criminal activities. Although they agreed not to alert EJ that they suspected him, they quietly began working together to gather enough evidence to finally expose him.

Lexie Keeps a Heartbreaking Secret

Throughout the week, Lexie quietly prepared her loved ones for what she believed would be her final goodbye while hiding the truth about her worsening condition.

She surprised Theo and Abe with a family Christmas in the middle of summer so she could create one last holiday memory with them. Although she claimed she was leaving to visit Celeste, she was actually coordinating with Kristen while praying for just a little more time.

As Kristen’s emergency bracelet alerted her that the kidnapping had begun, Lexie tearfully said goodbye to Abe and Theo before rushing to the airport. There she located the shipping container holding Kristen captive but became too weak to rescue her. After struggling to stay on her feet, Lexie collapsed outside the container while Kristen desperately called for help from inside.

Brady Worries About Kristen While Belle and Chad Plan for Italy

Brady became increasingly concerned when Kristen abruptly disappeared after behaving as though she was saying goodbye to everyone she loved. Although Rachel later received a reassuring text, Brady couldn’t shake the feeling that something was terribly wrong.

Elsewhere, Belle and Chad revealed to Marlena that clues hidden within the mysterious chessboard had convinced them to travel to Italy. Marlena strongly opposed the dangerous journey but ultimately accepted that she could not stop them, extracting a promise that they would keep in touch throughout the trip.
