Days of our Lives Weekly Recap August 3-7

EJ and Rita discovered that Lexie had switched places with Kristen. Lexie explained that she had accepted that she was dying and wanted to spare Abe and Theo from watching her deteriorate. She asked EJ to send her to the island, but he decided to hide her instead.

Lexie later called home and pretended she had arrived in Johannesburg. She wrote goodbye letters to Abe and Theo and asked EJ to make peace with Kristen.

Paulina became suspicious of Lexie’s sudden trip to Africa because she had no return flight booked. Johnny also became concerned after learning that no one could reach Kristen.

Johnny confronted EJ about Kristen. EJ admitted that Kristen had given Sophia information that allowed her to try to kill him. He said Kristen blamed him for her imprisonment and for keeping her away from Rachel. EJ also admitted that he had planned to put Kristen on the island, but she escaped.

Kristen secretly returned to Rachel using Susan as a cover. She told Brady she was leaving because she believed she was putting everyone in danger. Kristen asked Brady to take care of Rachel and said she would return when the danger had passed.

Xander and Sarah Nearly Kiss

Philip locked Xander and Sarah in the wine cellar after sending them downstairs to get wine. While trapped, they talked about Holly and EJ and shared champagne.

A mouse startled Sarah, causing her to jump into Xander’s lap. They were about to kiss when Philip opened the door.

Xander told Marlena that he believed he and Sarah could reunite. Marlena cautioned him that their chemistry didn’t mean Sarah was ready to resume their relationship. She reminded him that he needed to continue working on his anger issues.

Xander said he would concentrate on being a good co-parent while he continued working on himself. Philip remained convinced that Xander and Sarah belonged together.

Joy Is Hospitalized

Joy told Alex she planned to return to New York after her latest argument with Stephanie. Alex threatened to take her to court over Kelsey before backing down. Joy said she would stay only if Stephanie stopped confronting her.

Alex blamed Stephanie for the situation and told her that Joy could leave with Kelsey because there was no parenting agreement.

On Friday, Joy experienced severe pain after trying to lift the baby seat. Javi called Rafe, who called 911. At the hospital, Kayla discovered that Joy had spinal swelling. She gave Joy an epidural to reduce the numbness and said surgery remained a possibility.

Alex brought Kelsey to see Joy and agreed to take care of her while Joy remained hospitalized.

EJ Calls Xander and Philip’s Loan

Gabi confronted EJ about the counterfeit handbag operation and said she was looking for evidence that DiMera was involved. EJ also learned that Gabi had gained a seat on the board.

Xander and Philip had used Gabi’s money to pay their Titan loan for the next year. EJ learned where the money came from and called the loan.

By Friday, Xander, Philip, and Gabi learned they needed another $200 million to pay the loan. Gabi offered to invest what she had left, but it wouldn’t be enough or arrive quickly enough.

Leo and Gwen Remain Trapped

Javi wanted to go to Alamainia after becoming concerned about Leo. Gus gave him permission to go, but Rafe later advised him to stay away. Leo found Gwen at the Alamain mansion, but Dimitri revealed that he had deliberately lured Leo there. He planned to keep both Leo and Gwen captive.

Leo and Gwen attempted to trick Dimitri into letting them escape by pretending Leo had appendicitis. Dimitri saw through the plan and locked them back in the room.
