Days of Our Lives Weekly Recap August 17-21: Lexie Says Goodbye, Chanel Welcomes Her Baby

TL;DR: In this week’s Days of Our Lives recap for August 17th to 21st, 2026, Lexie’s final days brought Abe, Theo, and EJ together at the hospital, while Chanel went into labor and welcomed a baby girl at the same time Lexie passed. Theo learned that Johnny knew Lexie was alive and confronted him over keeping the secret. Gwen returned to Salem and reunited with Leo, while Gus realized Javi still loved Leo and walked away. Gabi ultimately gave Philip $5 million to try to save Titan, Roman invited Kate back to live at the pub, and Joy continued making things difficult for Stephanie and Alex.

Chanel went into labor while Lexie was being brought to the hospital. Because Chanel’s blood count was low, Kayla ordered a transfusion, and Chanel worried about what the procedure might mean for her baby.

The situation became more frightening when Chanel began bleeding. Kayla was able to stop the bleeding, but a C-section was considered too dangerous because of the risk of hemorrhaging. Instead, Kayla increased the medication to induce labor.

Chanel eventually gave birth to a baby girl while Lexie was spending her final moments with Abe, Theo, and EJ.

Lexie Said Her Final Goodbyes

Abe and Theo found Lexie alive in the DiMera tunnels, but Kayla quickly determined that the effects of Dr. Rolf’s drug were wearing off and Lexie’s body was shutting down. She was given a blood transfusion to buy more time, but they could not stop what was happening. 

Lexie explained to Theo that EJ had wanted to tell them about her condition, but she had made him promise not to. Lexie insisted that Theo should not blame EJ because keeping her condition secret had been her dying wish.

Theo was furious with Johnny after learning that he had known Lexie was alive and dying. He accused Johnny of denying Abe and Theo time with Lexie that they would never get back and told him he was just like EJ. 

Lexie said goodbye to EJ and told him she was grateful for the extra time he had given her. As a dying wish, she asked him to stop fighting with Kristen and become a better man. EJ promised he would try.

Kayla told Abe, Theo, and EJ that it was time to say their goodbyes. EJ told Lexie he loved her, Abe reminisced about their life together, while Theo told his mother she was his superhero. Lexie sang a lullaby to Theo as she died, while Johnny sang the same lullaby to his newborn daughter in the next room.

Gwen and Leo Reunite After Alamainia

Gwen returned to Salem after refusing Rafe’s offer to cooperate against EJ. She didn’t trust that the police or courts could protect her from the DiMeras and refused to incriminate herself without guarantees. Leo eventually returned home, and Gwen apologized for leaving him behind. They reaffirmed their friendship, apologized for the Dimitri love triangle, and agreed to leave that chapter behind.

Leo’s return created a problem for Javi and Gus. Javi immediately rushed to Leo when he spotted him, confirming Gus’s fears that Javi still had feelings for his former husband. Gus told Javi that he couldn’t remain in their relationship while Javi was still in love with Leo and announced that he was leaving.

Gabi Gives Philip $5 Million to Save Titan

Philip needed $5 million to gamble in a poker game that had enough of a jackpot to save Titan, but Gabi initially refused to give him the money because she knew about his gambling addiction. Philip argued that the poker game was about saving Titan and protecting Salem from EJ, not feeding his addiction.

After watching Philip struggle with the collapse of Titan and the sale of the Kiriakis mansion, Gabi changed her mind. She gave Philip the money and told him to try to save the company.

Meanwhile, Xander and Sarah faced losing the Kiriakis mansion. Xander accepted an offer on the property after Maggie agreed that selling was preferable to allowing EJ to take control. Sarah also considered Brady’s offer for her and Victoria to move in with him.

Alex and Stephanie’s Relationship Takes Another Hit

Joy’s doctors determined that she needed back surgery and warned that the worst-case scenario could involve paralysis. When Alex comforted Joy, Stephanie saw them hugging and walked off; later, Alex walked away angrily after spotting her with her head on Theo’s shoulder. Stephanie also admitted to Chad that she sometimes missed the old Alex, before fatherhood changed his priorities.

Roman and Kate Consider Their Future

Roman invited Kate to move back into the pub after the Kiriakis mansion went up for sale. Kate initially thought Roman was simply enjoying proving her right about the mansion, but he assured her he genuinely wanted her back. Kate accepted and returned to the pub, hoping the arrangement might give them another chance to repair their marriage.

Holly Suspects EJ Is Behind the Coriseal Mystery

Holly told Tate that Sarah believed DiMera Pharma had tainted the Coriseal and that someone from the company had planted pills in her bag. Tate also suspected EJ, but they agreed they needed proof before confronting him. Holly also remained uneasy about Gwen’s relationship with Tate after watching them reconnect, although Tate assured her that Holly was the person he wanted.
