Days of our Lives Recap December 2nd

At Bayview, Rachel begged Brady not to leave her there. He explained that she needed to stay and get taken care of. Rachel asked if Marlena would visit her. Brady explained that Marlena was still in the hospital, but thought that Rachel was in the right place. But Rachel didn’t believe him.
Rachel thought the place was horrible and that neither her grandmother nor her mom would want her there. Rachel wanted to tell her mom that she was innocent after all, but Brady said Kristen knew. Brady told Rachel that when he was her age, his dad would go away for long periods of time, and John would give him his baseball to hold onto. John told him it would remind him how much he loved him, and if he was sad or scared, he could squeeze it like he was holding his hand. He gave the ball to Rachel to do the same.
As Rachel was crying, wondering what would happen if she didn’t get better, a nurse came in and said it was time for Brady to go. He soothed Rachel and told her that he would visit as soon as they let him, as would Tate. When he stood to leave, Rachel told him she was sorry for what she had done and begged him not to go and to take her home. Out in the hall, Brady stopped. He leaned against the wall, crying, as he heard Rachel screaming, begging him not to leave and to come back.
At EJ’s office, Cat learned that Jennifer was trying to take Chad’s kids. EJ told her that no one seemed to be able to reach him since he left to give Thomas some space. Not showing up for Thanksgiving seemed really out of character, so Cat wondered if something had happened to him, the same way Tony was missing.
EJ thought that if he reported him missing and he was really just taking a cooling-off period, it could affect his custody case. Cat said that made sense, but after she left, she called Rafe and said to meet her as they had an issue.
Cat and Rafe “bumped into one another” outside of the pub, and Cat told him about her theory that Chad was missing. They investigated his hotel room and noted that he hadn’t slept there or been seen since he checked in. Cat and Rafe agreed they had to consider them all connected. Cat asked what all the missing people had in common. “Outside of Dimitri, everyone’s father is Stefano DiMera,” Rafe told her.
Rafe noted that Dimitri, Stefan, and Megan had all been missing for quite some time. They wondered if Chad’s disappearance was related to that, or Tony’s disappearance, or Kristen’s escape from prison. Rafe said that they searched the manor, and Kristen’s mother said she hadn’t heard from her. Cat hoped they were wrong and Chad was just clearing his head somewhere. Rafe said that at that point, they had to consider Chad missing, and that it was possible EJ was behind it.
Leo and Javi ran into Gwen on their way to have Javi’s ring adjusted. Gwen was taken aback when she found out about their engagement, but wished them well in a long tribute. Leo mocked her for her lack of sincerity.
After getting the ring taken care of, Leo was excited to tackle the wedding plans. He went over details that he’d already thought of, and suggested that they ask Marlena to be the officiant. Javi loved the idea, but as they kissed in the square, Gwen lurked in the background, staring ominously. Leo suggested a New Year’s Eve wedding. When Javi agreed, he happily yelled it out, and, of course, Gwen heard.
At the hospital, Kayla told Marlenea that the test results were wrong and that she really did have Lyme disease. Kayla was confident that the antibiotics she’d already been taking would help. Marlena was more concerned about Rachel. Marlena lamented that she’d kept it a secret from Brady and wondered if the Lyme disease or her grief was clouding her judgment. She felt that she’d failed Rachel, and now her granddaughter had to pay the price.
Meanwhile, Belle brought Paulina up to date about Rachel and Kristen. Paulina worried that EJ would have an issue with Belle keeping things on the down low and keeping Rachel out of jail. Belle noted that EJ had known since August and was abiding by Kristen’s wishes. Afterwards, Belle saw Kayla at the hospital, who updated her on the Lyme disease prognosis, and Marlena’s concern about Rachel. EJ strolled up, and Belle was extra frosty as she walked away. When EJ commented to Kayla that Belle wasn’t happy to see him, Kayla noted that Marlena almost died because of him.
Kayla went off on EJ about the cutbacks, understaffing, and unpaid staff, saying they were costing patients their lives. EJ sarcastically said that he’d find more money but might have to take it from Kayla’s salary. Kayla suggested that he take it from the mystery lab in the free clinic.
Belle went to EJ’s office and told him she knew what Rachel had done. EJ realized that Rachel remembered the night of the shooting and that it must be upsetting for her. Belle blasted him, saying that Kristen went to prison for nothing, as Johnny was going to be acquitted anyway. EJ asked what she wanted from him or expected him to do about it.
Belle wanted EJ to assure her that EJ wouldn’t do anything to interfere with Rachel’s care and healing. She threatened to come after him for what happened to her mother if he did.
After Belle stormed out, EJ picked up the copy of Wuthering Heights that was on his desk. He recalled hearing a woman’s voice reading it out loud and realized he recognized it. “Why do I know that voice?” he asked himself.
Brady went to see Marlena and said he didn’t know where else to go after moving Rachel into Bayview. He growled that his heart was torn out. Marlena emotionally empathized with Brady. He told her it was particularly hard when Rachel asked why she couldn’t just come home and let Marlena treat her.
“I didn’t have the heart to tell her that you had let her down when you made this reckless decision that could have cost Sarah her life and maybe even unraveled Rachel’s completely,” Brady told Marlena.
Brady told Marlena that he loved her and didn’t like seeing her in pain, but thought it would be better if she just focused on her own health. Brady told her that he wouldn’t prevent her from seeing Rachel, as he didn’t want to punish his daughter, but he didn’t want Marlena talking to her doctors or advising anyone on her health. “I don’t want you involved in her care,” he seethed before leaving. Marlena was devastated.
At Bayview, Rachel sat on her bed, crying. Sophia walked into her room. “Hey…I know you,” Rachel said. Slowly, a somber Sophia had a smile wash over her face. “Hi Rachel,” she said happily.
