Days of our Lives Recap September 4

In the square, Leo excitedly told Gabi he used a fake account on the dark web to buy her bags so he could find out who the source was. He said there was just one little problem: he needed money to buy them. Gabi said she’d fund his project. Leo said that he thought EJ was behind it and wanted to get someone close to him to help dig up some dirt.

Tate Comforts Holly

Holly watched Tate work out at the gym until he noticed her. She said she needed to see him right away instead of waiting until they were supposed to meet later. She told him about her mugging and how the man had a knife.

Holly was still traumatized but glad it was over and was grateful that Lani was there. Tate asked about other witnesses, so she told him about Mason and what a jerk she thought he was. Holly said she didn’t even know him, but he had some problems with him. Tate offered to teach him how to treat women, then they steamed up the shower together.

Chanel Confronts Johnny

Chanel wasn’t overjoyed when a baby gift from EJ was delivered. Johnny reminded her that after the trial they talked about having a relationship with EJ, and Chanel had said she was okay with it. Chanel told him the relationship was supposed to have boundaries, but instead, they were close, and now she didn’t know if she could trust Johnny.

Chanel was dubious when Johnny insisted that he would always be there for her and their family. Later, Chanel opened the gift from EJ; it was an engraved silver cup like Trey’s. Chanel appreciated that EJ treated them equally, although one wasn’t biologically related. Johnny explained that Stefano believed that family extended beyond blood, and all of his family were bonded regardless of biology.

“Bonded by what? What makes a true DiMera?” Chanel asked him. Johnny didn’t know how to answer it, or how it was any different than being a Carver or Dupree. He said morals and loyalty were shared in a family, but insisted that Chanel was his family. Chanel worried that Johnny was torn between his loyalties, but Johnny insisted that it wasn’t true and his loyalties would always remain with her.

EJ Surprises Chad and Belle

At the airport, EJ told Belle and Chad he was taking the same flight so he could visit Sydney. Chad told him he could have given a heads-up but thanked him for the champagne. EJ didn’t know what he was talking about; Belle spat out her drink.

Chad inspected the bottle and saw the label had been changed from Dom to D.O.M. They realized there was a hotel in Rome with the same name, so Belle changed their reservations to stay there instead. When Belle and Chad didn’t want to share what they were talking about, EJ said no one knew Stefano better than him and suggested they let him in to help. Belle and Chad reluctantly told EJ about the clues and what they were chasing.

Someone Watches EJ, Belle, and Chad

EJ stepped out and called Rita. He told her that he was going to Italy but didn’t say why. He asked her if he left his ring from his father on the coffee table, but Rita said she didn’t see it. She offered to ask the staff to keep an eye out for it, and EJ asked her to notify him as soon as it was found.

After Rita hung up, she picked up the ring off the table, looked at the portrait of Stefano, and put the ring in her pocket. When EJ returned, he told Chad and Belle it was time to head out. Belle suggested they toss the champagne first.

Meanwhile, a man with a champagne glass next to a framed photo of Stefano, poured himself a glass of bubbly. He moved a pawn on a chessboard and watched Belle, EJ, and Chad at the airport through a camera linked to his tablet.
