Days of our Lives Recap May 8: Lexie Makes An Entrance, Gabi’s Big Reveal, Marlena’s Gift From Stefano
TL;DR: In today’s Days of our Lives recap, the DiMera family gathered for Stefano’s will reading, which was full of surprises. Marlena faced off against Kristen, Leo spotted Cat in the tunnels and figured out she’s ISA, Gabi made a shocking claim on the estate as Stefan’s widow, and the biggest twist of all: Lexie walked in alive.
Days of our Lives Recap May 8

At the DiMera mansion, everyone gathered for Stefano’s will reading. Theo practiced his speech as Cat greeted Chad and then went to the garden. Tony told Anna that it was important for the passing of the torch, although she didn’t know if passing along any of it was a good thing.
Tony got Theo alone to ask why he resigned from DiMera. Theo said Johnny was doing a fine job, but Tony barked that if he wanted Johnny to be CEO, he would have given him the role first. Tony asked what EJ lorded over Theo’s head to get him to step down.
Abe interrupted, told Theo how proud he was of him, and said that Lexie was watching and would be proud of the man he had become as well.
EJ Meets With Rita

Rita and EJ met in Lexie’s room in the tunnel. She told him that the only person who knew what was in the codicil was Dr. Rolf, and hoped he hadn’t convinced Stefano to leave everything to him. EJ assured her that Rolf wouldn’t be attending, as he was still wanted for questioning for hiring Owen.
Looking at Lexie, Rita wondered what EJ would do if the product didn’t work. He said they would keep going and try again. EJ got a call letting him know that a charter plane from Alamainia just arrived at the airport.
Marlena Tells Off Kristen

Marlena ran into Kristen in the square and told her she’d just seen Rachel, who was happy to see her. “How dare you try to keep me from her,” Marlena seethed. She hoped she inherited Brady and John’s traits and not the evil in Kristen’s side of the family.
Soon they were sparring about whose family members were worse. In the end, Marlena told Kristen that she was so desperate for a child that Stefano paid Susan to put one in her arms and pretend it was her own. “That was you. And all the lies and everything EJ did was because of you,” Marlena said. “Are we done?” Kristen asked. “I think we are,” Marlena triumphed.
Kristen said she had to get to her father’s will reading and challenged Marlena to come, but she said she wasn’t interested, even to find out what gift he’d left for her and John. Kristen told Marlena she was scared to go on her own without John, rubbing it in that even after his death, she was afraid of Stefano.
Leo Spots A Secret Door

Cat was picking roses when she spotted Leo in the garden, spying on the mansion with binoculars. Cat tried to chase him away on behalf of Chad, but Leo noted that she always put his needs first.
Cat told Leo she didn’t have time for him as she had to get back to work. When she left, Rita appeared from a tunnel door, and he hid from her.
EJ Gets An Airport Update

Cat went to the living room and was putting the flowers in a vase when EJ came in from the tunnels with two bottles of wine, claiming to have been in the cellar to get them.
Cat offered to open them to let them breathe, as Chad started to walk in but overheard them talking about having dinner together and then walked away.
EJ and the guests gathered in the living room as Kristen came home. Chad was the only one who really greeted her and said he’d like to take Thomas to visit Rachel, which she appreciated.
EJ announced that a plane from Alamainia had arrived, saying it could be a resurrected Vivian but more than likely Dimitri. They quipped to lock the doors, but Kristen made Chad look when she added, “Or the tunnels. You never know what’s creeping around in there.”
Leo Confronts Cat About Being ISA

Meanwhile in the tunnels, Cat was creeping around but heard a noise and turned around to find Leo in there. He said he had seen Rita emerge from them and went to investigate.
Leo started going through all of his clues and playing a game called Gotcha. As he rambled, he told Cat, “It’s true! You are ISA!” Cat was stunned.
Cat started to laugh and said she wished her life was that interesting. They heard another noise and decided to investigate. “If we get caught, I will do the talking,” Cat warned.
The Will Reading

In the living room, Theo began reading the will, with an intro explaining why Theo was named executor. EJ said something sarcastic at that moment, and Stefano replied in perfect timing in the will, followed by telling Kristen not to gloat when she made her own shot at EJ.
As for the estate, Theo read the rules on what the estate included and how the inheritance would be divided among living heirs and their descendants. Then, he was interrupted by the doorbell.
To everyone’s surprise, Marlena walked in. Theo went back to reading the will. Stefano gave each of his staff a trust and a home to live in upon retirement.
For his final bequest, Stefano gave his greatest adversaries, The Pawn, John Black, and his Queen of the Night, Marlena Evans, a gift. Rita presented Marlena with a black box as Theo passed along Stefano’s message: “May our match continue.”
And the Bombshells Began to Drop

Abe leaned in to tell Marlena that he didn’t have to open it, but Marlena was determined to make Stefano’s sick game end there. She opened the bag and in it was a chess game. Marlena thanked Theo but respectfully declined and walked out.
Anna said she had a headache and offered to walk her out. Theo then continued to give Stefano’s kids his final words, telling them to be proud to be a DiMera despite the villainization of their name.
Theo gave an impassioned speech as he read the words, but just as he concluded, Gabi walked in. “Hola, familia. Am I late?” she asked.
Gabi announced that Philip just returned from Alamainia, and he’d had a heart-to-heart with Ivan, who confessed that Vivian forged Stefan’s signature on their divorce papers, making her his widow at the time of his death.
“And therefore, I am entitled to his share of the DiMera estate. Cha-ching!” Gabi concluded.
The Final Act

As everyone had wine, EJ asked Tony if what Gabi said could be true. Tony surmised it could be, noting that last time, Vivian screwed the Kiriaskises, but maybe it was their turn this time.
Across the room, Kristen told Gabi she was a woman after her own heart but said she could smell a con. Theo, however, told Gabi he believed her, and as executor, he would take her claim seriously.
Chad added that given her source, he thought it was legit as well, but EJ snickered they’d get to the bottom of it one way or another. EJ led a toast to Stefano, and they all joined in. They turned to face his portrait and raised their glasses just as the tunnel door opened and Lexie walked in.
