Days of our Lives Recap May 6

At the pub, Roman wanted to go see Johnny, and Kate offered to go with him. Roman said he wanted her to hold down the fort while he was gone, but it wasn’t busy; she wondered if he just didn’t want her to go with him.
Roman reminded Kate that Johnny wouldn’t want to see her. Kate relented but said she hated it that Johnny believed she had tried to hurt him. Roman told her to give it some time.
Johnny Confides In Marlena

Marlena visited Johnny at the hospital and told him that his mom called while he was asleep. He was worried about Chanel and the stress it was putting on her. Johnny told Marlena about the lump.
Marlena comforted Johnny, who said that treatments would be complicated by Chanel’s pregnancy. Johnny was determined to be strong and optimistic but was scared.
Johnny asked if Marlena was as shocked as he was about Sophia, and Marlena said she was. She told him she had seen Sophia in the square after the hearing and had tried to get help for her.
As Marlena left, she saw Roman. He told her that Kate swore she hadn’t set Johnny up, but Marlena told him her gut said otherwise.
When Roman saw Johnny, he was bitter when Kate’s name was mentioned. He told Roman he understood that he wanted to believe his wife, and noted he didn’t have any proof. Roman admitted he wasn’t sure he believed Kate.
Johnny told a relieved Roman that EJ hadn’t invited him and Chanel to live with him. And he said he might get his wish since Tony was coming to Salem and wasn’t pleased about the lawsuit, especially after never wanting Johnny to be CEO.
Chad’s Admission to EJ

In the hall, EJ saw Chad, who told him he was giving Johnny and Marlena some time alone. When EJ ranted about Sophia, Chad told him to have some empathy for what her parents were going through.
“The world is a better place without Sophia Choi in it,” EJ shrugged. “I know some people who would say the same about you,” Chad retorted. EJ was irritated that Chad was coming down on him for being relieved that Johnny survived her attack.
Chad told EJ there was a difference between being relieved and dancing on Sophia’s grave. EJ was surprised when Chad said he jumped to conclusions about the pod, and believed him now that Abigail wasn’t in it. EJ got antsy when Chad said Theo convinced him that EJ was telling him the truth.
Cat Digs For Info

In the square, Cat met with Theo about the will reading. Theo told her there was a letter he was supposed to read, adding that he and EJ weren’t thrilled about any of it and couldn’t wait for it to be over.
Cat asked if he thought there was anything new that would change how the estate distribution worked. Theo thought about Lexie, and said that there was something that could affect everything, but said he couldn’t tell Cat what it was.
Cat tried to get it out of him, and mentioned how she had made mistakes in the past but Theo said compared to things his family had done, she was a saint.
Sophia Comes To See Kristen

At the DiMera mansion, Kristen heard a noise and called out to EJ, asking if it was him. Instead, a bloodied Sophia walked in. “What’s the matter, Kristen? You look like you’ve seen a ghost,” she said.
Sophia said that Kristen knocked her out cold, but the water was colder. She credited the swimming lessons her mom made her have growing up to be able to make it to shore and survive.
“Guess who else didn’t die last night?” Kristen barked. Sophia argued that Kristen didn’t stick to the plan either because she was supposed to help her have a whole new life, not kill her. Kristen wanted to know what she wanted from her and why she was there.
Sophia said she hated what Kristen did to her the night before but understood why she did it: with Sophia dead, no one can connect Kristen to what happened to Johnny. Sophia told her that their interests were aligned. She warned Kristen that she might get a deal, but Kristen would be behind bars for the rest of her life.
Kristen told her the first time she tried to kill her it was quick and painless, but she wasn’t feeling as generous this time. Sophia begged for forgiveness, but Kristen told her she was going to get rid of her once and for all.
EJ Accuses Kristen

Just then, EJ woke Kristen up and told her she was talking in her sleep. “You were saying, ‘Goodbye, Sophia,’” he said. Kristen said she probably wasn’t the only one having nightmares about the situation.
EJ wasn’t buying it that Kristen was suddenly empathetic, and had been keeping up with articles about Sophia on her tablet. He wondered if in her nightmare, Sophia was threatening to expose her. He said he could decipher her dream and said Stefano would have disowned her for trying to harm one of her own.
Kristen denied it, but EJ figured out that she’d accused him of taking away her daughter, and she could’ve gone after Johnny in revenge. He said if Johnny was harmed, he would deal with the person he knew was responsible “the DiMera way.”
Theo Talks To Marlena

Theo went for an appointment with Marlena and said he hadn’t been sleeping. Marlena noted that it was a stressful time and asked if there had been a change in Lexie’s condition. He told her that she had “purposeful movement” but wasn’t sure it was a good thing.
Theo said Dr. Rolf wasn’t sure Lexie would wake up, and he wondered if she would be the same if she did. Marlena advised him to stay in the present.
Theo was conflicted between hoping that Lexie would wake up and worrying that it was tempting fate. He admitted that part of him wished that EJ never tried to bring her back at all.
When Theo talked about his concerns of the will reading, Marlena offered to be there for him, but Theo told her that his dad would be there to lean on. He was also determined to be strong for his mother’s sake.
Cat and Chad Have a Warm Visit

Cat saw Chad in the square and tried to leave, but he called to her to wait. He told her she could always say hello. They caught up, but when Chad asked if anything was new, she had a flashback to kissing EJ.
Chad and Cat had a warm and friendly conversation. She told him that she’d see him at the will reading, and that she’d asked Cook to make the deviled eggs he liked so much. “You remembered,” Chad smiled before leaving.
