Days of our Lives Recap May 5

Jada asked Mrs. Choi to come to the station and told her that they’d found Sophia’s backpack and forensics was wanting a DNA sample from a brush or toothbrush to see if it matched Sophia’s.
Amy said she’d have to go get it, as her husband was out of town, and cried that she had to tell him by phone what was going on. Amy blamed that “two-faced” Holly for everything.
Amy cried as she recounted how much pain Sophia must have been in, then asked Jada to be honest with her. She asked if there was any chance Sophia was still alive.
Jada said she wouldn’t give up hope unless they found out for sure, but given the evidence, the chances seemed slim.
Alex Gets the Paternity Test Results

At home, Stephanie was up when Alex got a message that the DNA results were back and he was a match as Kelsey’s father. Julie came by and told them that Jeremy bolted for New York.
Julie told Stephanie that he said he did the right thing for the wrong reasons, and wanted to know if she knew what Jeremy meant.
Alex went to get them some coffee, and Stephanie told Julie how Jeremy brought Joy back to break up her marriage. She added how he’d kissed her.
Julie agreed Jeremy shouldn’t have kissed Stephanie, but thought maybe it all worked out because Alex was the father and could now know his daughter. Stephanie was surprised when Julie told her that she was once in a similar situation.
Holly, Ari, and Tate Are Rocked by News of Sophia

In the square, Holly, Ari, and Tate continued to look for Sophia. When Tate got the call that her bag and shoes had been found and were presumed gone, they were all somber.
Holly admitted that she was glad that Sophia was gone, but she didn’t want her to die this way.
Ari didn’t know how to feel but said she’d also had a big blowout with Sophia the day before and felt bad about it. Tate was emotional and felt sad for Sophia; he cried because he knew he’d hurt her by leading her on.
Holly comforted Tate and said that Sophia did this to herself, but Amy interrupted and yelled at Holly. “No! YOU did this to her!” she cried. Amy read Sophia’s letter and screamed at Holly for bullying Sophia.
Amy told Holly that she did everything she could to make everyone hate Sophia. She asked her what kind of person tells someone with mental health issues that had just been released from a hospital that they are dead to them.
They were all sobbing when Amy said if Holly and Ari hadn’t written the things online that they did, then they wouldn’t be dredging the Salem River for the body of her baby.
Holly had a flashback to the horrible things she’d said to Sophia the last time that she saw her. She tried to apologize, but Amy didn’t want to hear it. She told Holly that cyberbullying was a crime, and she would make sure that she paid.
Philip Makes a Confession

In bed, Gabi was looking at Liam’s mug shot and a bunch of other info on him that Rfe got her. She was furious that Ari had ever been interested in him and wanted him far from her daughter.
Philip advised her she was going about it the wrong way, but she yelled at him that he didn’t know what it was like to be a parent, so he rolled over to go to sleep. Gabi apologized, but Philip said he was just trying to help.
Philip told Gabi that he remembered what it was like to be a teenager and asked her to as well. He asked how she would feel if she liked someone, and her mom swooped in and said she didn’t get to care about him.
Philip told her that he hadn’t raised a teenager, but he did have a son named Tyler somewhere and hoped they would meet one day. Gabi apologized again for hurting his feelings.
Joy Decides To Stay in Salem

Alex went to the pub to get the coffees and ran into Joy and Kelsey. He told her about the paternity test results and said they should figure out what comes next.
Alex told Stephanie that he wanted Joy and Kelsey to stay in Salem. She admitted she didn’t have much to go back to in New York, but wondered how Stephanie would feel about it.
Julie left just before Alex returned with the coffees. He told Stephanie that he’d talked to Joy and she was going to stay in town.
