Days of our Lives Recap May 25: Philip Confesses to Amy; Xander Moves In, JJ and Jack Shock Jennifer

TL;DR: In today’s Days of our Lives recap, the search for Sophia is called off, but her gun is found, leading Jada to investigate. Jack gets Jennifer’s support to pursue a relationship with Gwen. Gwen confesses her unrequited feelings for Xander to Gabi. Philip tells Amy he staged his own murder to frame someone, and Xander moves in with Sarah, causing friction with Brady.

Days of our Lives Recap May 25

At the pub, Amy thanked Roman for letting her host the after-service gathering there and explained that she called it only a prayer service, as she was adamant that Sophia would return to her one day. Roman said he hoped she got her wish.

Jada met with Amy, who told her the search-and-rescue operation had been called off. She said the team had determined there was almost no chance of recovering her remains. 

Amy wanted them to keep looking, but Jada explained that continuing wouldn’t change the outcome. Roman joined the conversation and backed up what Jada was saying.

Jada revealed that when they dredged the river, they found the gun that was used to pistol-whip Johnny. Amy was shocked and wondered how Sophia could’ve gotten a gun; Jada intended to find out.

Jack and JJ Both Have News

At the Horton house, Jack told Jennifer that he went to see Gwen. He said it had been four years since they lost Abigail and he couldn’t keep adding to his list of regrets.

Jack shared that Gwen was open to the idea of having a relationship, and wondered how Jennifer felt. Jenn said she would support him and Gwen, and she would really try.

JJ came in after having breakfast with Shawn, who told him he didn’t blame him for anything. JJ told his parents he was doing better than he had been in a long time. He revealed he’d rejoined the fire department.

Gwen Confesses To Gabi

Gwen saw Gabi drinking alone at Small Bar, and could tell she had something serious on her mind. Gabi said she had betrayed Philip and that he would never be able to forgive her. “If I get the chance to self-destruct, I take it every damn time,” Gabi told Gwen, who said she could relate. 

Gwen told Gabi how her father came to see her. She said she didn’t get many second chances and didn’t want to waste it. She added that she was upset because she caught feelings for Xander and they weren’t returned.

Gwen got emotional as she admitted that she wanted to matter to someone, and as many times as she told herself otherwise, she wanted love.

Amy Questions Philip

Philip was in his Marine uniform when he ran into Brady in the park. He’d just come from the Memorial Day service at the national cemetery. He shared what Gabi did, and Brady was stunned.

Philip added that Gabi had offered some of Stefan’s inheritance, but now he realized it was out of guilt. Brady was sure that she was beating herself up right now for doing what she did.

Philip went to the pub, introduced himself to Mrs. Choi, and offered his condolences. She recognized his name from the news while researching whether Sophia might be alive, and asked him how he survived.

Philip admitted that he staged his own murder to frame someone else, and didn’t have to survive the way that she thought. He said he was in a better place now, and got the help he needed.

When Philip left the pub, he ran into Gabi, who noted she was grateful for his service. “Save it. Semper Fi means always faithful, always loyal. Those don’t apply to you,” he said before turning and walking away.

Brady and Sarah Welcome Xander

At the Kiriakis mansion, Xander told Sarah about the water damage to his place and didn’t see the point of staying at a hotel when he could stay in his own home, with his daughter and Sarah.

Sarah balked, but how she talked confused Xander. “You’re afraid we’ll fight? Or you’re afraid of something else?” he asked. Sarah told him he didn’t have an irresistible pull and reminded him she was with another man.

Sarah relented but warned Xander that he was not to bring Gwen or any other woman into the house. Just then, Brady walked in. Xander implied that Sarah was going to have an issue with him moving in because she was attracted.

Brady didn’t skip a beat in his response. Brady offered to get out of Xander’s hair while he got settled in and told Sarah they could just go to his place instead.

Jada Discusses Sophia With Shawn

In the square, Jada met with Shawn and told him about her conversation with Amy Choi. They discussed the gun with the shaved-off serial number and wondered how a teen got her hands on it. 

Shawn suggested that she was working with someone else. Jada thought they were missing something. When they went to leave, Jada and Shawn got flirty about going “home.”
